I Didn't Realize Charlize Theron Was This (Playfully) Petty Until I Heard This Story About Her Mom
Charlize Theron had a hilariously petty moment with her mom, and I need you to hear about it.
During a recent interview on the YouTube series House Guest with Scott Evans, RuPaul's Drag Race Season 8 winner, Bob the Drag Queen, stopped by to share some fun stories, and he did not disappoint with the tale about his friend Charlize.
"I was once at a party that Charlize Theron invited me to," Bob said. "We were just talking, and then she pointed at a group of women, and she goes, 'That's my mom.'"
"And I said, 'Oh my God, that's your mom?' She goes, 'Yep, that's my mom.' You look the same age. She was like, 'What?' I was like, 'Your mom and you look the same age.'"
Bob added that he's not one to hand out fake compliments, so he was being genuine when he told The Old Guard star about the strong resemblance she shared with her mom despite their age difference. But as much as Bob insisted, Charlize just wasn't buying it.
There was only one way to settle this in Charlize's mind, so she called her mom over to where she and Bob were standing. But as her mom was walking over, Bob noticed that it was a completely different woman than who he thought Charlize was pointing to in the group.
"A different woman walks over, who indeed looks like her mother," Bob continued. "A woman who certainly looks a solid 20 to 30 years older. I thought she was pointing at a different woman, so now what am I gonna do? Now, her mom's walking up to me. Am I gonna go, 'No, no, not you! You do look older than her! I was talking about that much younger-looking woman. You could be her mom twice over.'"
Bob said Charlize and her mom have a fun relationship, so when she called her over, she said, "Bob is trying to say that you look younger than me...that we look the same age. And her mom goes, 'Oh my god, thank you!' And I was like, 'Yup, that's it. Y'all basically look the same age.'"
As the conversation went on, Bob continued to shower Charlize's mom with compliments. "I said, 'Yeah, you look amazing. You look so much younger than you really are. Congratulations.' And then I ran into [Charlize] later at the party and I said, 'Charlize, I thought you were talking about that woman.' Charlize goes, 'Oh, we are the same age. We're like the exact same age.' And then she goes, 'Wait, you weren't talking about my mom? Oh, this is delicious! I'm going to tell her.'"
Bob quickly left the party before Charlize and her mother could confront him, but he remembers the actor being "elated" to playfully burst her mom's bubble.

Carlos Ponce Joins MariVi the Master Navigator as the Voice of Papá in Breakout Animated Series Now Streaming on Nuestra.TV and YouTube
[Media: Access more images and video HERE] LOS ANGELES, June 05, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Emmy-winning actor, Latin Grammy nominated artist, and international screen star Carlos Ponce has joined the animated children's series MariVi the Master Navigator, as the voice of Papá, a hard-working and loving immigrant father. The series, now streaming for free on and YouTube (@WeAreMariVi), recently surpassing 100,000+ subscribers, brings to life the emotional nuance of growing up between two cultures – a Latino and an American one. Rooted in the acclaimed work of Maria (Lopez) Twena, MariVi the Master Navigator tells the powerful story of a first-generation Hispanic family learning to call America home. Through the eyes of MariVi — a resourceful bilingual/bicultural daughter — the series shines a light on the quiet heroism of Latino children of immigrants who serve as interpreters and cultural ambassadors, shaping the future of their families and communities. 'Navigating two cultures can be incredibly challenging, particularly for the Hispanic community, where collectivism and self-reliance often stand in contrast,' said Twena. 'In MariVi the Master Navigator, each character brings their own strength as they adapt to new surroundings, a new language, and an unfamiliar world. It was essential that the voice of Papá, as the head of the household, felt authentic. We're incredibly grateful to have found that voice in Carlos.' 'Papá isn't just a supporting character, he's the foundation,' said Carlos Ponce. 'He reminds me of the fathers I grew up around: hardworking, proud, sometimes stubborn, but full of heart. I saw parts of my own life in him. It's a character that feels deeply real, and I'm honored to give him a voice.' The casting of Ponce, whose work spans blockbuster films (Julie & the Phantoms, Murder Mystery 2, Couples Retreat), hit TV series (Santa Diabla, 7th Heaven), animated hits (Rio, Ice Age: Collision Course), the Spanish-language narration of all Harry Potter Audible books, and chart-topping Latin Albums, adds star power and legitimacy to a project that champions representation and cultural pride. Ponce's voice performance is a timely tribute to immigrant fathers whose quiet sacrifices often go unseen. With Father's Day approaching, his role as Papá offers a heartfelt celebration of their love, strength, and everyday heroism. More information on and @wearemarivi on social media.
