Catawissa man killed in Franklin County crash
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A Catawissa man died Saturday afternoon after losing control of his pickup truck along a rural Franklin County roadway.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report, the crash happened just after 4:45 p.m. on Finney Road, just west of Route HH.
The highway patrol said a 2003 Ford F350 was traveling east on Finney Road when the driver was going too fast for the curve in the roadway and failed to keep the truck on the road.
The truck went off the right side of Route HH and overturned. The driver was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene at 5:05 p.m. He was 40.
A 23-year-old passenger in the truck suffered only minor injuries.
The crash report said the 23-year-old was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash; the 40-year-old did not have his seat belt on.

State police to hand out 1.5K handgun safes to promote safe storage
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police say they'll soon be issuing 1,500 handgun safes to new pistol permit recipients as part of their Safe Storage Initiative CT program. Deadly West Side crash now being investigated as homicide: CPD
CHICAGO (WGN) — A West Side crash that left a 25-year-old woman dead in late April is now being investigated as a homicide. Officers say the deadly crash, which claimed the life of 25-year-old Keyana Meeks, unfolded around 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale. Photos from the scene show the vehicle involved partially overturned near a building in the area with police tape cordoning off the scene. Meeks was badly injured in the crash and later died at the hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 21-year-old woman, suffered an injury to her leg.
