A Meath man is buzzing with excitment after winning a life-changing six-figure sum in the EuroMillions raffle.
The lucky punter snapped up a tidy €500,000 on Friday, May 2. The all-important ticket was bought at Mace Wilkinstown, Navan, Co. Meath.
This turned out to be the best decision he's made in a while, especially since he only recently started adding the Plus option to his usual Quick Pick. He said: "I had a few old tickets lying around and decided to get them checked. One of them printed a slip telling me to contact the National Lottery. I didn't think much of it until I noticed the shop was decked out in balloons. I was driving home and that's when it hit me, I could be the winner!"
He pulled over mid-journey to check his numbers online and sure enough, he was the EuroMillions Plus jackpot winner. 'The first thing I did was call my partner. She was completely speechless. We're absolutely over the moon!'
The couple is already planning a dream family holiday to Italy, and the win brings more than just travel plans. 'This means we can secure our family's future, especially with college coming up. It's a dream come true!'
Another Meath man won an additional €250,000, after his raffle code matched the winning sequence. The online player, who used personal numbers of significance to play a single line, initially believed he had won €5,000.
He said: "I was truly delighted with that win, I thought to myself, 'Happy days!'"
But the real surprise came when he contacted the National Lottery's Prize Claims team and discovered the full extent of his windfall.
'Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. I had to return to work, and it was a busy afternoon – how typical? However, mentally, I was lying on a beach soaking up the sunshine'
He said: 'We've always wanted to go to California, and I've already an itinerary drafted. My car also sounds like a wooden ship, and the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree, so a new car is undoubtedly on the cards

EuroMillions results Ireland: Search on to find Dublin's latest winners who scooped huge prizes

The search is on to find two of Ireland's latest EuroMillions winners who just scooped huge prizes in Friday night's draw. While the eye-watering €250 million jackpot went unclaimed and now rolls over to Tuesday - becoming the largest EuroMillions jackpot in history - the pair of winners still have plenty to celebrate after matching five main numbers to win €23,054 each. The winning numbers from the draw were: 20, 21, 29, 30, 35 and Lucky Stars 2 and 12. As both winners have yet to come forward, the National Lottery is issuing a public appeal for all players to check their tickets. To help the search they have revealed that both tickets were purchased in Dublin. The first winner purchased their Quick Pick ticket on May 23 from SuperValu Ballyroan in the Rosemount Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham. The second winner purchased their Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw from The Natter Day Today Store in Ongar Village. Meanwhile, a Co Kerry player won the Telly Bingo Snowball prize on June 6, worth an incredible €60,019. The winning ticket was sold in Cahill's SuperValu in Ballybunion. Incredibly, this is the second big win for the store this year, after a former post mistress purchased her Quick Pick ticket there and matched 5 numbers in the main Lotto draw on January 8 to claim €30,570. National Lottery spokesperson Darragh O'Dwyer said: "Last night's EuroMillions draw brought fantastic news for two of our players in Dublin, who both scooped a handsome prize of €23,054, while a player in Co Kerry claimed €60,019 Snowball prize in Friday's Telly Bingo game. We're encouraging all our players to check their tickets today to see if they're our latest big winner. It's always exciting to see players winning life-enhancing prizes, and we can't wait to hear how these winners plan to celebrate!" With the €250 million jackpot now capped, Tuesday's draw promises to be one of the most thrilling in EuroMillions history. Players are reminded that tickets for Tuesday night's draw can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at ahead of the 7.30pm cut-off time for sales on Tuesday evening. Two Irish players land huge prizes in biggest ever EuroMillions draw

There may have been no winner of what was the largest EuroMillions jackpot ever seen in Ireland - worth a whopping €250 million - on Friday night, but a number of Irish players still have plenty of reasons to celebrate. EuroMillions players were in with a chance of landing the eye-watering €250 million jackpot after no player scooped Tuesday's top prize. While the mammoth sum went unclaimed, two Irish players still managed to bag huge five-figure prizes in tonight's draw. The numbers called in Friday's main EuroMillions draw were: 20, 21, 29, 30, 35 and the Lucky Stars were 02, 12. While no players managed to match all five numbers plus the two lucky stars to scoop the quarter of a billion euro prize, two players in Ireland won the Match 5 prize to pocket a cool €23,054 each. Three Irish players did come agonisingly close to scooping Friday's jaw dropping €250 million jackpot after matching four numbers plus two lucky stars, meaning they were just one correct number away from becoming Ireland's newest millionaire. While the trio may have missed out on the huge cash windfall, they still landed a decent chunk of change after scooping the 4 + 2 Stars to win €1,306 apiece. Meanwhile, the numbers to look out for in Friday's EuroMillions draw were: 2, 3, 33, 44 and 45. While no players in Ireland managed to bag the €500,000 jackpot on offer in this draw, 104 players did win €2,000 each after matching four correct numbers. There were also 10 winners of the Ireland Only raffle, who snapped up €5,000 each in Friday's EuroMillions draw.
