Is Big Brother Australia returning to Dreamworld? Production 'confirms' upcoming reboot is returning to Gold Coast - after the original house burned down in 2019

Daily Maila day ago

Big Brother will return to its original home on the Gold Coast later this year.
Production company EndemolShine Australia all but confirmed the upcoming reboot will return to the location where the show was famously produced during its Network 10 run from 2001-2008 after putting out a call for local post-production staff.
'Endemol Shine Australia is looking for Queensland-based post production crew available to work on-site for the return of Big Brother,' read the post.
While no filming location was specified, the posts suggest that a new home could be built up North, after filming the latest three seasons in Sydney before the series was canned by Seven in 2014.
The series will return to screens in early November and is expected to wrap in the first half of December.

The abandoned Gold Coast house was deliberately lit on fire in June 2019.
Four children aged between 11 and 15 were later charged with arson after it was set ablaze.
Two nine-year-olds who were also arrested were released after assisting police with inquiries.
After the show was axed in 2014, the unoccupied set was left to rot for five years.
A new house was built in 2020 in Manly for when Channel Seven picked up the series before it was eventually relocated to Sydney Olympic Park in 2021 after being served an eviction notice by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
The eviction notice was issued due to concerns for local wildlife.
The reality show will be back at its original home at Ten next year, with the network vowing to bring the Australian franchise into line with its winning format.
A brand new crop of housemates will be live-streamed 24/7 as the series returns with a fresh new host Melissa Tracina in 2025.
While no filming location was specified, the posts suggests that a new home could be built up North, after filming the latest three seasons in Sydney before the series was canned by Seven in 2014
Tracina is planning to revamp the series after taking the hosting reigns from Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Tracina revealed Aussie viewers will finally have access to the game in real time.
'What's so good about this is the livestream element,' she said.
'So you don't have to worry about getting a bad edit, or being the "season villain", because viewers can log in at any time and see what the [housemates] are up to.'
The beloved reality show, which sees housemates compete to stay in the house to win prize money, found roaring success on Channel Ten in the early 2000s.
Since then, the show has changed networks several times - first going over to Channel Nine before a revamped version at Channel Seven.
Big Brother has continued to enjoy healthy viewership numbers with its cross-platform livestream cameras in the US and UK.
Across the three weekly airings of the American franchise on CBS, streaming, and the show's 24/7 live feed on Paramount+, viewers racked up 8.3 billion minutes of viewing time.
That put the long-running reality TV series on par with major streaming hits like new seasons of Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon in 2022.
Big Brother Australia was axed from Channel 7's 2024 schedule after scoring its lowest-rated season yet.
The show got bumped from its original 7.30 time slot to a later time after just one week on-air and concluded its 15th season with just 152,000 overnight viewers in the five capital cities – a huge drop from when the show relaunched in 2020 with 853,000 viewers.
Fans were left unimpressed with last season's rebrand, which was focused on fostering romance among sexy, single cast-mates.
Many felt Seven's reboot had more in common with rival Love Island than Big Brother, with one writing on social media at the time: 'Bring back the days of regular people on here. Why would I want to vote for any of these people?!'
'So sad to see what was once a great show absolutely ruined,' another lamented.
'I found out I got the job pretty quickly before the news came out,' Tracina told Daily Mail.
'I grew up watching it. When it came out in 2001, I was there.'
Reggie Sorenson (Bird) won the third and fourteenth seasons of Big Brother Australia in 2003 and 2022
Prior to this gig, she was known for her role as 'culture correspondent' for Ten's comedy panel show The Cheap Seats.
'This is so huge to me. It's also just the fans that love it, it's a juggernaut of a show,' she added.
'It means so much to so many Australians, so I feel the pressure of doing the best job that I can.'
Big Brother is known for being one of the only reality TV competitions that not only happens in real-time as it airs, but that allows viewers access to an unedited look at what's happening in the house.
By hosting live feeds, fans are able to watch the game unfold naturally instead of following storylines set forth and edited by production.

Under-pressure Brisbane Broncos take extraordinary measure after recent controversies and rumours of player unrest engulf the club

A recent number of controversial incidents have forced the Brisbane Broncos to take a huge measure to maintain the club's reputation. Following the fallout relating to Ezra Mam's car crash, Reece Walsh's punch video and the sacking of Marty Taupau, the Broncos have hired a crisis management expert, according to reports. Buzz Rothfield of The Courier Mail writes that Grant Williams, a renowned reputation management expert, has joined the club. The NRL journalist added that Williams was 'rushed in to protect the club and its brand'. The footy club have been dragged into several off-field controversies this year, and the club have opted to draft in a crisis management expert to provide advice on multiple operational matters. Rothfield adds that Williams, who has previously worked with the NRL's media and communications set-up and worked as an advisor to NSW Police commissioner Mick Fuller, will work with players and managers at the club. That work is due to pertains mostly to their responsibilities in line with the NRL's rules on conduct and social media use. Mam pleaded guilty to one count of driving with a relevant drug in his system and another count of driving without a licence for an incident that took place in Bardon, Brisbane, last October. He was fined $120,000 by the NRL and the Broncos and handed a nine-match ban after he had crashed into an Uber taxi, injuring a four-year-old girl. Meanwhile, the Broncos were left furious at Walsh after he uploaded a bizarre and worrying video of himself appearing to punch a friend with a boxing glove on. Another player, Taupau parted company from the football club on amicable terms after he had appeared to like a social media post openly criticising Michael Maguire. The Broncos boss himself has also had a turbulent induction to life at the Clive Berghofer Centre. Williams' website states that he is a 'public affairs, strategic communications and media management advisory, providing crisis, issues and reputation management to companies organisations, family offices, boards, chairs chief executive officers, professionals and individuals.' His website adds that Williams will: 'personally prepare you for any crisis or issue' as well as 'identifying risks before they happen and provide a 24/7 urgent and bespoke response when they do'. Williams told Rothfield: 'The Broncos are a tremendous club and I'm looking forward to supporting their team with strategic counsel where required.' On the pitch, the Broncos have had a mixed season, despite being pipped to be a premiership contender prior to 2025. However, they have struggled to consistently perform, with Brisbane having won only one of their last five matches. Earlier this week, boss Dave Donaghy has also criticised claims that there is a fractured changing room at the club, throwing his support behind Maguire. There have been suggestions that the Broncos boss is facing a player revolt, but Donaghy said: 'The talk of unrest is simply not true. 'I'm not there every day, but I have asked the football department to give me some feedback if there is some discontent and I've had nothing come back of that nature. 'I have asked questions. We had a board meeting last week, we had 'Madge' in to talk about things and one of the directors was at training and they called me and said the players have been nothing but positive of Madge. 'Myself and the directors walk around the club and we get a feel if there's some major issues. We see none of that. The issue we see is Madge has come into reset a team and it could take longer than we thought.'

Why this picture of a father and son peacefully fishing on a quiet river has Aussies up in arms

Photos of a father and his young son fishing on the bank of a crocodile infested lake have sparked outrage on social media. The pair were pictured fishing at Cahills Crossing in Kakadu, in the Northern Territory, this week. Karen Beckham caught them casually standing within inches of the water and mere metres away from signs warning tourists of the danger they were in. Ms Beckham shared the photos on Facebook in an attempt to caution others not to do the same. 'And the parent the year award goes to? This dude,' she wrote. 'Poor child would have no idea about crocodile danger.' Others debated in the comment section of Ms Beckham's post about how much danger the two were really in. Crocodile experts have also taken note of the photos and urged people to be more careful in the area. Matt Cornish, co-founder of Community Representation of Crocodiles, said complacency can be a killer around dangerous predators. 'Cahills Crossing is considered to be a high-risk crocodile location where people need to be extremely vigilant,' he told Yahoo News. 'We have had crocodile fatalities there over the last couple of decades.' The stretch of the river where the photo was taken is a popular fishing area despite the risks it poses. Signs in the area attempt to warn tourists and locals to remain vigilant at all times due to the fatal attacks which have happened in previous years. 'Do not risk your life,' one sign reads. 'A fatal crocodile attack occurred here.' Even with signs like these people are still seen fishing on the bank quite frequently. Those who commented on Ms Beckham's post went back and forth with some defending the father while others similarly condemned him. 'Looks to be a reasonable distance off the water from the photo,' one person wrote. 'Doesn't look that bad. They'll be right,' another said. 'Disaster just waiting to happen parents should have informed them crocks are about and no swimming parent's failed,' a third added. 'Cahills Crossing, more Crocs there than the rest of Australia,' a fourth wrote. Anyone who visits the area has been advised to ensure they are up to date with the latest Croc Wise advise. Ensuring that fish and other food is kept away from the water's edge and remaining alert at all time is essential. Crocodiles can move so fast however that it is often impossible for people to react fast enough to escape their attack.

Hugh Jackman looks in good spirits as he's mobbed by fans in New York despite claims ex Deborra-Lee Furness is 'planning to release divorce tell-all'

Hugh Jackman looked in high spirits as he was mobbed by fans outside Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City on Wednesday. The Australian actor, 56, was all smiles despite recent reports that his ex Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, is 'planning to release a divorce tell-all.' The revelations come weeks after Deborra-Lee filed official divorce papers, ending her 27-year marriage to Hugh and issuing a powerful public statement where she spoke of her 'traumatic journey of betrayal'. Brushing off his divorce drama, Hugh was noticeably upbeat as he departed the theatre following his incredible performance in the new play Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes. The Wolverine star cut a smart figure in a light blue Ralph Lauren polo top and dark blue trousers as he carried a large black backpack. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Hugh beamed as he greeted fans and signed autographs outside before heading home on his bicycle. Deborra-Lee is reportedly planning to release a no-holds-barred 'divorce diary' detailing her painful split from Hugh and the heartbreak that followed. The Australian actress is said to be currently documenting her emotional roller-coaster journey, with plans to publish the memoir once her divorce from the Wolverine star is legally finalised, according to New Idea. 'Deb's been desperate to have her side of the story out there,' an alleged source told the outlet. 'She's been writing down all her thoughts, the good and the bad, and logging every detail of this ugly roller-coaster divorce. As soon as her lawyers allow it, she will be talking to publishers about a deal.' Hugh and Deborra-Lee's split appeared to turn bitter when she spoke about her 'traumatic journey of betrayal' in the wake of her divorce filing last month. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she said. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep. However, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.' The revelations come weeks after Deb filed official divorce papers, ending her 27-year marriage to Hugh and issuing a powerful public statement where she spoke of her 'traumatic journey of betrayal' (both pictured 2023) 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.' She continued: 'I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.' She concluded her statement with the 'one thing' she has learned, which is 'that none of this is personal.' Deb's emotional declaration signalled a turning point in what had largely been a quiet and dignified separation - until now. Sources claim that while Deb is remaining composed publicly, behind closed doors she's preparing to reclaim her narrative with a raw and honest memoir that could shine a spotlight on Hugh's new romance with Broadway star Sutton Foster. The New Idea insider added that the actress won't be holding back: 'She won't be silenced. This is her truth.' Daily Mail Australia reached out to Deborra-Lee Furness for comment. The Wolverine star cut a smart figure in a light blue Ralph Lauren polo top and dark blue trousers as he carried a large black backpack It comes as MailOnline revealed that Hugh and Deborra-Lee have put their (UK£28million) New York apartment on the market amid their messy divorce. reports that the former couple is offloading the stunning five-bedroom 'triplex' apartment in the West Village that they purchased back in 2008 for AU$32million (UK £23million). The penthouse boasts an eye-watering 1000 sqm of floor space and spans the top three floors of a glass tower overlooking the Hudson River. The three floors are connected via a spiral staircase, and the luxe abode also boasts seven bathrooms. It also features a library, private sauna and an indoor gym, while the kitchen boasts a massive island bench, stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinet space. Designed by lauded architect Richard Meier, the property is described as a 'modernist masterpiece'. The main bedroom, meanwhile, occupies an entire floor and includes a luxurious spa bath and dressing area. Hugh and Deborra-Lee tried to offload the apartment back in 2022 but paused the sale in favour of putting it on the rental market. The listing comes after it was recently revealed that the ex-couple had decided to split their other New York abode down the middle. The former couple filed records with the city regarding their shares of their former love nest, as seen in documents obtained by Hugh and Deborra-Lee, who had been married since 1996, announced their separation back in 2023 after 27 years of marriage. At the time, they cited a desire to pursue 'individual growth'. Though the pair have not publicly revealed the reasons behind their separation, rumours have run rampant as fans speculate that Hugh growing close to his fellow Broadway co-star Sutton in The Music Man play was a factor in their split.
