Terrorist killed, cop martyred in Lakki Marwat clash
A fierce gun battle in Lakki Marwat's Kot Kashmir area on Wednesday left three terrorists dead, including a key local militant commander, while a police constable embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
According to a statement issued by Lakki Marwat police spokesperson Shahid Marwat, "In the exchange of fire, three Khawarij, including a key local terrorist, Commander Chhota Waseem Gundi Khankhel, were killed".
The encounter erupted after police received intelligence that a group of militants was moving from Gundi towards Kot Kashmir.
Acting swiftly on directives from Bannu Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer Jawad Ishaq, the local police, alongside members of the area's peace committee, pursued the suspects.
The militants were intercepted at Kot Kashmir, where they opened fire on the advancing police and volunteers.
A heavy exchange of gunfire ensued. One terrorist was neutralised on the spot, while two others retreated into a nearby house, attempting to use women and children inside as human shields, the statement said.
"However, the police surrounded the house and continued the fight with great skill, which lasted for two hours. At the same time, the police strategically took out the women and children trapped in the house and continued the fight with the terrorists there and killed them," the statement said.
Amid the crossfire, police constable Shahidullah Gundi Khankhel sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital but succumbed to his wounds en route.
"Policeman Shahidullah Gundi Khankhel was seriously injured and was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was embraced martyrdom while succumbing to his injuries on the way," the police statement confirmed.

Security forces eliminate 14 militants in North Waziristan operation: ISPR
Listen to article At least 14 militants allegedly affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, a group identified as an Indian proxy, were killed in intellegence-based operations in North Waziristan between June 2 and 3, it emerged on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted operations in Dhatta Khel area of North Waziristan. "After a fierce exchange of fire, 14 militants affiliated with the Indian-sponsored group were neutralized." Sanitization operations are ongoing in the area to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining threats, said the military's media wing. "Pakistan's armed forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate Indian-sponsored terrorism and restore lasting peace across the country," the statement added. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the move stems from 'the involvement of some organizations and groups in terrorist activities in Balochistan, which are detrimental to Islamic faith, the sovereignty of Pakistan, and its customary traditions'. The notification further stated that the new designation is intended to reflect 'the true nature and ideology' of these groups and their 'nefarious designs' sponsored by India. 'All government entities are directed to start the above practice immediately,' the notification said, underscoring a concerted effort to reframe the narrative around insurgent violence in the province. The announcement came after Islamabad accused India of escalating indirect aggression after what he described as its defeat in a recent security operation dubbed "Marka-e-Haq'.

PM Shehbaz vows to resolve all issues concerning KP
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday assured to address all issues concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Addressing a Jirga in Peshawar, he announced to form a committee to look into all the demands and issues raised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, according to a statement from Prime Minister's office. The Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with Federal Ministers of Defence, Interior, Information and Federal Minister for Kashmir & GB Affairs, visited Peshawar today. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) was also with PM on the visit to Peshawar. On arrival, CM & Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhawa welcomed the Prime Minister.
