Bishop's eerie final 'ride or die' post hours before he, wife and relative were brutally murdered
Danny Richards, 57, and his wife Sabrina, who had been celebrating her 54th birthday, were found shot to death inside their Lillington home Tuesday evening, according to WRAL News.
A third victim, Danny's 74-year-old mother Clara, was also found with gunshot wounds and died shortly after at the hospital.
The suspect was quickly identified as the 15-year-old nephew of Danny and Sabrina and the grandson of Clara - a teen whom loved ones said the family had taken in, hoping to give him a better life, according to the outlet.
Just under four hours before the horrific killings, Danny posted a chilling Facebook tribute showing the family celebrating Sabrina's birthday, accompanied by a heartfelt message to his wife.
'Happy birthday to the Love of my life, my ride or Die, Sabrina Richards,' the caption read. 'Love you baby!!!'
The tragedy began around 5:15pm Tuesday evening, when an unidentified 10-year-old inside the home called authorities to report that several family members had also been shot.
Deputies with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office responded quickly to the home in the Trotter's Ridge neighborhood, where they discovered that the three victims had been gunned down.
While Danny and Sabrina were pronounced dead at the scene, Clara was still alive but found critically injured outside the home, according to My Daily Record.
Emergency radio traffic indicated that she was shot in the abdomen but managed to make it outside the residence, where she was found and rushed to Womack Army Medical Center, as reported by the outlet. Tragically, she died the following day.
Fortunately, the 10-year-old child who alerted authorities to the gruesome scene was left physically unharmed.
Investigators swiftly identified the suspected shooter as a 15-year-old relative of the victims, whose name has not been released due to his age.
After the shooting, authorities said the teenager fled in a vehicle that was later discovered abandoned in a wooded area near Highway 87 and Nursery Road, as reported by WRAL.
A large-scale search continued into the night, until around 11pm, when law enforcement located the teen hiding in a wooded area nearby.
The young suspect was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his uncle, aunt and grandmother, according to CBS 17 News.
Neighbors and community members expressed shock over the news, with many calling the sudden deaths 'a real tragedy,' according to WRAL.
'This neighborhood is pretty quiet,' neighbor Donald Greaux told the outlet.
'Everybody talks to each other, waves at each other. It's just sad to hear that,' he added.
The couple had been married for nearly 30 years and served as Bishop and First Lady of Genesis Grace Ministry in Fayetteville, according to a Facebook post.
Together, they regularly organized events with their family to provide food, clothing, medical care, and other essentials to the less fortunate.
Additionally, both Danny and Sabrina were Army veterans who served until 2017, a US Army Human Resources Command spokesperson told WRAL.
Greaux, who recently retired from the 82nd Airborne Division, told the outlet he had been getting to know his neighbors in the months leading up to their deaths.
'He's a very, very nice guy, and it's a sad situation that him and his family,' he told WRAL. 'He loves his family, for whatever the situation was.'
Danny's haunting final post quickly amassed dozens of comments from friends and community members expressing disbelief over the unexpected murders.
'I just heard the news. I'm blown away. You were one of the most influential leaders I had. Rest in paradise!' one comment read.
Another user, who appeared to know Danny from his Army days, added: 'This is so sad man. I just heard the news and this one really hurts man. CSM Rich was a great leader and a better human being.'
'CSM Richards was a genuine kind soul. I also met Sabrina as well,' he added. 'Didn't get to work or know her like I did CSM, but I did know that she loved him dearly. My condolences go out to the rest of their families…'
A third wrote: 'I'm at a loss for words. Just know I was always remember how you inspired me to be better and do better CSM. I am saddened to hear the bad news today. God bless you and your entire family. Your legacy will live forever.'
'This is such a tragedy. Disgusting, avoidable and unnecessary tragedy,' said another.
Authorities have not yet released a possible motive for the triple murder, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The suspected teenage shooter is currently being held in a North Carolina juvenile detention center.

‘Trump's terror campaign': Protests erupt after man dies fleeing federal agent raid at LA Home Depot
Protests erupted after a man died after being struck by a car on a Los Angeles freeway on Thursday as he fled an immigration raid conducted by federal agents at a Home Depot in Monrovia. Democrats were quick to call out President Donald Trump and his immigration crackdown following the incident, which is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. 'President Trump's terror campaign has taken another life,' California Democratic State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez said in a statement. 'The bottom line is these violent, sweeping raids should not be happening,' she added. 'The Trump Administration is violating a federal court order by continuing to conduct deadly roving immigration raids.' 'How many more brown-skinned people have to die before the President will obey the law?' she asked. About 50 people came to the Home Depot at 6 p.m. with signs stating ' ICE out of LA,' and waving Mexican flags. 'When Trump says get back, we say fight back,' they chanted, according to The Los Angeles Times. Home Depots have become sites where several immigration raids have been conducted amid the Trump administration's crackdown. One person fled and entered the 210 Freeway. Monrovia Fire & Rescue responded to a call at 9.52 a.m. regarding a vehicle collision with a pedestrian. The individual was taken to a hospital, where he later died. 'There is no ongoing ICE activity reported in Monrovia at this time, and the City has not received any communication or information from ICE,' said Feik. 'While we understand community members want to know more about the incident, the information provided in this update is all the City has to provide at this time.' However, in a statement to The New York Times, the Department of Homeland Security said the man was 'not being pursued by any D.H.S. law enforcement.' 'We do not know their legal status,' the department said. 'We were not aware of this incident or notified by California Highway Patrol until hours after operations in the area had concluded.' The Independent has contacted ICE for comment. Democratic Congresswoman Judy Chu took to X to slam the Trump administration following the deadly collision. 'His death is a result of the Trump administration's strategy of sowing intimidation and fear throughout Los Angeles,' said Chu. 'I will continue to demand accountability from ICE and stand up for the immigrant community.' A day laborer told The LA Times that he goes to the Home Depot in Monrovia at 8 a.m. each day in the hope of finding work. On Thursday, he heard people yelling, 'immigration, run!' He managed to avoid being detained, but he was unable to help his friends. 'It feels horrible — I couldn't do anything for them other than record what was happening,' he told the paper. According to the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, 13 people were detained during the raid. Motorist Vincent Enriquez told The LA Times that he saw the man just after he had been hit, and at that point, he was still alive. 'By the time I was passing by ... he must've been struck no more than a few minutes prior,' he said. 'He was still moving.' Monrovia resident and UCLA professor Robert Chao Romero said, 'It just breaks my heart, because it's just so inhumane.' 'These horrible, unjust ICE policies led to someone dying,' he added. Another resident, Karen Suarez, told the paper she went to the Home Depot when she heard that a raid had been conducted there and encountered the daughter of the man who had died. 'She was visibly very upset, and she was going to go to the hospital and try to find out about her dad,' said Suarez. 'I feel so bad for her. I feel so bad for the families. These are people trying to escape whatever horrible atrocities they came from for a better life.' The United Farm Workers labor union called the incident 'enraging and heartbreaking,' adding that it was 'Another senseless death caused by a chaotic ICE operation.' Another California Democrat, Rep. Gil Cisneros, wrote on X, 'I'm horrified by the senseless ICE raids that took the life of yet another person in our community. These reckless and deadly ICE raids must end.'

Southwest Airlines pilot arrested as he was about to fly plane after drinking alcohol
A pilot was pulled off a flight by police moments before the plane was about to take off as officers suspected he was intoxicated. Bodycam footage shared by Savannah Airport Police on Thursday (14 August) shows Southwest pilot David Allsop, 52, speaking to police about his recent alcohol consumption after he was escorted off the plane earlier this year. Allsop said that he drank a 'few light beers' the night before with his first officer, and the police officer then commented that he smelled of alcohol. When he was asked to undertake a field sobriety test, he initially refused saying that it 'wasn't necessary' but later agreed. He failed two of three tests and was taken away for further questioning. Allsop was charged with a DUI on 15 January and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revoked his pilot certification.

Dozens of kids missing in Virginia over just a few days - but police say not to worry
Dozens of kids have gone missing in Virginia over just a few days but police say the number is below average. Virginia State Police have been compelled to address several social media posts raising alarm about missing children across the state. 'Virginia State Police is not investigating any reports of mass abductions in Virginia, nor is there evidence of mass abductions occurring in Virginia,' VSP said in a recent news release. According to VSP data, last week there were 88 children reported missing to the Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse, a center for missing child cases. This is below the 2025 weekly average of missing children in Virginia, which stands at 98 kids. State police said most missing children are runaways, and most of them 'return shortly after being reported missing.' Since January, 3,274 children have been reported missing to the clearinghouse, and as of Wednesday, 141 are still missing. State police explained Virginia reports more missing children than other states on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Kids website because it forwards every missing child case, instead of many other clearinghouses that post their cases to their own website. Virginia authorities also used two alert programs known as the CODI and Amber alerts. To activate a CODI Alert, the child's disappearance must be 'under suspicious circumstances or poses a credible threat as determined by law enforcement to the safety and health of the child,' state police explained. An Amber Alert is issued when authorities believe the child has been abducted and is 'in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death,' according to state police. This year, 25 CODI Alerts and two Amber Alerts were issued, and all of the children were found, the news release said. State police shared some tips for parents to keep their children safe. 'Make sure your child knows not to accept rides from strangers and not to trust a stranger who suggests they go off alone together for any reason,' authorities said. Parents should also never leave their child alone in the car, 'even for a minute,' and they should tell their children 'to let you know immediately if another adult suggests keeping secrets from you,' according to the news release.
