TVK chief Vijay slams DMK, says ‘publicity sarkar has transformed into sorry model sarkar,'
Addressing TVK's protest rally here, Vijay said the custodial torture victim Ajith Kumar hailed from an ordinary family and the chief minister apologised to the victim's family and it is appropriate.
Clad in black, Vijay held a placard that read, 'Sorry Vendam, Needhi Vendum (We want justice, not sorry).' The TVK chief asked whether 'Stalin said sorry' to the families of all the 24 victims of alleged custodial torture (which resulted in deaths) during the DMK regime, since 2021.
'Please say sorry to them all; also, did you give solatium to the families of all the 24 victims? Please provide solatium to them as well,' he said.
When the then AIADMK regime transferred the Sathankulam case (in which P Jeyaraj and his son J Benniks were allegedly tortured to death by police in 2020), Stalin had said that it was an insult to Tamil Nadu police, Vijay claimed.
The fledgling party's chief wondered if the DMK government, which days ago transferred the Ajith Kumar custodial death case to the CBI, has not caused the same insult and added that both instances were only the same.
Further, Vijay asked, 'Why are you hiding behind the CBI?', which happens to be only the puppet of the RSS and the BJP. It was because his party, the TVK has sought a court-monitored probe by a special investigation team and 'fearing' such a move, the DMK regime is hiding behind the union government.
The court has questioned the state government on several cases of 'atrocities', including Anna varsity girl student sexual assault and Ajith Kumar custodial torture.
'If the court has to intervene and ask questions for everything, then why are you there? what is the purpose of the government? and the office of the chief minister? Whatever may be the questions, there are not going to be any answers. The government may provide answers only if it had answers and it does not have any answers in this regard, he alleged.
'The maximum reply from you is sorry and the empty, publicity-model DMK sarkar has now got transformed into a sorry model sarkar,' he alleged, mocking at the DMK government.
Before the end of the 'inept DMK government's tenure,' it has to set right the law and order situation. Else, by joining forces with the people, 'we will make you do it,' Vijay said.
'Sarkar' (government) is a popular Vijay-starrer movie that was released in 2018.

That was when a top cine star – M G Ramachandran - upstaged an established, cadre-based regional party- Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)with his break-away faction – Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) – in record time after its birth and captured power to rule the Dravidian state unchallenged for 13 years. At the time of writing, Joseph Vijay, known as 'Thalapathy' among his fans has just held his second mega political meeting in Madurai, the city which has seen epoch-making changes happening in state politics. After his seniors, Rajinikanth, who quit the heat and dust of 'rajniti' quoting ill health and Kamal Haasan ending up seeking support of DMK (for a Rajya Sabha seat) whom he set out to vanquish, all eyes are now on Vijay, a massive, successful matinee idol who has carved his niche in Tamil cinema in a span of three decades and more. An appraisal of Vijay's role in taking up a political career seriously will have to take into account his first announcement made in February 2024. The same year, in Vikravandi, he held his maiden political meeting in October. After a few political flip-flops and opportunistic alliances with rival parties, his party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam – DMDK- is virtually extinct after the hero himself passed away, nearly two years ago. Like Vijay, Vijaykanth too was in his early '50s then, ready to sacrifice his cine career for a long innings in politics. The outcome is too well known to be repeated. Tamil Nadu will await for concrete steps from the new party to make them convinced that TVK may after all try and alleviate their miseries, an enduring legacy for decades.

TVK resolutions focus on caste killings, jobs, safety, environment

One of its key resolutions called on TN govt to enact a separate law to tackle caste killings. "Tamil Nadu, which once stood as a moral compass for social justice, now hangs its head in shame," the resolution said. "Even high court expressed concern over the rise in caste killings. Govt's refusal to enact a separate law, despite having the authority to do so, is unacceptable. TVK calls for immediate legislation to protect all communities and prevent such killings," it added. With more than four lakh govt posts lying vacant, the resolution said lakhs of youth are being denied fair employment. It urged DMK govt to abandon outsourcing and fill vacancies only through TNPSC and other recruitment boards, with priority for Tamil-medium graduates. Govt's failure to prevent violence against women and children, as well as unchecked drug peddling near schools and colleges, created a climate of fear and insecurity, said a resolution. TVK reiterated its opposition to the proposed airport at Parandur, saying the project threatened more than 5,700acres of fertile farmland and 13 water bodies crucial for drinking water and flood protection in Chennai and Kancheepuram. The party urged Union and state govts to find an alternative site. TVK demanded free and fair elections, criticising large-scale deletions in electoral rolls, particularly in Bihar, warning of "a similar special summary revision" in TN.
