Brigitte Macron ‘hired investigators to look into podcaster Candace Owens before suing her for ludicrous claim the French first lady is a man - and dug up links to far-right'

Daily Mail3 days ago
Lawyers hired by Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron hired top investigators to dig up dirt on podcaster Candace Owens before suing her for making allegations that France's First Lady is a man, it has been revealed.
The Macrons are suing Owens, a well-known rightwing political podcaster, after she made a series of 'outlandish, defamatory and far-fetched fictions', including that Brigitte was born a male.
As part of the legal process, the couple hired investigators from Nardello & Co., a top corporate intelligence firm, the FT reports.
In its report, Nardello & Co. described Owens' links to the far-right in France as well as her connections to right-wing populist figures in both the UK and US, along with her online interactions with a Russian nationalist.
They also reportedly outlined her shift from a self-identifying liberal in her early career to a conservative, as well as her support for Donald Trump that she recently dropped.
According to the newspaper, the investigators were tasked with documenting Owens' public statements and detailing her background.
Lawyers often task investigative firms with digging up information on people they intend to sue on their clients' behalf.
The Macrons' lawyer, Tom Clare, told the FT that their decision to sue came from their desire to understand why a conservative American podcaster has taken such an interest in them.
He added that the research provided by Nardello & Co. would allow the Delaware jury to be informed of the context in which Owens made her claims.
But Owens hit back following the revelation that the Macrons had hired a top investigations firm for the case.
She said: 'Brigitte Macron has once again been caught, and between lawyers, international PR teams, plus investigators, the couple is spending real money to quiet the paranoia of her past.
'Exactly how much money was spent to determine that out of a total of 12,704 tweets, I twice retweeted a Russian philosopher?
'Or that out of hundreds of speaking events worldwide, I once spoke at a conference in Paris with [far-right French policitian] Marion Marechal?'
The news comes after Owens revealed last week that Donald Trump personally called her to ask her to stop pursuing her story questioning the gender and identity of France 's first lady Brigitte Macron.
'I was called by Trump in February,' Owens told Carlson in a podcast interview released Friday, noting that the phone call took place after Emmanuel Macron had visited Trump at the White House.
Owens said that the request first came from someone at the White House who was 'pretty high up' who urged her to stop talking about Macron's wife.
She said she was insulted by the request, and told the person at the White House that she was not going to do it.
Trump later phoned her personally to talk about the issue, she said, and said that Macron pulled him aside on his way to his car to ask him about whether he knew Owens.
Trump, she said, was confused by the request.
'He sounded very confused. He said he was very confused when a leader of the leader of France took him aside during negotiations for Ukraine and Russia to inquire about whether or not he knew Candace Owens,' she said.
Owens first revealed additional details of the call in a podcast episode of her own, reflecting that Trump was very flattering.
'You must be a very powerful person Candace,' Owens revealed that Trump told her, but said that her reports were distressing Macron's wife.

Female teacher sent underwear pictures to boy, 15

A teacher sent pictures of herself in her underwear to a 15-year-old boy, a tribunal heard. Georgia Lowe, now 27, was caught when the 'inappropriate' notes were found by the boy's mother and has now been banned from the profession for life. Her relationship with him began with late-night email sessions using emojis and nicknames, months after she started in the role, a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel heard. When the relationship came to light, Lowe was suspended by the school, but she contacted the pupil again, sending him sexual images of herself, the TRA panel was told. After resigning, the teacher was found guilty of engaging in sexual communication with a child and was handed a 14-month suspended jail term, the panel heard. Lowe began working as a trainee teacher at Kingsmead School in Hednesford, Staffordshire, in July 2021. In September that year, when she was 'responsible' for the then 15-year-old, she began emailing him as late as 10pm, the panel was told. Her messages included heart symbol emojis, would often end with a kiss, and used nicknames, the panel heard. Lowe wrote to the pupil using phrases like 'make me proud', 'try not to miss me too much' and 'you've already made my day', the TRA was told. In October 2021, the boy's mother found notes she believed were from Lowe and reported her concerns to the school. An investigation was launched, and Lowe was suspended, the panel heard. Despite having 'a warning shot across her bows', the teacher contacted the boy again, and sent him intimate photos, the TRA was told. Lowe resigned in November 2021 and was charged by the police. She initially denied the charge before changing her plea to guilty on the day of trial, the panel heard. Lowe was sentenced to 14 months' jail, suspended for 18 months, and was put on the sex offender register for 10 years. 'Gross breach of trust' In his sentencing remarks, the judge said Lowe committed a 'gross breach of trust' and 'used the environment in which you were working with (the pupil) to pursue what was evidently your sexual interest in him'. 'You moved on to the passing of inappropriate notes to him, and ultimately, by the end of the period that we are concerned with, matters escalated to private digital communications between you and him, including you sending him images of yourself in your underwear,' the judge said. 'The concerning aspect of your case is that after matters came to light, by his mother having found out what was going on, you were spoken to, and yet you still had another face-to-face meeting with him at school, and ultimately, when the investigation was launched and you were suspended from work, you contacted him again, and that included the sending of the images of yourself to him. 'That was a warning shot across your bows, the investigation at school, and the suspension, but you did not bring your pursuit of him to an end at that point in time.' On behalf of the Secretary of State, decision-maker Marc Cavey said Lowe's behaviour was 'incompatible with working as a teacher'.

TikTok migrant who taunted Brits filmed sick ‘how to kill your wife' rant for followers weeks before arriving in UK

THE TikTok migrant who taunted Brits from his hotel room was reported to police for telling men how to kill their estranged wives in a vile video filmed weeks before he crossed to the UK. Parwiz Hanifyar, inset, who we can reveal as the man behind the Alexandra420 account, even told 70,000 followers how to cover up their crimes in a video filmed in Germany. 6 6 6 The Afghan, in his early 20s, even urges them to sink booze before attacking them to get a softer sentence. The misogynist's tirade was streamed in Germany before he paid smuggling gangs to get him across the Channel last Saturday. Hanifyar is now in a taxpayer-funded hotel near Heathrow. Last night he faced calls to be deported after his TikTok video was reported to UK authorities. Hanifyar, who posted as Alexandra420 before his account was banned, told his 70,000 followers last month: 'A brave man does not allow his wife to marry another man, even have children and live with someone else.' He tells viewers to buy a household item, which The Sun is not naming, to use as a weapon. He then adds: 'Before I kill her, I drink a bottle of alcohol. "Don't get too much drunk. "Kill her immediately. 'When the police comes, they say, he was drunk. "You will have academic courses in prison. 'After seven years, you have learned something, and you are only 30 and sexually very strong. 'Marry a new woman. You must do this technique.' Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP said last night: 'These quotes are sickening. HIS SICK RANT "I will let her sleep first. Before I kill her, I drink a bottle of alcohol. I have never drunk alcohol in my life, but I teach you the technique to get less punishment. Just drink a bottle of it. Don't get too much drunk. Kill her immediately. When the police comes, they say, he was drunk. How many years or prison you will get? 7 years. During 7 years you will have academic courses in prison. After seven years you have learned something and you are only 30 years old and sexually very strong. Marry a new woman. You must do this technique." "He is now in the UK and clearly a danger to women. "He should be arrested and immediately deported.' Hanifyar lived in Berlin for up to three years before he was moved to France, then here. TikTok influencer Lemar was among residents who reported Hanifyar to German authorities last month. Lemar said: 'This man has been very cruel to Afghan women in Germany. 'He said horrific things on his streams. "I believed he should have been arrested in Germany, but instead he was able to leave.' Earlier this week we told how Hanifyar held a live Q&A from his room at the Crowne Plaza. He urged others to pay smugglers to reach the 'soft-touch' UK, adding: 'This is the best place. Tell your friends to come.' The Home Office said it does not comment on individual cases. 6 6 6

Ukrainians are appalled at Trump's naive and cack-handed diplomacy

For Ukrainians, the spectacle of Putin and Trump meeting in Alaska will be repugnant. The man behind an unprovoked invasion of their country is being honoured with a return to the world stage by the leader of a country that was meant to be their ally. And they feel let down. President Trump had threatened severe sanctions on Russia within 50 days if Russia didn't agree to a deal. He had seemed close to imposing them before letting Putin wriggle off the hook yet again. But they are not surprised. At every stage, Trump has either sided with Russia or at least given them the benefit of the doubt. 3:44 Ukraine wants three things out of these talks. A ceasefire, security guarantees and reparations. It is not clear at this stage that they will get any of them. Ukrainians and their European allies are appalled at the naive and cack-handed diplomacy that has preceded this meeting. Vladimir Putin is sending a team of foreign affairs heavyweights, adept at getting the better of opponents in negotiations. There are, the Financial Times reported this week, no Russia specialists left at the Trump White House. Instead, Trump is relying on Steve Witkoff, a real estate lawyer and foreign policy novice, who has demonstrated a haphazard mastery of his brief and breathtaking credulity with the Russians. Former British spy chief Sir Alex Younger described him today as totally out of his depth. Trump, he says, is being played like a fiddle by Putin. There is a fundamental misunderstanding of the conflict at the heart of the Trump administration's handling of it. Witkoff and the president see it in terms of real estate. But it has never been about territory. Vladimir Putin has made it abundantly clear that Ukraine's existence as a sovereign democratic entity cannot be tolerated. He has made no pretence that his views on that have changed. Ukrainians know that and fear any deal cooked up in Alaska will be used by Putin on the path towards that ultimate goal
