RORY MCILROY incredibly hit TWO balls with one shot in never-before-seen scenes at The Open.
The Northern Irishman, 36, made a stunning start to his third round at Portrush with three birdies in his opening four holes.

But on the par-4 11th hole, he somehow managed the bizarre feat.
McIlroy's drive drifted right of the fairway and landed in the heavy rough.
He played his second shot attempting to get it on the green.
But as he whacked his ball out of the thick grass, a second ball popped up from the undergrowth.

The rogue ball had been plugged in the grass and lost for goodness knows how long.
It then dropped in front of McIlroy and rolled into his foot as he watched his actual ball fly towards the green.
He looked down to see the unlikely intruder sitting there.
A baffled McIlroy picked up the ball and held it up to the crowd and his caddie.

He said: 'I was on a golf ball.'
McIlroy then tossed the second ball into a bush.

Unfortunately, he went on to drop a shot and record his first bogey of the round.
But McIlroy bounced back on the next hole to sink an eagle.
Golf fans on social media were all talking about the freak incident.

Ex-Arsenal player Partey in UK court charged with rape, sexual assault
LONDON, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey appeared in a London court on Tuesday, charged with raping two women while he was a player for the English Premier League soccer club. Partey, a Ghana international, is accused of five counts of rape relating to two women, plus a charge of sexual assault against a third woman, between April 2021 and June 2022. The 32-year-old, who British media have reported is close to joining Spanish side Villarreal on a free transfer, sat in the dock dressed in black during the brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court. He was not asked to enter pleas to any of the charges. Partey was granted bail ahead of his next court appearance at London's Old Bailey court on September 2. Partey was signed by Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for 50 million euros ($57.7 million) in 2020 and became a key member of Arsenal's first team. He was first arrested in July 2022, though he was not named at the time and continued to play for Arsenal while investigations were ongoing. ($1 = 0.8663 euros)

Sevenoaks golf champ calls for prize money for amateur sport
World number one disabled golfer Kipp Popert says prize money is needed to encourage more amateur players to compete in adaptive sport. Sevenoaks-based Popert, 27, was diagnosed with a form of cerebral palsy called spastic diplegia that affects his lower body. He said: "I've been fortunate to have opportunities, but disabled people should be able to make a career out of it, like able-bodied men and women."Currently, an amateur playing in a handicap competition is not allowed to accept prize money under the International Golf Federation rules. Earlier this year, Popert was affected by fusion surgery in his left big toe, one of many physical setbacks he has then went on to win a third successive US Adaptive Open."I wasn't sure if I would even play, I'm really proud of it and I'm excited for the future," he said. "I want to show the world what disabled people can achieve." He now wants to convince more people about the ability of disabled golfers. Just because we're disabled doesn't mean the skill level isn't as high," he feels that making prize money available to everyone will encourage more players into the sport. "I'll make it happen if I can," he added.
