Morgantown Public Library holds annual indoor Easter egg hunt
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Morgantown Public Library hopped into spring with its annual indoor Easter egg hunt Sunday afternoon.
Children aged two to ten were invited to join in the celebration, where a series of age-appropriate egg hunts were organized to ensure that every child could participate in finding hidden treasures throughout the library.
Morgantown Public Library Employee Cathy Mcmaster was happy to see kids come out and participate.
'It's a really great time,' Mcmaster said. 'We have all kinds of fun activity stations. We also have a live bunny for the kids to pet, and we have a delicious Eat N Park cookie for them.'
Annual Peep Festival held at FSU in honor of Fairmont native
Library staff told 12 News that a new selection of spring books and movies are now available for checkout with a valid library card. Morgantown Public Library Youth Services Specialist Jenean Skousen is excited about the new additions.
'As the weather warms up and that sort of thing, they can get out and do stuff, and so we want them to come to the library and check out books and participate in our programs and that sort of thing,' Skousen said.
Staff at the Morgantown Public Library are also preparing for their upcoming summer reading program, Color Your World.

Swords, stories and more at Morgantown StoryFest
MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — The Morgantown Public Library held its annual celebration of storytelling on Sunday afternoon, this year with a Renaissance fair twist. This year, StoryFest was held in downtown Morgantown on Spruce Street. Staying true to its Renaissance theme, the event featured a period-accurate swordfighting demonstration from Black Bear Historical Fencing along with a mermaid read-along, a make-your-own family crest art station and several local vendors and authors. While it might seem like an unusual mix for an event put on by a local library, Outreach Coordinator for the Morgantown Public Library Abby Cyphert said it all boils down to storytelling in the end. 'We just think that storytelling matters so, so much, and it means so many different things, that's why we have all kinds of different guests,' Cyphert told 12 News. 'We have not just authors but artists, we have a mermaid, we have swordfighters, we have dancers, and it's just all different kinds of people who tell their stories in their own ways. Our big hope for the event is that people also want to tell their own stories after they come here.' Throughout the evening, attendees also got to hear readings from the Morgantown Writers Group, listen to other readings from firemen and poets and even say hello to Cooper, the mascot of the West Virginia Black Bears. Parenting in the age of social media is a unique beast. Between information overload and influencer overwhelm, there's a fervor for particular trends or products that can be A Lot. Recently, Reddit user ActualEmu1251 shared the toddler parenting trends they've HAD it with, and they made some points. Here's what they had to say: ActualEmu1251 also asked other parents what trends they're so done with, and even more points were made: "The 'holiday baskets' for every single holiday like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, July 4…Like, your child does not need a new book and holiday t-shirt and toy every time there is a special day!" "Over-the-top, elaborate birthday parties. No, I am not going to make a balloon arch or rent a bouncy castle or have a snack table with an array of different colored matching desserts and an original cocktail named after my child." "The gift opening at parties drives me nuts! It just makes all the other kids jealous that they can't play with all the stuff at the party." "Sad beige/grey/'pastel' toys and clothes for babies and toddlers because parents want their homes to look cute on social media instead of letting their kids enjoy color." "Not saying 'good job/well done' to kids and instead saying stuff like 'you really worked hard at that'."
