A family caught running a business selling "cannabis edibles" on social media have been ordered to pay back just a fraction of their ill-gotten gains. Father and daughter John and Chay Miles along with Chay Miles' partner Kyle Gadsby were caught after a package containing a brown liquid which smelt heavily of cannabis was intercepted in the post.
The discovery of the Pembrokeshire-bound package led to a raid which uncovered more than 11kg cannabis-infused sweets and another 14kg ready to be adulterated. Officers also found cannabis in liquid form.
All three defendants, of Primrose Avenue, Haverfordwest, denied any knowledge of the cannabis edibles operation with Chay Miles claiming she used the cannabis distillate to "marinade the chicken". When a police officer said to Gadsby "You have a sweet tooth in this house" the defendant responded that the sweets were bought in bulk as it would be cheaper for Chay's children than to buy them in the shops. Mobile phones seized during the raid showed Chay Miles was running the social media accounts for the drug-dealing operation on Instagram and Snapchat, and also that she had screenshots showing positive reviews from customers. Notes and images relating to cannabis edibles were also found on Gadsby's phone. John Miles was involved in the preparatory stages of the operation and helped to drum up business in the early stages.

In November last year John Miles, 51, was sentenced to three years prison, while Chay Miles, 28, and 19-year-old Kyle Gadsby were each sentenced to 27 months in prison after all three had pleading guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Gadsby's sentence also covered offences including possession of criminal property, dangerous driving, and possession of a bladed article which were committed in Northampton prior to his move to Wales to be with his partner.
When the case returned to Swansea Crown Court for a proceeds of crime hearing the court was told Chay Miles had benefited from her criminal conduct to the tune of £72,779 but financial investigators had only been able to identify £260 in available funds which was the value of a vehicle which had already been sold. The court heard John Miles had benefited to the tune of £44,205 and has £1,492 available - again in the form of vehicles - while Gadsby had benefited in the sum of £21,522 and has £1,941 in assets.

On May 15 this year, Brown was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Salford. He had recently jetted into nearby Manchester Airport to rehearse for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour. The singer has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm. He was initially denied bail and is expected to appear in person at Southwark Crown Court next month. District Judge Joanna Hirst told the court that the charge was too serious to be dealt with at the magistrates ' court. However, the 36-year-old star was later granted bail following a court plea. He was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee to the court. The financial guarantee is to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions. His lawyer, Grace Forbes, had argued that he was a public figure known worldwide as they pleaded for bail to be granted. As well as his Amsterdam performance, Brown is scheduled to perform in cities across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Cardiff. Despite his arrest, Brown's bail conditions enable him to continue with his scheduled international tour this year, including in the UK later this month and July. Following his release on bail, the American singer took to Instagram to tell his 144million followers: "From the cage to the stage!!! Breezybowl." Brown's bold post was seemingly in reference to the fact his bail conditions allow him to honour his tour commitments and perform across Europe ahead of his court date next month.

He said he loved me and I believed him and here we are. There is now a legal record of what happened. Violence has no excuse - no matter how much love preceded it. To those who questioned me for staying as long as I did: I stayed because I believed in love. I believed he and we could grow, could heal, could choose peace. But love doesn't survive in chaos. And it cannot survive where violence lives. To every woman reading this: if you've ever questioned your worth, your safety or your sanity in a relationship - this is your sign. They decided to investigate a suspect believed to be armed at 9.50pm. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby apartment as cops ran behind, according to Chicago Police Department Supt. Larry Snelling. When police entered the apartment, another person pointed a rifle at them. An officer discharged his weapon during the confrontation leading Rivera to be shot, Snelling said. As she was being transported to the local hospital, the police vehicle reportedly caught fire and as a result, Rivera had to be put in another car, according to Snelling. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. Another officer suffered a wrist injury, requiring hospitalization, according to Fox 32 Chicago. Dozens of police officers and firefighters paid their respects, walking in procession at 3am from the hospital to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office. The Chicago Police Department said Rivera was a 'courageous and compassionate officer who devoted her career to helping others and protecting our city'. He added: 'She was a hero, and she lost her life tragically doing the job that she loved. 'That was one of the things that her mother said, she loved her job, and the way that she worked.' In an Instagram post, the Chicago Fire Department posted a picture of the tragic officer, saying she 'made the ultimate sacrifice in service' to the city. According to Snelling, two people inside the apartment fled the apartment but were taken into custody soon after. He added that 'several individuals" are in custody, as three weapons were recovered from the scene. Police and the Chicago Office of Police Accountability, which assesses incidents that involve officers firing weapons, are conducting an investigation. Speaking about Rivera, Snelling said: 'She had already processed two other guns working that day. 'She was a working police officer trying to keep the street safe. And she did great work. "And if you talk to anyone on her team, they would tell you how great of a worker she was. "This is the risk that our officers take every single day.' Snelling added that "this happens way too often", saying: "An officer, a young officer, 36-years-old and four years on the job. Who was working hard… these officers are out here driving down crime while putting their lives at risk.
