Steam train visits Bradford for City of Culture
The West Yorkshireman service has been chartered by the Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company to mark the line's 150th anniversary and 200 years of passenger railways.
It will leave Bradford Forster Square Station at 08:30 BST before stopping to pick up passengers at Shipley, Bingley, Keighley, Skipton and Settle and heading to Carlisle.
John Moorhouse from the not-for-profit company said he wanted to "provide a unique opportunity to communities in this area of our line to experience the power of steam and celebrate our railway history and culture".
He added: "This is a very special year for the Settle-Carlisle line, marking the 150th anniversary of the line opening.
"It is also a very important year for the rail industry as we celebrate Rail200, the 200th anniversary of passenger rail.
"With Bradford also celebrating being the City of Culture, we wanted to mark these events in a special way - and what could be more spectacular than a steam engine pulling out of Bradford to take in the views along the Settle-Carlisle line?"
Passengers will be able to explore the landmarks of Carlisle, including the castle, cathedral and Tullie House Museum, before returning via the West Coast Main Line and the Bentham Line.
The West Yorkshireman will be hauled by the preserved locomotive the LMS 7P Scots Guardsman for the journey.
The company was set up in 1992 to support the line, which was at one point under threat of closure, and works with volunteers to maintain stations along the route.
Steam charters do not regularly call at Forster Square as the station is a terminus.

Call for 'young producers' to help shape Museum of North Craven Life
THE Museum of North Craven Life at The Folly, Settle, has put out a call to young people willing to help it shape the museum for years to come. The museum says it wants the voices and opinions of young people from 16 to 25-years old to be at the heart of what it does and has launched a new 'young producers' initiative. Isobel O'Donovan, community curator, said: "We are launching a new creative heritage project for young people who live in North Craven to help us shape the museum for years to come. "We are looking for people interested in history, art, storytelling or design, and if the answer to any of these questions is yes, then The Folly's young producers might be for you. ""Our young producers will meet once a month at The Folly, take part in creative activities, and experience the behind the scenes workings of the museum. By the end of the project, they will put together a creative output – this could be a zine, pop exhibit or event – the direction of the project will be chosen by the young people and supported by museum staff." Isobel said there are lots of reasons for young people to take part in the project. "Participants will have the opportunity to meet other young people with similar interests, try out new skills, and gain experience that could support future education or work opportunities," she said. Consultation on town's 15-year plan extended
An opportunity for people to have their say on a town's improvement plans has been extended. The consultation in Northampton has already attracted more than 1,300 responses, with the deadline now delayed by a fortnight to Monday, 25 August. A senior councillor said it was a "pivotal moment" and residents could "directly shape" the future of the town. Reform UK-controlled West Northamptonshire Council said suggestions received so far included making Northampton a distinctive leisure destination, which was "better at showcasing its heritage and identity". People also said they wanted the town to be easier and safer to walk and cycle around. When asked what made them proud about Northampton, respondents mentioned its rich history, beautiful historic buildings and shoemaking heritage. A masterplan was revealed last month, outlining several developments that were already taking place in Northampton and setting priorities for the future. Among the ideas were: Turning St James End into a gateway of sport Creating a "key arrival point" around the railway station Regenerating the Cattlemarket into a living and working space Founding a creative district celebrating shoemaking The council's cabinet member for local economy and culture James Petter said: "This is a pivotal moment for Northampton, and your input can directly shape the future of our town centre.
