Aldi launches Father's Day emergency gift box service
The supermarket chain has created an 'SOS Service' to help shoppers who have forgotten or don't have time to buy a gift for the big day.
They are offering a limited number of exclusive 'Aldi SOS' gift boxes, designed to 'knock the socks off' any father or fatherly figure.
These gift boxes will include a card to personalise, a bar of Aldi's Moser Roth Chocolate, and a pair of Aldi-themed socks.
How to get the Aldi emergency Father's Day gift box
To be in with a chance of receiving a gift box, shoppers simply need to email their name and email address to SOSService@aldi.co.uk.
Boxes will be sent out on a first-come, first-served basis, so shoppers are encouraged to act quickly.
People will have until Thursday, June 12, to apply for a box, and winners will be contacted on or before Thursday to provide their delivery address.
Full terms and conditions for this can be found on the Aldi website here.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: 'We know how much occasions like Father's Day mean to our shoppers, and we're committed to offering quality gifts at affordable prices.
'Our SOS Service means our customers can celebrate their loved ones even if they're shopping last minute, helping to make Father's Day special for everyone.'
Is Father's Day the same in the UK and the USA?
The date for Father's Day in the UK and the USA is always the same, taking place on the third Sunday in June.
For 2025, this means it will fall on Sunday, June 15 and in 2026 it will be on Sunday, June 21.
This is different to Mother's Day, which has two separate dates in the UK and the USA.
Mother's Day in the UK is marked on the fourth Sunday of Lent, while Mother's Day in the United States is not associated with any religious background.
Instead, it came into being in 1914, after a campaign was launched by Anna Jarvis, an American woman whose mother died in May.
The Economic Times reports that President Woodrow Wilson established that it would take place on the second Sunday of May.

Is there an international Father's Day?
While Father's Day is celebrated around the world, there isn't a set date that every country follows.
Countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, France, Mexico, India and South Africa celebrate it on the third Sunday in June.
Meanwhile, Brazil celebrates it on the second Sunday in August, and Australia and New Zealand do so on the first Sunday of September.

Aldi's Scottish gin under £20 named 'best in the world' at awards ceremony
The Scottish-made gin wowed a panel of expert judges with its "elegant" and "classic" flavour profile. Aldi's Còmhla Scottish Gin has been something of a trailblazer. Since its launch a couple of years ago, it has racked up multiple awards and glowing praise. And now it has another win under its belt, as the budget-friendly tipple has just taking home the coveted title as the World's Best Classic Gin at the prestigious World Gin Awards 2025. The acclaimed awards ceremony recognises the very best of the best across a range of lucrative brands, with the German discounter's gin beating out tough competition from over 20 countries including USA, Germany and China. Retailing at a humble £19.99 for a 70cl bottle, the Còmhla Scottish Gin ensures that gin lovers and shoppers will be able to bag premium quality at an affordable price. After a rigorous blind tasting of hundreds of entries across the globe, Aldi's Scottish-made London dry gin managed to wow the expert judging panel with its "elegant" and "classic" flavour profile. The World Gin Awards' description for Aldi's win read: "This gin presents a shy yet clean nose with a hint of dusty elegance and a subtle woody note reminiscent of moss. On the palate, it showcases a classic blend of juniper, coriander, and citrus, accompanied by chilli heat and slight bitterness. While the flavours are complex, they lack full integration, leading to a balanced yet somewhat short and dry finish." Aldi's Còmhla is a classic London dry gin that is crafted in small batches, boasting a well-balanced blend of notes including juniper, coriander and citrus, rounded off with a hint of bitterness. Despite only being launched in 2023, it has already been the subject of significant praise from experts, scooping prizes for its quality and flavour profile and multiple prestigious ceremonies. The Scottish-made gin previously bagged the coveted 'Gold' award in the 'premium' Gin Masters category of the 2024 Spirits Business Awards, a ceremony championed by leading spirits specialists. Before it managed to nab the most recent title as "the best in the world", it was previously named "the best in the country" at the 2025 World Drink Awards. Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director at Aldi Scotland, said: "We have had an incredible response for Còmhla both from our loyal customers and the wider drinks industry. To be named the Best Classic Gin in the world is the ultimate honour. "Scotland may be small, but we consistently punch above our weight on the world food and drink stage. To be able to compete at such as high standard and to win, is testament to the craftsmanship and skill of our homegrown suppliers, and to the strength of the longstanding partnerships we have formed with them." Aldi's Còmhla Scottish Gin joins a cabinet of award-winning tipples that can be purchased from Aldi, as the supermarket's Haysmith's Seville Orange & Persian Lime Gin was also voted 'Best in the County' at the same gin awards ceremony in 2024. Costing just £14.99 for a 70cl, this trendy, citrus-based drink isn't just an award-winner, but it is also 46 percent cheaper than Tanqueray's popular Flor De Sevilla Orange which it has been compared to. Aldi's best in the world Còmhla Scottish Gin(70cl) retails at £19.99 and can be bought in all 109 stores across Scotland.

Aldi selling new fruity bubble teas but shoppers startled by price
Two new bubble tea flavours from The Juice Company have been spotted on the shelves of Aldi – but shoppers have been left startled by the amount of sugar in them and the cost Bubble tea is a highly popular drink in the UK now. The tea-based beverage, often containing chewy tapioca balls, milk, and flavouring, originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s. However, it is now a staple on the UK high street and is even served by the likes of Costa Coffee. So it's no surprise that supermarket Aldi has jumped on the trend and is offering some new fruity bubble tea flavours in-store. Two new bubble tea flavours from The Juice Company were spotted on the shelves of Aldi by popular account NewFoodsUK, who shared their finding on their Facebook page. One of these ready-to-drink flavours was passion fruit and mango, while the other was wild berry and blueberry. However, although a lot of supermarket shoppers seemed excited about the drinks, with hundreds of people liking the post and tagging their friends in it, others were stunned by one detail – the amount of sugar in them. The packaging showed that the drinks each contained 40.1g of sugar each in them, which is nearly half (45%) of your daily sugar recommendation. One person exclaimed: "40g of sugar," followed by a shocked emoji as many others liked the post. Another Facebook user replied: "Think I will pass." Someone else meanwhile wrote: "Ridiculously high in sugar," while a third person also pointed out the sugar content. A fourth also sarcastically added: "Not a lot of sugar in them at all..." As well as the sugar content, some people also weren't impressed with the price, which many claim is £3.99. One shopper moaned: "£3.99 for them… daylight robbery," while another agreed: "£3.99 thought it was a bit overpriced." However, someone else argued: "Had one yesterday from one of my local Aldis in the area and £3.99 for it wasn't bad price to be fair." Despite the gripes, many people admitted they 'couldn't wait to try them', meanwhile someone else who'd already had a taste shared their view, writing: "Tried the passion fruit one yesterday it was nice." Aldi has been contacted for comment. The news comes after another Aldi drink that 'lowers cholesterol and blood sugar' has been hitting budget supermarket is now selling a kombucha drink, which is also known for its immune system and gut health-boosting properties. Being sold at £1.69, shoppers can buy a 330ml bottle of The Juice Company Kombucha in stores. The nutritional drink is available in three flavours - including passionfruit, ginger and lemon and wild berry.
