Diddy trial verdict: Rosie O'Donnell, 50 Cent and more stars react
Rosie O'Donnell shared on Instagram, "Guess a jury just never wants to believe that a woman stays because of power and coercion—wow—they just think women stay because what? money—fame—'they love the abuse.' What a f---ing joke. This decision got me angry."
Rapper 50 Cent appeared to show his support for Diddy.
"Diddy beat the Feds," he wrote, "that boy a bad man ! beat the Rico."
Queen Latifah shared her thoughts on Diddy's ex-girlfriends who testified against the disgraced rapper during the intense nearly two-month trial as well as "all the other people harmed over the decades."
"Please send prayers for Cassie and all the other people harmed over the decades. All that evidence and people still don't believe women the first time," she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Cassie's attorney spoke out after Diddy's trial reached a verdict.
"This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023. Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice," Douglas H. Wigdor said in a statement.
"We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial. She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors."
On Wednesday, the jury found Diddy not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He was found guilty on both counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
A federal RICO violation can result in a 20-year sentence. The transportation to engage in prostitution charge could carry a sentence of up to 10 years, while sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion may carry a 20-year sentence.
"We've been saying all along in this case that it's been overcharged by the government, that they were taking these very nuanced relationships, and trying to make them criminal," Harvey Weinstein's former lawyer, Donna Rotunno, told Fox News. "I think Marc [Agnifilo] did a really good job in his closing arguments, highlighting that to the jury. Overall, this is a huge loss to the government, the money that they spent on this prosecution, the amount of press, notoriety, this is a definite win for Mr. Combs."

Connecticut law that allows towing companies to sell seized cars after just 15 days is predatory, critics say
Waterbury, Connecticut — There is a controversial law in Connecticut that allows tow truck companies to sell the cars they tow after just 15 days. Critics of the law call it predatory and say private tow truck operators are targeting working class neighborhoods. Paul Boudreau and Greta Blau of Waterbury, Connecticut, had their car towed in 2021. "They said it was because the registration was expired," Boudreau said. "DMV had just reopened at that point, there was about a six- to 10-week wait to register a car even." A few weeks later they found out their car was going to be sold. "And I lost the car," Boudreau said. "…And that's perfectly legal in Connecticut. People can't come up with $300 to $600 to $800 in an evening." The couple told CBS News their apartment complex was targeted for years. "They took 1,000 cars in two years," Blau said of her complex. The problem got so bad, Boudreau and Blau helped set up a neighborhood watch, keeping an eye out for one specific company. "The guy who tows the cars, the name of the company, is LLC," Blau said. "He targets places like these complexes where working class people live, where poor people live." Their property manager eventually barred MyHoopty from coming to their apartment complex, but CBS News discovered the company was still targeting other complexes in the area by staking out another complex overnight. At about 5:30 a.m. local time, the CBS News crew saw the glowing lights of a MyHoopty tow truck and watched as it stopped at a CBS News producer's car, fully intent on towing it away. The crew moved the car before that could happen. "Rules are set to ensure that most residents that have a right to park there, can park as close to their property as possible," Michael Festa, owner of MyHoopty, told CBS News. When asked whether he believes what his company is doing is right, Festa responded, "I think it's right and just to enforce the rules of the (apartment) complex."

‘Fantastic Four' and ‘Nip/Tuck' star Julian McMahon dead at 56
Actor Julian McMahon, one of the two leads of seminal FX television series 'Nip/Tuck' who also played Dr. Doom in the 'Fantastic Four' movies from the 2000s, has died. He was reportedly 56. The news was confirmed by a statement on the official 'Nip/Tuck' Facebook page, and an additional statement from his wife Kelly McMahon who told Deadline on Friday that her husband 'died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.' McMahon starred opposite Dylan Walsh in the Ryan Murphy-created 'Nip/Tuck' following two upscale plastic surgeons and their exploits. The series ran for six seasons between 2003 and 2010, and was nominated for 18 Primetime Emmys, winning one for best prosthetic makeup. Concurrently, he played Dr. Victor Von Doom in the 'Fantastic Four' movies costarring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans from 2005 and 2007. (Dr. Doom is the villain soon to be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming 'Avengers: Doomsday.') McMahon's notable additional credits include recurring characters on TV's 'Charmed' and 'Profiler.' The Australian-American actor also recently appeared in 'FBI: Most Wanted' and Netflix's 'The Residence.' With a resume of credits that began in the late 1980s, McMahon worked up until recently, with a role in the new Nicolas Cage movie 'The Surfer,' out this summer.
