King Charles follows Harry and Meghan's footsteps with surprising new move
King Charles has teamed up with an unlikely movie star in a Netflix documentary about the 'power of believing in young people'.
The monarch is offering a rare insight into The King's Trust as he celebrates the charity's 50th anniversary alongside Idris Elba.
The documentary is set to be broadcast next year with filming to begin next week, according to the Telegraph.
This comes after Meghan Markle announced today that she is expanding her As Ever brand with its first alcoholic offering of a rosé wine.
The Netflix film is being made in collaboration with The King's Foundation and is being filmed at Dumfries House in Scotland.
Made by Elba's own production company, 22 Summers, it will mark the King's first collaboration with Netflix, joining the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who have made several documentaries for the streaming platform.
But it will not be his first venture into documentary making.
In January it was revealed that the monarch will be appearing in a feature-length film on Amazon Prime about his 'philosophy of harmony'.
The Netflix film will also involve young people supported in the trust so that they can build experience in film and TV.
The King's Trust began in 1976 when the King used his £7,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy to create The Prince's Trust, helping disadvantaged young people get into education and jobs.
Ahead of the documentary, Elba has spoken about how the charity changed his life.
The actor was just 16 when he was awarded a £1,500 grant that helped him to train at the National Youth Music Theatre.
Despite initially thinking it was a waste of time, he came home from school one day to find a letter containing the money.
Discussing the trust and his own charity, the Elba Hope Foundation, he said: 'The King's Trust gave me an opportunity that changed my life.
'At a time when I didn't have the resources to pursue my ambitions, they offered real, practical support – including financial help – that helped me take those first steps to advance my career.
'Today, through the Elba Hope Foundation, I'm focused on creating those same opportunities for young people who are full of potential but lacking access. Around the world, millions are still waiting for that one door to open. More Trending
'This documentary is about shining a light on what's possible when it does – and why the work of The King's Trust remains so important.'
Earlier this month, the King made an appearance in east London for the city's first ever SXSW festival.
The Kingdom Choir, who performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding in 2018, sang to Charles while he toured the event in Shoreditch.

All of these claims are, however, understood to be denied by Netflix and Light Box Media, which are fully defending the action.

Jonathan Bailey 'risked being seconds from death' filming Jurassic World Rebirth
Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey has opened up about joining the Jurassic Park franchise, with him appearing alongside Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in the new film Actor Jonathan Bailey has teased that he risked his life whilst working on Jurassic World Rebirth. He's revealed that he filmed alongside potentially lethal snakes for his role but shared his excitement over the experience. Jonathan, 37 - known for his roles in Bridgerton and more recently Wicked - said he was told that the serpents could kill him within seconds on the set of the Jurassic World film, which is set to be released next month. He's shared that he was instructed on safety measures to avoid a fatal encounter. As reported by the Daily Star, Jonathan recalled: "When you're making a movie, you want to feel the world of the movie as much as possible." He went on to say that he worked on scenes in snake-infested waters for the project. He said: "And my gosh, do you feel it when you're up to your waist in snake-infested waters. You have snake wranglers around you who do make you feel safe, but they also say things like 'be careful around this one. If you get bit, you die in 10 seconds'." He expressed excitement over appearing in the franchise through, saying: "That kind of moment speaks to the visceral thrills that Jurassic movies are all about! I had never had that kind of experience on a set before. It was all very exciting and I hope it's matched by the film." Jonathan suggested that he didn't shy away from stunts whilst on location in Thailand. Describing one intense scene from the production, as reported by the outlet, he said that his "inner child" was "screaming with delight". He said: "We had to shoot a scene where my character must pull someone back into a boat because she's falling off the side. I had water cannons blasting me, the boat's flipping around, and my inner child, which isn't all that inner, was just screaming with delight." Jonathan stars as palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World Rebirth, which is the seventh instalment in the long-running film franchise that previously starred Chris Pratt. He leads the cast with Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. Jonathan has shared that he relished the opportunity to play the character. He said about his role in Jurassic World Rebirth: "To play Henry, who embodies the love of nature and our best curiosities about it, was great fun." It's the latest high-profile role in Jonathan's career. In recent years, he's starred as Fiyero Tigelaar in Wicked (2024). He's set to reprise the role in sequel Wicked: For Good (2025), which is scheduled to be released in November. Jonathan is also known for playing Lord Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix series Bridgerton. The show launched on the streaming platform in 2020 and his character was the focus of the second season, which aired in 2022. He's teased that he's been a fan of Jurassic Park for years, having been introduced to the franchise as a child. He said: "I was five when my family took me to Jurassic Park, so a questionable choice by my parents. The characters were so vivid and because it was Spielberg, it was a sumptuous escapist delight."

Meghan Markle is 'scared' to return to the UK and Harry is a 'huge target' Trooping the Colour 2025 marked another significant blow to relations within the Royal Family as Prince Harry steered clear. The Duke of Sussex was not in attendance at last weekend's celebration of the King's official birthday. Queen Camilla joined Charles, as well as Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children George,11, Charlotte,10, and seven year old Louis. Harry was last in the UK in May, where he suffered defeat at the High Court over his ongoing battle to have security measures reinstated for him and his family when they visit from the US. The Duke of Sussex then gave an interview, where he revealed he hoped to reunite with his father but he couldn't bring his family to the UK until wife Meghan Markle and kids Archie, two, and Lilibet, four, were guaranteed to be 'safe'. Now a royal expert claims it's not likely the youngsters will ever build up a close relationship with their cousins, or spend much time in the UK, because of Harry and Meghan's worries, writes the Mirror. Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe said: 'Meghan understandably feels scared about coming to the UK with the children. 'The threats are real and genuine. The threat is from lunatics, radical protesters that might want to make a name for themselves by jumping in front of them. Then of course you have the worst type, the terrorist threat. And there's no doubt Harry – and his family, as a result – is a huge target.' Former actress Meghan recently embarked on a change of direction in her career, with her recent eight-part Netflix show With Love, Meghan topping charts across the globe. Earlier today, she took to social media to share her delight as her lifestyle brand As Ever products once again sold out in minutes following an announcement of a restock earlier this week. She's also been pictured in recent months enjoying a Beyonce gig and shared intimate family moments from a holiday to Disneyland in a reel of posts to Instagram. Earlier this month she and Harry hit the headlines once again as they shared their viral Baby Momma dance clip which was filmed when she went into labour with Lilibet. But despite Meghan feeling 'stronger' than ever and sharing fun parts of her life with fans, she's still hugely worried about the safety of her nearest and dearest. A source told the Mirror: 'In some ways she's feeling stronger and she wants to share that. 'But she's still terrified of putting her kids at risk by coming back to the UK – any parent would panic if they were in Meghan's shoes. 'So even though Harry is really feeling the absence of his dad, especially after Trooping the Colour and Father's Day, the security stuff will probably always be an issue. 'He knows that things could've been so different if things had gone another way, but it's been five years since they left the UK and the chances of them coming back, even for a visit, seem slim to none. It's heartbreaking.' In May, Harry gave a controversial interview with the BBC in which he said he 'would love reconciliation' with his family. Duncan Larcombe reckons that the duke is probably 'full of regrets' now about being so candid. He added: 'Harry is a sensitive soul and always wore his heart on his sleeve, so whether he'd admit it publicly or not, I'm sure he's full of regrets and wishes he'd done things differently. 'With Trooping the Colour and Father's Day falling on the same weekend, it was bound to make him look back at the happy relationships he once had with his brother and dad, and I'm sure he'd love to be able to rebuild those.' Duncan also states that Princess Diana's death is something that is an ever-present thought for Meghan and Harry, as a 'contributing factor' to her horror crash in Paris in 1997 was the lack of official protection from the Metropolitan Police. The expert explains that official royal security is armed and round the clock, provided by top Met Police officers as well as MI5, who 'surround them in a ring'. He added: 'Without the official support and security, Harry and Meghan are left with two or three bodyguards who are pretty blind to what the potential threats are.'
