Wrexham AFC: Andy Mangan leaves Stockport for Botafogo role
Mangan, who scored 24 goals in 65 Conference games for Wrexham between 2010 and 2011, was on the verge of joining Ancelotti and father Carlo at Real Madrid in September, but the move did not go ahead after his work permit was rejected.
The former Fleetwood striker joined the Stockport coaching staff last summer and helped the team earn a third-place finish in League One, where they were then defeated in the play-off semi-finals.
A Stockport statement said: 'We wish Andy well in this exciting new chapter of his career and thank him for his efforts during his time with us.'

Reading, who on Saturday lost their opening League One fixture of the season 2-0 at Lincoln, have money to spend after midfielder Harvey Knibbs joined Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee. Fellow Hale admirers Wycombe Wanderers were also defeated in their first game 2-1 at Bradford. Scottish Premiership clubs are monitoring the situation but it seems the English sides have moved ahead in the race. Belfast native Hale played at youth and Under-21 level for the Republic of Ireland but last year opted to go through a protracted FIFA process to complete an international transfer to Northern Ireland. Having waited patiently for his first appearance for O'Neill's side, he started in the 1-0 friendly win over Iceland at Windsor Park and looked dangerous in attack. After enjoying his first taste of senior international football, Hale is hungry for more and is determined to give himself the best chance possible of playing in the World Cup games.

Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane relieved to emerge from ‘mad' game with victory
Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane was glad to come out on the right side of a 'mad' game as the Tykes got their Sky Bet League One campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 League One win at Plymouth. Barnsley led 2-0 at half-time thanks to a Brendan Wiredu own goal and a thumping volley by Adam Phillips. Makeshift striker Caleb Watts got the Pilgrims back into the game and Barnsley were reduced to 10 men when central defender Jack Shepherd was sent off for a second caution after 63 minutes. The Tykes sealed victory when Davis Keillor-Dunn scored in the 83rd minute. Hourihane said: 'It was a frantic, bit of everything opening game so I am just delighted to come away with something in the end. I think it was just a bit of a mad game, to be honest. 'So much happened you know, cards, that disallowed goal at the start. 'There were some good goals from our point of view as well. We played some good stuff, particularly when went down to 10 men. I am just glad to come out the other side of it really. 'There were some decisions in the game where some went for you, some went against you and like I said, a bit of a frantic game. 'It's a long, long season so there's nothing to get too excited about. 'We would have lost that last year, no question. We had a couple of situations last year where we may have been ahead and folded a little bit, but there's seems like a bit of an edge to this group and the culture togetherness that we've tried to bond over the course of preseason. 'That was there to see in abundance in the game. 'I know this team will score goals. You know, Dave McGoldrick, Adam Phillips, Keillor-Dunn and Caylan Vickers. We've got goals in us. There's no question about it. 'Technically Adam's an outstanding footballer, you know, it was a great goal technically and I am delighted for him.' New Plymouth head coach Tom Cleverley has urged his side to tighten up defensively. Cleverley said: 'You can't question the players' application, their work ethic, their character to stick with it at 2-0 down, and I felt like there was only one team that was going to press on. 'We maybe didn't manage that part of the game well enough as when we were 2-1 and looking like scoring the next goal, an unforced every or two let them off the hook, maybe not being tight enough at the back, gave them a chance. 'The overriding feeling is there was a lack of conviction in what we did without the ball today. 'Today highlighted if we are half-hearted in what we do we will be punished. 'We know we are lacking a centre forward so I thought Caleb Watts was our shining star today. He did an excellent job and got his goal in that role. 'Even though we don't have a starting nine it's in defensive areas we need to look at ourselves.'

Michael Skubala felt Lincoln were just too strong for Reading
Michael Skubala felt his Lincoln side had too much for Reading as they opened their League One campaign with a 2-0 win at the LNER Stadium. Rob Street put the hosts ahead after 21 minutes, latching on to George Wickens' clearance and squeezing the ball past Joel Pereira via a deflection. Street went close again before Mamadi Caba Camara's strike for Reading was ruled out for offside. Jack Moylan saw his close-range header superbly saved by Pereira just after the interval, before Lewis Wing almost levelled for the visitors when his fierce shot was pushed on to the post by Wickens. But the Imps doubled their lead in the 67th minute when Reeco Hackett finished coolly after latching on to Conor McGrandles' inch-perfect through ball to secure the win. Lincoln manager Skubala said: 'I thought we were solid. You want to start well on the first day and I thought today, as a group, we had too much for Reading. 'We want this place to be a hard place to come and the fans play a massive part in that and they were fantastic today. 'We had to weather a few moments but I think all-in-all it was a hell of a team performance. 'We want to be aggressive, not just in the duels, we want to go forward and put teams under pressure and get on top of teams. 'We want teams to fear us when they come here and there were some magnificent performances today. 'The lads have worked so hard, you can knock on the door or just stop but they kept knocking on the door and I think we could have scored more. 'The effort, the endeavour and the grind, they just couldn't handle us as a team and that's what we want to be. We want to be the strongest team we can be.' Reading manager Noel Hunt felt the Royals were unlucky to seee a goal chalked off. Hunt said: 'It was a tough day and we knew it was going to be tough as Lincoln have a good record up here. 'It's a hard one to take as we had a goal disallowed for offside when the player was three yards onside and it's baffling to me how that can happen at this level. 'It's all about fine margins and I thought we took control of the game after the first goal up until the second went in and then I think we dropped off a little. 'It will take a few weeks for some of the new boys to settle in but I still thought there were really good spells in the second half and much of the first half to give us something to look at. 'The players are all in an okay place, of course nobody wants to lose and they are a bit sore about that after the game, but I said we've got to stick together and work to improve.'
