Ayaz, Shamyl, Mohsin shine in President's Trophy
On the Strike Rate table, of the three, Shamyl stands as number one with 72.94, way ahead of Taswar 58.46 and Mohsin 68.95.
Significantly, Ayaz's heroics couldn't bring Wapda up in the final rankings nor could Mohsin save HEC from being demoted to grade II on account being at the bottom of the rankings.
Shamyl's double hundred (229 on 274 balls, 29x4s, 4x6s, the fastest of the tournament's total four) against Ghani Glass and his audacious 137-ball 143 not out (14x4s, 4x6s) against Eshaal Asst got PTV two crucial victories to make it to the number one slot, jumping over heavy hitters like SNGPL, Ghani Glass, OGDCL.
PTV had no media hyped names and except for one match where Imam ul Haq made appearance with a significant hundred, all of their known stars like Fakhar Zaman, Fahim Ashraf were away for the Champion's Trophy leaving it to the young shoulders to carry the burden.
PTVs Muhammad Taha (5th in the national ranking for the tournament) Muhammad Shahzad (8th on the table), and Waqar Hussain (9th in the list) all played remarkable cricket to keep their team ahead of the rest. Shamyl, the youngest of the lot, topscored for the team in 4 out of the 7 matches he featured.
Shamyl's 86 fours and 10 sixes put him way ahead of the senior players in terms of stroke-play capabilities. PTV's Muhammad Shahzad lead the table of maximums (16) and along with his mates (Taimur, Taha and Shamyl) share the honour of hitting the largest number of boundaries (4x6) in the tournament.
The final of this prestigious tournament is set for the next week in Rawalpindi between table topper PTV and its next rival, SBP. It is likely to be a four-night, pink ball game.

Azan and Shamyl lead run tables
Pakistan's new cricket stars Azan Awais and Shamyl Hussain lead the runs table in the recently-concluded Shaheen's tour of England. Shaheens, headed by Pakistan's national test- team vice captain Saud Shakeel, won the ODI series 2/1 while the two three-day matches were resultless. The series played in Kent, Hove and Canterbury grounds, saw the young blood dominate the proceedings through their consistency and wining partnerships. The overall batting honours again were shared by Azan and Shamyl among the Shaheen batters whose total runs tallies surpassed other performers. As per PCB website, Shamyl top-scored for his team in the three matches combined runs. In the list of top scorers from both sides, he is number 2 behind England's Luc Benkenstein, whose series tally was 197. Ali Zaryab (166), Haider Ali (159), Rohail Nazir (136) Saud Shakeel (128) and Muhammad Suleman were the other main run getters. Omair Bin Yousuf (77) Maaz Sadaqat (61) were the other batters with some the two, Shamyl's strike rate was 74 while Azan's was 53, befitting the battling styles of both, the former being a fluent stroke player while the latter a patient accumulator. The two also lead last year's first class run tables with Azan the highest run getter in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy's with 844 runs helping his region, Sialkot to win the title. Shamyl Hussain was the second highest run maker in the President's Trophy amassed 727, including the tournament's fastest double hundred and guided his department, PTV, to clinch the trophy. The team is returning home today.

PSB forms inquiry committee over athlete disappearances during FISU Games
The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate administrative irregularities and athlete disappearances during Pakistan's participation in the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany. According to a notification issued with the approval of the PSB Director General, the committee has been tasked with probing serious lapses, including the reported disappearance of two student-athletes, questionable selection of team officials, disciplinary issues, and logistical mismanagement.
