Lotus Says the Emira Will Be Even Better to Drive for 2026

Motor 15 days ago

Although Lotus only began
selling the Emira in the United States last year
, the automaker is already improving the sports car.
The Emira debuted in 2021
and went on sale in some parts of the world in 2022. For 2026,
Lotus
has made several technical upgrades that enhance its track performance while improving daily comfort.
All new Emiras feature rerouted cooling system lines that improve flow to the transmission oil cooler and main radiator. The new piping also lowers the vehicle's weight, which is always a win. Lotus also recalibrated the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission for smoother, quicker shifts. There are also two new colors: EOS Green and Purple Haze metallic.

The V-6-powered
Emira
also receives some upgrades. It's now called the V6 SE, and it's the model's new flagship. The 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 is the same as before, producing 400 horsepower, but Lotus optimized the dampers and made "subtle adjustments in wheel alignment" for better handling and comfort.
The six-speed manual transmission is standard in the Emira V6 SE, and Lotus said it's improved its shift quality with a new compression mount for the gearbox. The company says the upgrade will result in "more precise gear changes."

The Emira Turbo, the model's entry point, features the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the
Turbo SE
. It also has the newly refined eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Lotus Emira Turbo starts at £79,500 ($107,969 at today's exchange rate), while the V6 SE costs £96,500 ($131,057). Order books are now open, with the updated sports car set to begin arriving in showrooms in September.
Motor1
has reached out to Lotus to see when US customers can expect the updated Emira to go on sale Stateside.

SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD Hits All-Time New Low Price, Backed by 4.6-Stars and Nearly 80K Reviews

Keeping your most important files safe can be a bit of a hassle if you have multiple computers and multiple hard drives. Plus, traditional hard drives can be slow, bulky, and vulnerable to bumps and drops. Not exactly the kind of risks anyone wants to take when it comes to managing data. That's where solid-state drives (SSDs), especially those like this SanDisk portable SSD, come in. And if you don't already have one, it might be time that you changed that, especially since you can save some cash right now. See at Amazon Right now, you can check out Amazon to get the SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD for just $145, down from its usual price of $210. That's $65 off and a discount of 31%. Super storage at an even better price This hard drive is perfect for anyone on the go or those who like to make sure they've got all their important files with them at all times. That's because it's fast and reliable. It's compact enough to slip into your pocket, and its rubberized exterior gives it a grip-friendly, shock-resistant finish that doesn't feel delicate. According to SanDisk, it's also drop-rated up to three meters and boasts an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. In other words, this drive can take a licking and keep on ticking. It has up to 1,050MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write speeds, so you get near-instant file transfers, assuming your device supports USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 or better. That makes it perfect for moving large 4K videos, photo libraries, or other large to enormous files without waiting around. And because it's bus-powered, you won't need to fumble with external power cords or bulky adapters. You can just plug it in and let it ride. It's compatible with Windows, macOS, and other devices, and has a five-year limited warranty. For many, it's the kind of tool that just becomes essential over time. You might start using it for work, then travel, then everyday backups, and suddenly you're wondering how you ever managed without it. And for good reason. It's super handy to have around! Since you can get it for under $200 right now, you definitely should. Don't wait around, though, as it will likely go out of stock. Whether you're upgrading your current setup or investing in better protection for your digital files, this is a smart move that could pay off the next time you need fast, reliable storage. Even if it's just a bunch of pictures of you and your dog. See at Amazon

Report: Meta taps Scale AI's Alexandr Wang to join new ‘superintelligence' lab

In Brief Meta plans to unveil a new AI research lab dedicated to 'superintelligence' as the company works to compete in the AI race, according to several reports. Meta has tapped Scale AI founder and CEO Alexandr Wang to join the new lab, The New York Times reports. Meta has been in talks to invest billions into Scale AI as part of a deal that would bring Scale AI employees to Meta. Meta has also been poaching lead researchers from OpenAI and Google, per the Times. The new lab comes as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg grows frustrated with his company's AI shortfalls. Bloomberg reports he has been meeting with AI researchers and engineers at his homes in Lake Tahoe and Palo Alto to personally recruit a team of around 50 people, including a new head of AI research. Sources told Bloomberg that Zuckerberg believes Meta can and should outpace other tech companies gunning to achieve AGI, the still-undefined idea that AI systems could exceed human performance in many tasks. Meta AI last month reached 1 billion monthly active users.

Tackle Your Lawn Projects With This 8-in-1 Back-Saving Worx Cart for Only $170 Today

Summer is a little more than a week away, and if you're still seeking a great gift for Dad, don't miss this one-day deal. Maintaining your lawn and garden during the hottest season is a big task. Make it easier on Dad (or yourself) by investing in the right tools for the task. If you want to save time -- and some wear and tear on your body -- a garden cart may be the missing tool in your toolbox. The Worx Aerocart 8-in-1 yard cart is not your ordinary wheelbarrow, and right now it's on sale for just $170 at Best Buy, a $60 savings off the list price. Other outlets have this cart listed for $265, so you're really saving nearly $100 on a dynamic piece of equipment you'll use for years to come. Whether you're hauling sticks and other debris or shifting large potted plants, the Worx Aerocart can help you get the job done. It can hold up to 300 pounds and allows you to move this weight without the effort a regular wheelbarrow requires. In fact, the cart can make a 200-pound load feel closer to 17 pounds. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. This is due to the aerodynamic design that doesn't place all the strain on your arms like a traditional wheelbarrow. It also doesn't put all the balance on one wheel. Essentially, it uses two-wheeled placement to shift the fulcrum so the center of gravity is optimized for whatever load you're carrying. You work with gravity, not against it. Best Grills for 2025: Grilling Season Is Back and So Are My Top Recommendations The cart functions as a wheelbarrow, yard cart, bag holder, dolly, extended dolly, cylinder carrier, rock or plant mover and a trailer tote all in one. It features sturdy, flat-free tires and a handful of accessories: cylinder holder, bag holder, plant mover strap and rock mover mesh to help you maximize the cart's effectiveness. Why this deal matters For a lot of us, the summer months mean spending a lot more time outdoors. Whip your yard into shape without breaking your back with this helpful and versatile cart. It's down to $170 right now -- a $60 discount and only $10 more than the lowest price we've seen. This deal ends tonight, so act fast if you want to lock-in this low price.
