SWM Environment launches 'No Dust' initiative in Melaka
General Manager of Corporate Affairs Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said that the initiative aims to enhance cleanliness and visitor comfort at key tourism sites.
The operation involved 20 cleaning personnel supported by two units of water jet machinery.
"The team focused on removing accumulated dust and sand, significantly improving the overall cleanliness of the sites," he said on Tuesday (June 10).
Mohd Norlisam added that the cleaning operation is part of SWM Environment's broader commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards at Melaka's tourist attractions.
"With the state set to host World Tourism Day (WTD) and the World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025 this September, efforts to present a cleaner and more welcoming image of the city have been intensified.
"This operation is not just about cleanliness but about creating a positive and memorable experience for the thousands of tourists expected to visit the historic city later this year," he said.
He added that similar operations are planned for other tourist sites across the state to reinforce Melaka's reputation as one of the cleanest cities in Southeast Asia.
"This initiative is expected to set a new benchmark in sustainable urban cleanliness, showcasing the state's readiness to welcome global delegates and tourists during these upcoming landmark events," he said.

Melaka all set to host World Tourism Day
ALOR GAJAH: Melaka is ready to open its doors in the World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025 celebrations next month. State tourism, heritage, arts and culture committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the programme's content, selection of the main venue and invitations to international delegates are being finalised. Tourism ministers from many countries and members of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation are expected to attend the event here from Sept 27 to 29. 'We are in the final stages of preparation. Everything is going smoothly,' he told reporters after officiating the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat programme for the Rembia state constituency here yesterday, Bernama reported. Also present was constituency coordinator and state science, technology, innovation and digital communications committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan. Abdul Razak said the main venues for the WTD 2025 events have been finalised. The World Tourism Conference will be held at a hotel in Melaka Raya, while the WTD 2025 Gala Dinner and launch of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) will take place at a multi-purpose performance centre in Kota Syahbandar. He said the centre will also showcase cultural and artistic performances in welcoming invited guests and the public. 'The venue is ideal for the WTD 2025 finale and VM2026 launch as it will highlight Melaka's unique appeal and strategic location along the Strait of Malacca to international delegates,' he said.

Melaka prepares to host World Tourism Day 2025 in September
ALOR GAJAH: Melaka is nearly 90% prepared to host World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025 from September 27 to 29. State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman confirmed that programme content, venue selection, and international delegate invitations are almost finalised. 'We are in the final stages, with only 10 to 15% of work remaining. Invitations have been sent to tourism ministers worldwide, and we expect strong attendance,' he said after officiating the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme in Rembia. The main events will take place at a Melaka Raya hotel for the World Tourism Conference and at Kota Syahbandar's multi-purpose performance centre for the WTD 2025 Gala Dinner and Visit Malaysia Year 2026 launch. Abdul Razak highlighted the venue's suitability, stating, 'It will showcase Melaka's cultural diversity and strategic Straits of Melaka location to global delegates.' The centre will also feature performances from all 14 Malaysian states, open to both guests and the public. Separately, he praised the WRUR programme for effectively addressing local issues in seven constituencies, including Rembia. 'Public engagement has been strong, allowing direct interaction between leaders and communities. Many complaints have been resolved, proving its success,' he added. – Bernama
