AI Integration: HONOR offers human-centric devices

HONOR looks set to dominate premium and mid-range smartphones category with the launch of its new flagship device 400 Series in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region in Dubai on May 21, its top official says. Laurence Li, General Manager for HONOR GCC, said latest smart gadget introduces AI-powered features like AI Subtitles, providing real-time speech-to-text conversation for videos or recording. It also includes ground-breaking 200-megapixel (MP) AI camera and AI Creative Editor to ensure strong performance, improved durability and standout design. "HONOR's 400 Series hit the UAE shelves on May 29 with free gifts worth Dh879. The buyers can also book their device from our Online Store, Experience Store and leading retail outlets such as Sharaf DG, Emax, Jumbo, Lulu, Carrefour, Virgin Megastore, Amazon, Eros, KM Trading, Ecity, Etisalat by e&, du, and noon, among others," Li told BTR during a media roundtable at the launch event of the company's new flagship device in the UAE. Laurance, an industry veteran with almost two decades extensive experience in the mobile phone industry, said tech-savvy users can get free gifts up to Dh1,396 with online purchase of HONOR 400 Series smartphones in five different colours — Midnight Black, Meteor Silver, Desert Gold, Lunar Grey and Tidal Blue. "The HONOR 400 will cost Dh1,399 while its pro variant is priced at Dh2,499 with hosts of innovative and creative AI-powered editing tools, empowering users to elevate their visual storytelling experience," he said. Expanding GCC footprint Laurance said HONOR will expand its presence in the Gulf region by opening more outlets in the UAE, Qatar and Oman to cater to rising demand of its innovative smartphones, tablets, and wearables. "We're going to have seven stores in the UAE by year-end including two new outlets in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi. The emirate has a room to have more HONOR stores due to rising demand of its products," he said. "In addition to the UAE, HONOR has expanded its presence in Qatar by inaugurating a new store in Doha earlier this month," he said, adding that the company will open an outlet in Oman very soon. Laurance currently oversees HONOR's operations in the GCC region. Based in Dubai offices he manages multi-country business activities in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and other countries in the region. To a question, he said HONOR is open to explore new markets across the Middle East and Africa as there is a strong demand for premium and mid-range smartphones in the region. 'Opening new stores and coordinating with leading retailers are part of our marketing strategy to strengthen our position in GCC and beyond. It will help not only to showcase our flagship devices at premier locations, but also offers best after-sales service to HONOR's customers,' he said. Strong Q1 data Laurance, who played a pivotal role in establishing HONOR's ecommerce presence from the ground up, significantly contributing to the brand's recognition and growth among overseas consumers, said strong first-quarter sales data indicates a promising future of HONOR's products in the region. "HONOR's business surged around 60% year-on-year basis during the January-March 2025 quarter, thanks to 56% year-on-year increase in the Magic7 Pro sales and 100% revenue growth in Magic V3 smartphones," he said. "Our goal for the HONOR 400 Series is to lead the premium and mid-range category in the GCC region. Based on pre-launch feedback about 400 Series, we expect strong sales in the UAE, Qatar and Oman with significant retail and online traction. 'HONOR has also noticed significant growth in its tablet business, which has increased more than double during the first quarter of 2025,' Laurance said. In reply to a question about the HONOR's outlook about its products across the Gulf region, he said GCC is one of the growing markets for the company. 'We've launched several devices this year including the Magic7 Pro, Magic7 RSR, X9b, and now the HONOR 400 Series. There are many more are in the pipeline, and we're expected to launch several smartphones and foldables in second half of the year, continuing our momentum with flagship and lifestyle models,' he said. Rising market share Laurance proudly claimed leading position in premier and mid-range smartphone segment and said 400 Series flagship devices and new tablets will further strengthen HONOR's position in the region. 'In addition to leading smartphones segment, HONOR is among top three leading global brands for tablets. Our tablet business posts 100% growth every year and it is contributing significantly to increasing market share of the company,' he said. 'We're on track to achieve about 20% market share in the GCC region after establishing HONOR as a trustworthy global tech brand in the past four years. We've achieved 10% market share in 2024 and are confident to hit 15% mark this year as HONOR has become a fastest-growing tech brand in the region,' he said. To a question, Laurance attributed the credit to multibillion investment in research and development (R&D) programme to stay ahead of its competitors worldwide. 'HONOR has allocated $10 billion budget for R&D in next five years to launch innovative and AI-driven gadgets as AI has become a game-changer in almost every field. AI is an integral part of our lives and saves time and resolve issues through human-centric devices in the Gulf region and worldwide,' he said. AI devices in demand Laurance highlighted salient features and advantages of rising AI role in its flagship devices and said the revolutionary tech is going to redefine the tech enthusiasts experience in coming years. 'HONOR has established itself as a leading smartphone manufacturer offering human-centric devices based on advanced generative AI technology. This is just the beginning of introducing AI benefits to tech enthusiasts to make their lives easy and comfortable,' he said. 'We're keen to integrate AI in our smart devises in best possible way. Our 400 Series is packed with best AI features to multiply user experience while using the smart gadgets. Be part of HONOR's global AI strategy and experience 400 series smartphones to experience the difference using a devise with AI or without AI features,' Laurance said while advising tech-savvy consumers across the GCC. 'AI knows you better than you know yourself and it can plan your travel, take care of your health and medical, etc. You can enjoy your life with AI as it is like a new search engine or life planner today,' Laurance concluded.

The agreement includes installing at least eight Porsche high performance charging stations and 125 Porsche Destination Chargers by the end of 2026. Porsche Centre Oman has announced a historic partnership with Shell Oman to enhance the EV infrastructure across the country with a focus on expanding high-performance charging networks on Shell forecourts. Muscat. Porsche Centre Oman, SATA L.L.C., has announced a partnership with Shell Oman Marketing Company (Shell Oman) to significantly increase the roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) chargers across Oman. The agreement will see at least eight co-branded Porsche and Shell DC high performance charging stations installed in the Sultanate. Porsche Centre Oman and Shell Oman will also cooperate to install 125 AC Porsche Destination Chargers at convenient locations, allowing Porsche customers to top up, free-of-charge. 'Today marks a significant step forward in our commitment to a more sustainable future. Through this collaboration with Shell Oman, we are proud to lead the charge – quite literally – in building the infrastructure needed to support electromobility in the Sultanate,' said Samir Abdul Rasool Qassim Al Zadjali, Chief Executive Officer, Porsche Centre Oman. 'By introducing both high-performance and destination chargers, we are not only meeting the evolving needs of our customers but also supporting Oman's broader vision for electromobility and sustainable progress. Porsche Centre Oman customers who purchase their new EV model from 1 June 2025 will receive a two-year subscription package, which includes 2,250 kWh worth of charging at Porsche-branded DC high performance charging sites at no additional cost. Additional charging is then available at a preferential rate thereafter. Customers will also have the possibility to purchase a subscription package separately. The AC Porsche Destination Chargers will remain free of cost for Porsche owners. The collaboration underscores a mutually strong commitment from Porsche Centre Oman and Shell Oman to support Oman's transition to more sustainable mobility, and aligns with the country's long-term sustainability and electrification vision. 'It underscores our commitment to feasible, scalable, and more sustainable consumer-focused solutions, built through strong collaboration with key stakeholders and guided by a clear national roadmap. 'We extend our sincere appreciation to Porsche's authorised importer in Oman, SATA LLC, and to the dedicated teams at Porsche regionally and globally for their instrumental support. 'Together, we are creating a EV ecosystem that empowers motorists with the infrastructure, reliability, and peace of mind they need to make the transition to electric vehicles.' The high performance DC chargers will be integrated into Shell Oman's nationwide service station network, ensuring that EV drivers – particularly Porsche owners – can access convenient and reliable charging solutions both within and beyond urban centres. The first chargers that form part of the collaboration are already installed and available for charging. Shell Oman and Porsche Centre Oman will further explore joint opportunities to support broader EV uptake in Oman through public awareness campaigns and digital integration efforts. This landmark partnership underscores the powerful potential of cross-industry collaboration in shaping a resilient, forward-looking economy – one where sustainability, innovation, and customer experience go hand in hand.

New Honor 400 Pro makes Artificial Intelligence feel natural with seamless excellence

The application of AI is so seamless and the results of it so intuitive on HONOUR's brand new marvel that after testing the HONOUR 400 Pro, we are calling it natural intelligence. HONOUR has recently launched its new 400 Series of phones, comprising two models - the 400 and 400 Pro - and has again proven with this new launch that it isn't without reason that the brand has emerged as one of the most popular and talked about names on the global mobile phone market of late. The brand's success is built on an assembly line of stellar models in the past few years. From the ultra-slim Magic V3 foldable and the advanced Magic 7 Pro to its Porsche Design V2 foldable, the X9C range - and more, HONOUR is a brand that's made it a habit in recent times to consistently exceed the market's expectations with every successive model at almost every price range. And now, in continuation of that habit, HONOUR has sprung the new 400 Series on an unsuspecting world. Out of the two models, the HONOUR 400 Pro is the new marvel, delivering an unparalleled AI photography experience with its extraordinary 200MP AI Camera and versatile AI Creative Editor. But before we extol the virtues of its camera, a brief look at the overall specs reveals a phone that is full of the top, high-end features. Both 400 Series models come with outstanding durability given their IP68 and IP69 water and dust proofing ratings. They are also equipped with a robust 6000mAh battery, which is charged via a 100W HONOUR SuperCharge charger bundled with the 400 Pro. The screen is a cutting-edge 5000nit Ultra Bright Display, which is just what is needed for a phone that is exceedingly good at photography, videography and image editing. The imaging tasks on the HONOUR 400 Pro are handled by a camera that has a three-lens array headlined by the 200MP Ultra-clear AI main camera, equipped with a 1/1.4-inch large sensor, f/1.9 aperture, and OIS + EIS dual image stabilisation. In our tests, the camera system provided an extraordinary photography experience, with an exceptional, groundbreaking clarity, no matter what the light conditions were. Launching the camera app, we got an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, with six modes on tap to start with: Night, Portrait, Photo, Video, Pro and More. Each of these proved to be centres of excellence by themselves, with further controls to customise the image just the way we wanted to get it. For example, in Night mode, the camera took care of the brightness and exposure, while all we needed to adjust was the zoom – and this was done seamlessly with a semi-circular jog dial on the bottom of the screen just above the shutter button. Portrait mode made for great close-ups and headshots, while we found Photo mode to be the go-to for everyday photography of the sort that all phone users regularly do. While Night mode provides a zoom range of 0.6-10X on the jog dial, Portrait mode has five steps of zoom of 1x to 6x. With the versatile photo mode, the zoom range is from 0.6x to 50x, while clear and fast zooming in and out was also possible in video with a range of 0.6-10X. For serious photographers, the Pro mode is a real marvel, giving you as much of the total creative control as you can usually expect only from a high-end DSLR camera. Every creative aspect is at your command - from the ISO setting (50 to 6400), the shutter speed (30 seconds to 1/6400 of a second), aperture, white balance, field of autofocus, and much more. This feature-rich mobile phone makes a great case for ditching your high-end camera with its specs and image quality! And then there is the More tab, which gives you even more control with such settings as slow-motion capture, panorama, time-lapse, night video, and even super macro for impeccable close-ups, among other features. As testers, having used and experienced both several mobile phones and high-end cameras, we felt completely in creative control with the HONOUR 400 Pro, like we had seldom experienced with other devices. And there's much more. Once you are done with shooting an image or video with your own creative impetus and input, you can turn it over to HONOUR's AI Image Engine, which we can only describe as groundbreaking. With this engine, HONOUR has introduced some cutting-edge AI innovations in the 400 Pro, making it the first smartphone to achieve 30x telephoto shooting capability with the main camera. HONOUR's built in AI features also includes the AI Creative Editor, which brings in a host of intelligent features that raised our images to the next level, such as AI Erase passers-by, AI Image to Video and AI Upscale. With AI Erase passers-by, a single tap enabled us to erase unwanted people and crowds from our photos. For example, posing in front of crowded landmarks such as Ain Dubai, you can delete all distractions that come into the frame, allowing for a clean, clutter-free scene. Meanwhile, the AI Image to Video feature, which is co-developed with Google Cloud, is a real breakthrough. It transforms still images into dynamic, high-quality video by leveraging Google's Veo AI model to accurately represent motion with enhanced realism. Supporting video output in MP4 format and Moving Photo in 16:9 or 9:16 ratios, this means that your still images can now be made Instagram ready as a short video. And, best of all, with this feature HONOUR provides free access for two months to the Google gallery from May 15 to August 31, with up to 10 daily uses at no cost. The AI Image to Video feature is actually the biggest and most outstanding AI feature we have yet come across in a mobile phone. As cat lovers, we were able to take snaps of our furry friends in deep slumber and use the AI features to make their tails gently sway and chests rise and fall, making them seem 'alive' in the photo. Selfies can also be brought to life using this feature. Snapping yourself in front of the waterfall inside Dubai Mall, you can show the downward motion of the falling water in the background, making the image bring back the moment spectacularly. Whether shot in landscape or portrait orientation, the tool supports both 16:9 and 9:16 aspect ratios, so final videos can be optimised for social media, stories and reels. Another AI feature, called HD Moving Photo, preserves the golden three seconds of vibrant live moments, allowing users to again effortlessly share or edit cinematic snippets on social platforms. HONOUR takes this further with Moving Photo Collage, a first-of-its-kind feature that allows users to combine 2-9 moving photos to seamlessly stitch live photos into dynamic storytelling moments. And if you have old and damaged images, such as faded portraits, you can bring those cherished memories back to their pristine glory by using the AI Upscale feature, which is a tool that restores them wonderfully by eliminating scratches, enhancing resolution and improving clarity. Available for purchase now in three colourways - Midnight Black, Tidal Blue and Lunar Grey, the colour of our test piece - the HONOUR 400 Pro is priced at Dh2,499 and comes with an on-shelf gift package of Dh879 worth of free goodies, which includes HONOUR's Clip earbuds, Choice smartwatch, and a HONOUR art case for the phone. In the final analysis, AI is the buzzword in our times, but it still has to be executed well. And no one has done that better yet than HONOUR with its brand-new mobile phone - the HONOUR 400 Pro. This is a phone that will wow you with its use of AI, especially in the imaging department, and is the answer to all your photographic and video needs.
