Alexander Volkanovski responds to Aaron Pico: 'I mop the floor with him'
Pico (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) said he's confident that he has the skillset to knock out Volkanovski (27-5 MMA, 14-4 UFC), and that the champion has never faced anyone with his wrestling caliber.
Volkanovski, who's fought the likes of Islam Makhachev, Ilia Topuria, and Max Holloway, is not threatened by Pico's game.
"You've got to think that," Volkanovski responded to Pico in an interview with FOX Sports Australia. "That's perfectly fine. Everyone has a puncher's chance, so he does have big hands. He is an All-American wrestler. But I'll tell you right now, what's the bet if we were to wrestle, I'd embarrass him there anyway? That's the thing. A lot of people want to be like, 'Oh, I did this, I did that.' Like I haven't faced them guys in the gym.
"I've faced really, really good wrestlers even much heavier than him, and trust me, I do all right. MMA grappling is my world. I love that. He's got to have that confidence. I'm not really going to take it serious until he goes and shows me something. You've done stuff in your other promotions and whatnot. Come over here, do it here, all right? Then I'll look into it a little bit more. But yeah, he's only got a puncher's chance. I'll leave it at that."
Pico makes his octagon debut against Lerone Murphy (16-0-1 MMA, 8-0-1 UFC) in Saturday's UFC 319 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) co-main event at United Center in Chicago. Volkanovski thinks the winner could end up being his next title challenger.
"It excites me because I reckon I'd crumble him in the wrestling department," Volkanovski said. "He might be good for one takedown, two takedowns – if he even gets me down, I'm straight back up. Watch him not want to clinch up anymore after that. His best bet is to obviously try and land a big shot. Other than that, I mop the floor with him."

Arman Tsarukyan firmly declares he's better striker than UFC champ Ilia Topuria
Arman Tsarukyan thinks he'd have the advantage over UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria everywhere. Tsarukyan (23-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) hopes he's next in line for Topuria, and has been doing his part to try and build their potential title fight. The 28-year-old was the No. 1 contender to start off the year but withdrew from his fight against Islam Makhachev just a day before UFC 311 in January. He hasn't fought since, but Tsarukyan is confident that he poses the biggest threat to Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) – even in the striking. "Of course I deserve it. I'm No. 1 contender, and they've got to give me this fight because I'm the next UFC champion. It's my belt," Tsarukyan said on the JAXXON Podcast. "He has just has one special thing, and it's boxing. It's not boxing, it's MMA, and even in striking I'm better than him for sure. My kicks, elbows, my knees work always. He does just good boxing, and I can wrestle, as well. So, I just can't wait to show everybody what's my level." Tsarukyan's plan is to ramp up his activity after having not fought since an April 2024 win over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. "I want to defend as much as possible," Tsarukyan said. "I want to be the greatest fighter in the world because I know how I work, how I dedicate for this sport, and I know I've got to be the best in this sport. I love it so much, and I give myself to this sport, and it's got to pay off." If Tsarukyan gets his fight with Topuria and dethrones him, he still has his sights set on Makhachev, who's now a welterweight. "I'll be waiting for him (Makhachev) at 155," Tsarukyan said.

'Chiefs Kingdom' had best Taylor Swift reactions from Travis Kelce teammates
A behind-the-scenes look at the Kansas City Chiefs premiered this week with the first episode of the ESPN docuseries "Chiefs Kingdom" debuting on Thursday. The six-episode series is centered around last season's Super Bowl run by the Chiefs, with a focus on the team's history and head coach Andy Reid. But recent Chiefs content also means we get more insight into tight end Travis Kelce and his then-new relationship with pop star Taylor Swift. The 14-time Grammy winner started dating Kelce in the summer of 2023, with the singer attending several home and some away games for Kansas City over the last two seasons. Swift, who just broke the internet with her 2-hour podcast with Kelce and his brother Jason on New Heights this week, garnered attention when she went to her first Chiefs game in September of 2023. Interviews with defensive tackle Chris Jones and quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the series discussed exactly that moment that they realized Kelce did, in fact, get Swift to come to a game. "Taylor Swift's here? For real? With Travis? Oh my god!" Jones said during an interview in the episode. "We were like, 'Oh my god, Travis pulled Taylor Swift!'" You can watch all six episodes of "Chiefs Kingdom" now on the ESPN app through ESPN+.
