Austin Reaves talks about his experience this season with Lakers

Yahoo13-05-2025

For the third year in a row, Austin Reaves elevated his production and overall game for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. While his shooting efficiency was up and down throughout the season, he raised his scoring average from 15.9 points a game the previous year to 20.2 points a game, and he also posted 5.8 assists a game.
The Feb. 1 acquisition of Luka Doncic made life easier for Reaves, as it meant he didn't have to work hard to create offense off the dribble as much. As a result, his shooting efficiency increased shortly after the trade, and he put up 24.9 points on 52.4% overall shooting and 42.4% from 3-point range in his last 17 regular-season games.

Reaves didn't play well in the Lakers' five-game loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs. But he seems to have a positive outlook on how the season went.
Via Lakers Nation:
'I had a lot of fun,' Reaves said in his exit interview. 'Forget the basketball, I enjoyed every single day going to work and being around these guys, the coaching staff, training staff, weight staff, everybody in the organization. From game one to game 82 and now, I just had a lot of fun. I always speak about how growing up playing with your best friends in high school, sometimes nothing will ever top that because you've been able to play high school basketball with guys you grew up with your whole life.
'But this is right up there with all of that. I really enjoyed it and like I said, I had fun regardless of statistics or anything. I enjoyed going to work every single day and putting in the work and going to battle with these guys.'
There is a growing feeling among some people that the Lakers may have to trade Reaves in order to become a true championship contender. But Jovan Buha of The Athletic said recently that the chances of him being traded this summer are low.
As long as he remains with the team, his ability to assume some of the ball-handling, facilitating and scoring duties should help it in its efforts to win an 18th NBA championship while also keeping LeBron James' workload at a reasonable level.

NBA rumors: Heat, Rockets, Spurs named Kevin Durant's ‘preferred' trade destinations

The post NBA rumors: Heat, Rockets, Spurs named Kevin Durant's 'preferred' trade destinations appeared first on ClutchPoints. Kevin Durant has been active on the trade rumor mill as the Phoenix Suns look to retool their roster moving forward. According to ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania, they might have their avenues. Advertisement Charania reported on Saturday that Durant's list of teams he prefers to go to include the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. 'The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant's preferred trade destinations out of Phoenix, sources tell ESPN. Those across the NBA have been made aware in recent days that those are the three teams that Durant would commit to long-term,' Charania wrote. 'Durant is on an expiring $54.7 million deal for 2025-26, and the Suns have made clear to six-to-eight seriously interested teams that they will make the best deal for the franchise – even outside of his preferred list of Miami, San Antonio and Houston.' What lies ahead for Kevin Durant, Suns this offseason © Dan Hamilton-Imagn Images Kevin Durant has represented the Suns since the middle of the 2022-23 season, taking them to the playoffs twice. However, their 2024-25 campaign ended in disappointment as they failed to make the postseason with a 36-46 record. Advertisement Throughout his time with the Suns, he averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game after 145 total appearances. He had shooting splits of 52.7% from the field, including 42.7% from beyond the arc, and 84.7% from the free-throw line. Durant has shown he can still play at an elite level at age 36. However, the Suns' inability to improve their depth to surround Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal have resulted in underwhelming endings for the franchise. The Heat would benefit from adding Durant on offense, having a top scorer to address their offensive struggles. San Antonio would raise their ceiling as they would form a star trio of Durant, Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox. As for the Rockets, they would have a dependable scorer to elevate their offense. They especially struggled in that area during their first-round series loss to the Golden State Warriors. There are many roads that the Suns can take to address their roster needs this offseason. It may end up with them moving on from one of the best scorers in NBA history. However, it's a decision they might have to make to start a new era of Phoenix basketball.

Just In: Houston Rockets center Steven Adams has agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract extension to stay with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. NBA rumors: Teams ‘preparing for' Oklahoma City Thunder to make big move in 2025 NBA Draft

The Oklahoma City Thunder are attempting to turn their core into a championship, while a majority of the league is focused on final preparation before the 2025 NBA Draft. While the NBA Finals is Oklahoma City's focus for now, teams do think the Thunder might have something up their sleeve on draft night. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, teams picking inside the lottery of the 2025 NBA Draft are 'preparing for' the Thunder of moving up into the lottery. While no specific targets were named, the Houston Rockets (10th overall pick) are open to moving the selection and teams like the Brooklyn Nets (8th overall pick) Portland Trail Blazers (11th overall pick) could be targeted. One incentive for trading up for the Thunder could be the desire to land NBA-ready talent this offseason on rookie contracts. With Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren due to receive contract extensions, Oklahoma City needs to start consolidating its picks to find the best young talent on cheap talent that it can. If the Thunder were to move up into the top 12 picks, it could put them in a position to land someone like Duke Blue Devils center Khaman Maluach or French point guard Nolan Traore.
