Couple shocked to find scary note hidden in new home: ‘What the f–k is that?'

New York Post28-04-2025

This couple's story sounds like the plot of a paranormal horror film.
A woman named Anita Rainier and her husband, who moved into a new home a few months ago, discovered a creepy note warning them about something inside.
According to Newsweek, the duo moved right outside of Seattle, Washington. One night, when the couple was in their kitchen, chatting about house renovations they wanted to make, they suddenly found an eerie handwritten note in one of their cabinets.
'My husband and I were just chatting in the kitchen, deciding how we should set up one particular display cabinet,' Rainier said to the outlet. 'I got down at an angle and suddenly let out a cry of 'what the f*** is that?''

'It was this really well-hidden bit of paper tightly tucked into the top of the cabinet, totally out of sight unless you got all the way down like I was looking up,' she explained.
The folded-up note read, 'Don't look under the floor.'
When Rainier turned over the note, it had a series of random numbers: 29065300489382.

While most people probably wouldn't be able to sleep after discovering that spooky message, the couple surprisingly found it funny.
'It was both hilarious and kind of exciting to think there might be some hidden mystery here,' she said.
Curiosity got the best of them, but when the homeowners searched the numbers online — they were unsuccessful.
'We were expecting it to be some number relating to at least something, like a part number the prior owner scribbled down, at least some kind of hit. But with nothing,' they told the outlet.
They didn't give up there — the couple took on the challenge as if they were playing a game of Clue.
'We divided it by our unit number, ZIP code, year the building was built, etc., to see if we could get a whole number or phone number or something. No luck!' Rainier said.
Their last resort was posting it to Reddit to see if any helpful commenters could help them solve this bizarre mystery.
A few people commented on the post, insisting the code on the back was a 'library card number. Probably the name of a book.'
'Imagine you tear up the floorboard and find another note that just says, 'Made ya look,'' a person joked.

Brooke Shields describing on a podcast how she interrupted Meghan Markle's famous childhood story has been mysteriously deleted. Shields was a guest on An Unexpected Journey, a podcast by India Hicks, King Charles III's goddaughter. The episode, released on May 31 and titled "Brooke Shields is sixty, sexy and just getting started," has since disappeared off Hicks' website. Newsweek contacted Hicks for comment via email. "She starts telling a story about how when she was 11," Shields told Hicks, according to The Independent, "and she keeps saying, 'Well, when I was 11, I saw this commercial and they were talking about how washing dishes was for women. "And she said, 'I didn't think only women wash dishes. It wasn't fair. So I wrote to the company.'" "She kept saying she was 11," Shields continued. "She wrote to the company, they changed the text; they changed the commercial. "It was just too precious, and I was like, they're not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious." Errin Haines, Meghan Markle, Katie Couric, Brooke Shields and Nancy Wang Yuen made up the panel at SXSW Conference and Festival, at Austin Convention Center, Texas, on March 8, Shields said she interrupted Meghan to liven up the panel discussion: "I go, 'Excuse me, I'm so sorry, I've got to interrupt you there for one minute.' I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious." And she told the audience: "I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we're different. When I was 11, I was playing a prostitute." The reference was to Pretty Baby, a 1978 movie about a 12-year-old girl raised in a New Orleans brothel by her mother, who is a sex worker. Hicks said her interjection went down well with the crowd: "The place went insane." Meghan Markle's Ivory Clear Dish Soap Story When Meghan was 11 she wrote to Procter & Gamble to ask for a change to the wording of an ad, in which the voice over said: "The gloves are coming off. Women are fighting greasy pots and pans with Ivory Clear." In 2022, Meghan said in her podcast Archetypes: "I was furious. Women? Did I really just hear that guy say 'women?' As in only women? Only women." The story has been around since the early days of Meghan and Harry's relationship, since before their 2018 wedding, and some have started to question whether she may have told it too many times. After Meghan repeated it on Archetypes, the Daily Mail ran the headline: "'I was ready to turn off when I heard the soap ad story YET AGAIN': Meghan Markle listeners 'yawn' as she wheels out well-worn anecdote about campaigning against sexist soap advert when she was eleven for podcast." Nintendo Switch 2 Breaks Records with Historic Launch Sales

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The Nintendo Switch 2 isn't even a week old yet, but it's already breaking records and putting in the numbers, coming out on top for not just Nintendo, but for video games as a whole. In a news release on the Nintendo IR website featuring the first sales announcement since the console was released last week, Nintendo revealed that the Switch 2 sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days on sale. According to the company, this is the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever, outpacing the Switch, the Wii, and even the Nintendo DS. Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in handheld, docked, and tabletop modes. Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in handheld, docked, and tabletop modes. Nintendo It goes further, though, because according to Niko Partners director of research and insights Daniel Ahmad, it's also the fastest-selling home video console of all time. As noted by Ahmad, the PlayStation 4 sold 2.1 million units in two weeks, and 4.2 million units in six weeks, while the PS5 sold 4.4 million units in seven weeks. If the Switch 2 continues on pace, it should handily top the PS4 and PS5's first-month sales. This makes it not just the best selling Nintendo console in the first 4 days, but the fastest selling home video game console of all time. — Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) June 11, 2025 It's no surprise that the Switch 2 is performing well, given the massive success of the original Switch. When Nintendo last reported sales numbers, the Nintendo Switch had sold 152.12 million units over its life, just barely behind the Nintendo DS at 154.02 million units and within distance of the PlayStation 2, which sold over 160 million units before being discontinued. We thought very highly of the hybrid console, as detailed in our Nintendo Switch 2 review, where we praised it for its build quality, performance, and the improvement to original Switch games, calling it "everything you'd want in a successor and more":

Golden Retriever Puppy Sees Dad After First Day at Daycare, Goes Viral

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A golden retriever puppy named Bauer has captured hearts across the internet with his emotional reunion with his owner after the first day at daycare. In a viral TikTok video shared on Wednesday under the username @imbluethesiberiann, the puppy is filmed sprinting toward his dad as soon as he spots him from behind the door, leaping into his arms and showering him with kisses. "Picking up my puppy from his first time at daycare," reads layover text in the clip, as the puppy goes on to grab his own leash and drag himself around. "The way he carries his leash like 'I'm ready let's go home!' He had literally the best time and was the best boy," the caption says. "He was thrilled to see his dad and was running around with his leash in his mouth like he was ready to go home," he said. But this doesn't mean that he didn't enjoy his time at daycare, on the contrary, he loved it, according to his dad. "He had an amazing time [at daycare], the staff said he was the life of the party and made so many new friends, he can't wait to go back!" Moriarty added. With over 80 million pet dogs and 60 million pet cats living across America, pet care is a booming industry. There are currently over 20,000 pet care facilities throughout the country. The global pet boarding market is estimated to be worth approximately $20 billion, and projected to grow to $36 billion by 2031. In America, doggy daycare costs an average of $35 per day, while dog boarding services cost an average of $40 per night. The video quickly went viral on TikTok and it has so far received over 679,900 views and 84,300 likes on the platform. One user, Ssjp1107, commented: "This. This right here is why I can never understand how people can be cruel to animals. The unconditional love is amazing." Sandraclouthier53 said: "Anyone that says your pets are not your children... show them this video!! That baby is so excited to see you!" Catherine Haines added: "Awwww when your outside having a cuddle he looks like a baby polar bear with them feet." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
