Beyond religion: Dr. Nermin Houti explores the universal humanistic power of the Husseini theater
Houti argues for the universal theatrical potential of the Husseini narrative.
The author opens with a discussion of the importance of symbolism in literature and theater, and its immense power to evoke emotion and create a lasting impact.
According to the paper, the Husseini narrative, due to its profound humanistic themes, is presented as possessing a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries,
The author asserts that this narrative is one ripe for theatrical adaptation, drawing parallels with Aristotelian concepts of tragedy, imitation, and catharsis.
The Husseini story, though seemingly impossible, becomes a 'possible impossibility' suitable for dramatic representation.
Houti advocates for a dedicated Husseini theater that embraces a broad humanistic identity, moving beyond purely religious contexts to explore the narrative's deeper cultural and existential meanings through aesthetic and cognitive reinterpretation.
She believes this approach will allow the Husseini story to achieve its intended global reach.
The author articulates her rationale for selecting this particular subject and its significance saying, 'In the realm of theater, despite the numerous texts that have attempted to depict the revolution of Imam Hussein (AS) and portray this revered figure, we have yet to find works that truly establish the unique characteristics of Husseini theater.'
Houti holds a PhD in Philosophy of Literary Criticism and is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts.
She is a member of the Association of Writers and the Journalists Association, and is also part of the literary arbitration committees on theater or poetry in Kuwait and other Arab countries.
She has authored numerous newspapers and magazines articles and several books on significant theatrical works examining women's issues, the latest of which is 'The Women in Ismail Abdullah's Theater'.
Houti has been chosen as a panelist in various significant cultural events and has participated in multiple seminars across the Arab region.

MCE Condemns Israeli Plan for 3,400 New Settlement Units
Mohamed Mandour The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by Egypt's Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, on Friday strongly condemned Israel's approval to build 3,400 new settlement units near the West Bank and Jerusalem, saying the move targets the territorial integrity of a future Palestinian state. In a statement, the council described the decision, approved by Israel's finance minister, as 'a flagrant violation of international law' and 'a serious undermining of peace efforts.' It urged the international community to act swiftly to halt the expansion and to uphold the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The council said such settlement activity 'constitutes a provocative practice' that deepens tensions and threatens regional stability, calling on world leaders to take a clear stand against what it views as ongoing violations of Palestinian rights. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
