Man (22) ‘from Northern Ireland' arrested in major drugs bust in Mexico
The three men were suspected of being involved in making deliveries set up through WhatsApp
According to media reports in Mexico, three men were arrested on Thursday night after their car was stopped and a quantity of drugs, cash and guns were recovered during an arrest in the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City.
One of the men is identified as being Jackson Alan Patrick (22) who was travelling with what the reports described as a 'Northern Ireland passport'.
A video showing the three men in handcuffs was posted on the official X social media page belonging to the Pablo Vázquez Camacho, the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City.
He tweeted: 'As a result of investigative and intelligence work to combat high-impact crimes, colleagues from @SSC_CDMX arrested three men in @AlcaldiaMHmx in possession of approximately 2 kilograms of suspected drugs, a handgun, live ammunition, and a high-end vehicle without license plates.
'The detainees are allegedly linked to drug sales and distribution in the municipalities of #MiguelHidalgo, @TuAlcaldiaGAM, as well as in the municipality of #Huixquilucan, in the State of Mexico.' Read more
And he concluded his post by saying. 'We continue working to identify and arrest those who commit crimes, bring them to justice, and continue building a safer, more just, and peaceful city.'
Further media reports claimed the three men were suspected of being involved in making deliveries set up through WhatsApp in different neighbourhoods of the Miguel Hidalgo area of the capital city.
The reports say the men were also pictured posing on social media networks with short and long firearms and showing videos of packages and bricks of drugs.
The other two gang suspects were named as 44-year-old Hugo Enrique and 34-year-old Leopoldo Alonso.

One media report in El Heraldo de Mexico stated, 'This as a result of investigation and follow-up work to identify and arrest generators of violence in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office, members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City arrested the three men, one of them a British citizen, in possession of a firearm, eight useful cartridges and a package with apparent marijuana.
It went on to say the group were, 'Possibly related to the sale and distribution of narcotics in that demarcation, in Gustavo A. Madero, and in the municipality of Huixquilucan, in the State of Mexico.
'Through intelligence work, it was learned that a group of individuals, through messages sent via an instant messaging app, were offering to sell alleged drugs for delivery in different neighbourhoods of the Miguel Hidalgo borough. They were also posing with handguns, rifles, and live ammunition.

'As a result, officers increased patrols and patrols in the area. While driving along Ejército Nacional Avenue in the Irrigación neighbourhood, they observed a high-end red vehicle without license plates, the occupants of which were carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
'Quickly, to rule out a possible criminal act, the officers stopped them and requested a preventive search, in accordance with police protocol. Afterward, they found a handgun, eight live ammunition, a brick-shaped package made of duct tape containing approximately two kilograms of apparent marijuana, two cell phones, and cash.
'As a result, the men, aged 34, 44, and 22—the latter identifying himself as a British citizen—were detained, informed of their legal rights, and, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the relevant Public Prosecutor's Office, who will determine their legal status.'
There were no further details of the man who it is claimed comes from Northern Ireland.

Venice gangs using young children to steal from tourists
But criminal gangs are cleverly exploiting a legal loophole and recruiting thieves as young as 12 or 13. Those under the age of 14 escape criminal prosecution. Police chiefs say gangs have turned away from using pregnant women – who can be prosecuted – and instead turned their attention on children. But even when the youngsters are caught and sent to a community centre for the night, they escape within hours, according to Marco Agosti, the commander of the Venice local police. Many of the pickpockets are known to police. Frustrated local activists catch them tailing their victims and later post their images on social media, as well as their names or nicknames such as 'Shakira', 'Mika' or 'Dodu'. 'I didn't feel a thing, they were invisible,' said one 50-year old British victim, who did not want to be named. She was targeted during the city's annual Carnevale festivities in February. 'I didn't realise my wallet was gone until I arrived at the railway station.' Local and national Carabinieri police say they have apprehended more than 150 alleged thieves since the beginning of the year and filled 15 large bags of stolen bags and empty wallets at the town hall. Another founding member of the anti-immigrant group – which claims to have 'over 1,000' members – and a fellow failed election candidate, threatened to 'storm' the Dáil this week in a series of social media posts. Last week, revealed how a Muslim man was hospitalised with a broken jaw after convicted killer McNamara, who is involved in the far-right 'community watchdog' group, wrongly accused him of inappropriately approaching children in a park. The footage, which went viral on social media before it was labelled 'misinformation' by gardaí, was filmed by McNamara and posted to his TikTok account. McNamara has also addressed his criminal past in a video he posted to his TikTok account. In the video, he claimed he had no idea why people are commenting under his posts that he was a murderer and that he didn't want to have to 'lower himself' by explaining to people what actually happened. He said: 'Who never had a drink with someone, got in a row and hit him in the head?' He added: 'He died three days later. I got charged with manslaughter. He's my dad. I love him. I miss him.' He also doubled down on the video he posted about the man in the park, saying there is 'evidence' of 'this Muslim foreign fella' approaching children – but without providing any proof or evidence to back up his claim. Sinne na Daoine publicised their first and second 'patrols' in Limerick city and Clonmel, in Co. Tipperary, on social media earlier in the year. They have also listed the names of companies or people they label 'plantation enablers' on their website. Meanwhile, Martin Murphy previously attempted to downplay his threatening posts when contacted by us. He said the tweets were posted before he declared his intention to run in the local election and described them as 'gallows humour'.
