Son of golfing gun win first top junior-circuit title
The 16-year-old finished with a three-round score of 15-under 201 at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida on Wednesday in winning his first American Junior Golf Association event at the Streamsong Resort Black Course.
The AJGA is the nation's premier junior circuit.
Woods began the day tied at nine-under 135 and finished with a final round of six-under 66 to top a 71-player field that included four of the top-five ranked AJGA's players.
His final round featured eight birdies and two bogeys, and he closed with four straight pars. He won the event by three strokes ahead of a three-way tie between fifth-ranked player Luke Colton, Willie Gordon and Phillip Dunham.
Woods is projected to vault up the AJGA rankings in significant fashion, going from No.606 entering the week to No.14, per DRVN.golf.
Woods opened the tournament with a first round score of 70 and followed with a 65 on Tuesday. He was competing in just his fifth AJGA event, with his previous best finish a tie for 25th at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March.
The son of 15-time major winner Tiger Woods already counted several wins on his resume, with his first coming in the 14-15-year-old category at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Major Championship in June 2023. Later that year, he won the Last Chance Regional golf tournament.
Last summer, he qualified to compete at the US Junior Amateur but failed to make the cut.

Adam Scott and Tiger Woods have been handed the keys to creating the best PGA Tour possible by new CEO
Adam Scott has been added to a 'future competition committee' to be chaired by Tiger Woods and tasked with building the 'best professional golf model' ever by new PGA Tour boss Brian Rolapp. But that model doesn't yet include any reunification with LIV as talks again stall, with players including individual LIV champion Jon Rahm and Ryder Cup star Bryson DeChambeau set to again ply their trade on the rival tour in 2026. Masters champion Scott, who missed the season-ending PGA Tour playoffs this year, has taken on a leadership role during the protracted standoff between the two tours that had come closer together this year. Scott, as chairman of the PGA Tour's Player Advisory Council, and Woods even met with US President Donald Trump at the White House in a bid to bring the parties to some sort of agreement to ensure the world's best players played together more often. At the Tour Championship, Rolapp, who was appointed in June, outlined his desire for that to happen without being able to give any update on talks with LIV, which has released a full schedule of events for 2026, including a return to Australia. LIV has also struck a deal to play in Adelaide until 2031 on a purpose-built course just outside the CBD, with that deal dependent on the future landscape. But Rolapp revealed one of his new endeavours, having started with a 'clean sheet of paper', was the formation of the new committee, which will feature Scott and Woods and aim for 'significant change' in the operation of the PGA Tour. 'We're going to focus on the evolution of our competitive model and the corresponding media products and sponsorship elements and model of the entire sport,' Rolapp said. 'The goal is not incremental change. The goal is significant change. 'Tiger Woods has agreed to serve as chairman. The PGA Tour is certainly fortunate to benefit from his experience and his time and his dedication. That will be important to this effort, and I'm personally grateful for Tiger for offering to take this on.' Scott will be joined on the committee by fellow players Patrick Cantlay, Camilo Villegas, Maverick McNealy and Keith Mitchell along with some business experts. 'The committee makeup was deliberate and thought through,' Rolapp said. 'Clearly, it's player led. The player input to this is extremely important. 'We're certainly focused on the future. We're excited about the future and excited about the opportunity ahead.' But Rolapp couldn't expand on where discussions with LIV sat in that future outlook. 'I think I'm going to focus on what I can control,' he said. 'I would offer to you that the best collection of golfers in the world are on the PGA Tour. I think there's a bunch of metrics that demonstrate that, from rankings to viewership to whatever you want to pick. I'm going to lean into that and strengthen that.'
