Queenslanders to brave the cold over the weekend as frost remains following coldest June morning in Brisbane in 16 years
A run of freezing conditions for Queensland is set to continue into the weekend, with Brisbane having recorded its coldest June morning in 16 years.
Brisbane hit five degrees on Friday morning, its lowest morning temperature in June since 2009.
Temperatures dropped into the negative further west, with Ipswich suburb Amberley recording a low of -1.6 degrees while Oakey in Toowoomba fell to -5.1 degrees.
Sky News Australia's Kaiser Shields said there is a chance of frost in southern Queensland until Monday with warmer and humid weather conditions to move into the state next week.
Wet weather conditions are set to affect three states on Saturday, with South Australia, Western Australia and New South Wales all on the verge of receiving showers at the start of the weekend.
Drought-affected SA will be welcoming the sight of some rainfall after enduring the driest start to the year on record in its agricultural regions, but the volume of rain won't be enough to quell concerns for farmers.
Two cold fronts will cross the state in the next three days, bringing modest falls between five and 25 millimetres.
Western Australia is in for a wet week, starting on Saturday with showers to develop "as a series of cold fronts moves across the region", Sky News Australia meterologist Marina Neuman said.
"Only day for dry conditions will be Monday, unfortunately, very wet weather over the rest of the week," she added.
In Perth temperatures will hit as high as 20 and as low as six degrees, with the chance of morning fog.
On Saturday, Brisbane is predicted to hit a high of 21 degrees with dry conditions during the day but a chilly seven degrees overnight.
There is the chance of isolated coastal showers for Sydney with a high of just 17 degrees during the day while showers will potentially move out on Saturday evening.
"We do have the chance for showers both Saturday as well as Sunday for Sydneysiders. (But) that will be mostly focused along the coastline," Neuman said.
The western half of Victoria could see some showers over the weekend, while the capital city Melbourne remains dry for Saturday.
Conditions in Darwin are set to be dry and sunny for the weekend and the week ahead, hitting highs in excess of 30 degrees and barely dropping lower than 20 degrees.
Tasmania is bracing for a cold weekend, with Hobart forecast to record temperatures as low as four degrees over both Saturday and Sunday, while they're unlikely to reach higher than 15 degrees.

Series of cold fronts targeting country's southern coastline over next three days as Queensland expected to shiver
A series of cold fronts is set to sweep through multiple southern states bringing much needed rain for drought-affected farmers while Queensland is expected to shiver on Friday. On Friday Western Australia will receive some showers as a cold front moves across the nation's south over the course of the weekend, giving much-needed rain for drought-affected farmers. Sky News Meteorologist Marina Neuman said Perth should expect a few showers on Friday until a cold front moves through targeting Australia's south. "Still dry conditions now, just a few very light, spotty showers targeting Perth, but the better chance tomorrow as that cold front begins to move in... this is just going to be the precursor to the better chance for rain fall heading into the weekend," she said. Rain looks to fall over dry areas in South Australia and parts of western Victoria, however Neuman said it will unfortunately be low rain totals. A series of fronts look to move across the southern coastline sweeping through Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and parts of Tasmania. The Bureau of Meteorology said the cold front will push through South Australia with a burst of showers sweeping through western Victoria, before it weakens on Sunday. "The cold front will push across the Bight during Friday evening, and reach South Australia during Saturday with a burst of showers. Showers are forecast for Adelaide, the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, and southern agricultural areas," the BOM said. "Showers will reach western Victoria on Saturday night, but gradually weaken into Sunday as the cold front moves southwards." The best chance of rain will be for SA's coast bringing upwards of at least 10mm of showers across Saturday and Sunday. Over the next seven days the southern half of WA could expect 30mm, 50mm across Tasmania, 25mm for South Australia, and the northern tropics could receive 50mm. 'So, this is once again, very nice rainfall totals, especially for those agricultural parts of South Australia as we deal with ongoing drought conditions there,' Neuman said. Meanwhile, another round of frost is on the way for Queenslanders as the state shivers into the weekend. It is set to be another cold morning for the Sunshine State on Friday with minimum temperatures expected to hit Roma with -1, Longreach 2C, Toowoomba and Mount Isa 3C. 'For now, another chilly night for the coastline, Rockhampton expected to see six degrees overnight, Bundaberg at six degrees as well, even Brisbane, eight degrees, I know that's very uncomfortable for everybody, but Queenslanders especially,' Neuman said. 'So, another chilly evening and likely some frost for your Friday morning.' This week Queensland faced some unfamiliar conditions with the coldest night of the year to date recorded. On Wednesday morning a minimum of -4.4C hit the small rural town of Injune, while the mercury fell to -3.6C at Kingaroy, reaching the same low as Roma on Tuesday morning.
