Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron receives 2025 All-American honors The 2025 postseason honors continued to roll in for Alabama Crimson Tide shortstop Justin Lebron earlier this past week, as he was named a Third Team All-American by Perfect Game. A selection at the shortstop position, the players who received First and Second Team honors ahead of the Alabama star were UCLA's Ross Cholowsky, Perfect Game's Player of the Year, as well as Wake Forest's Marek Houston. Starting all 59 games for Alabama at shortstop, Lebron slashed .316/.421/.636 for the Crimson Tide during the 2025 season with 18 home runs and a team-leading 72 RBI. Lebron was also one of Alabama's top base stealers this past season, swiping 17 bags. Other accolades for Lebron's sophomore season at Alabama included Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team. The Alabama shortstop was also a semifinalist for the 2025 Golden Spikes Award. Myles Garrett talks contract, Shedeur Sanders, QBs and more
BEREA — Myles Garrett was exactly where everyone thought he would be for the first day of the Browns' mandatory minicamp. The All-Pro defensive end was on the field with the rest of his teammates. Garrett had not been present for the two OTA practices that were open on May 28 and June 4. Those OTAs, however, were voluntary affairs, and he had been present at other points during the offseason program. Advertisement The first day of minicamp, though, was the first time Garrett had spoken since mid-March. That was when he signed his new four-year, $160 million contract extension, which came at the end of a month-long standoff over a trade demand. Here's a quick look at some of the things Garrett said after the first minicamp practice: Myles Garrett on Browns owner Jimmy Haslam's expectation for more leadership "I don't feel any ways by him saying it," Garrett said. "That's his expectation. It's been his expectation from the beginning. And I think losing a leader like Nick as well, it definitely puts more of an expectation on to gain more leadership in other areas. And he pointed at me and put the red dot on me, and that's fine. I'll continue to grow as a leader and as a player, which I expect to every year and do what I can. He gave me that power and I got to be responsible for it." Myles Garrett on Jim Schwartz's 'with great power comes great responsibility' comment 'With great power comes great responsibility? So that would make him my Uncle Ben, right?," Garrett said. "I mean I look forward to having my best season for sure and I think it's trending that way. It's been really good and I think everything's pulling in that direction and I like where we are as a defensive unit. It's really firing, really rolling and I think it's really clicking as far as the scheme and the plays, especially early on. That's big.' Well, that's what mini camp training camp is for," Garrett said. "We assess it every single day, seeing our guys attack the practice field, how they come in and prepare from day to day. And if they don't get it, you make 'em get it. Like I said, being that leader, setting that standard and showing guys how it's done instead of expecting 'em to know it. Guys come from different places, come from college and you got to push 'em in the right direction. You got to guide 'em." His eyes got pretty big when I got free and I was face up on 'em. But all of them look pretty calm, just going through their checks, going through their calls, making the plays they need to make, not doing too much right now and they'll have time to continue to display their talents and it's just one day at a time. Continue to earn the trust of your coaches and your teammates and I think they'll be able to open up the game." It crushed us to see him get injured, had to battle through and then it happened again. So we want the very best for him, happy to see him, still able to play, still able to do his thing, wanted to see him go back to being the player that he was and have a smile on his face, continue to fall out." 2026 4-star QB and Texas A&M commit invited to Rivals Five-star event Texas A&M's quarterback future, like that of most major programs, is cyclical due to the transfer portal. However, under coach Mike Elko, the Aggies will return 70% of the 2024 offense this coming season, led by starting quarterback Marcel Reed. Still, Reed is entering a "make or break" season that will affect his future as the starter. In Texas A&M's 2026 signing class, Elko and OC Collin Klein landed one of the top arms in the cycle out of Utah, as four-star QB Helaman Casuga likely represents the Aggies' starting quarterback for the future, especially after 2025 five-star wide receiver signee Jerome Myles was his No. 1 receiving target at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. Casuga's elite accuracy and tough overtakes any concerns about his 6'1" frame, which is usually the cut off for most successful quarterbacks at the next level. While I could sing his praises throughout this article, Casuga has reportedly been invited to the prestigious Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, Indiana, which features 100 of the top-ranked prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, set to take place on June 23-24. Casuga has been on the rise ever since his productive freshman and sophomore seasons, during which he showcased his arm talent, passing for 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns, before missing the latter half of his 2024 junior season. Casuga's play-making ability is a perfect fit in current Texas A&M OC Collin Klein's scheme, and if Marcel Reed improves in the pocket this coming season, expect a balanced attack that could lead the SEC in scoring and provide momentum for the future. According to Rivals, Casuga is currently positioned as the 104th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 11th-ranked quarterback, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Utah.
