New anime movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is continuing to break box office records as it continues to be Japan's number one movie for the third week in a row.
In fact, the movie, officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsi no Yaiba Infinity Castle, has entered the list of the 'Top 10 All-Time Box Office Films in Japan' as found by Crunchyroll. With 17.63 yen grossed so far, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle sits at number 10, right behind Howl's Moving Castle with 19.6 billion yen, becoming the seventh top-grossing Japanese animated film to date.
The new movie is certainly following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which currently tops the list. However, Infinity Castle may even beat Mugen Train. The new movie was only released in Japan on July 18 and has already struck up over 17 billion yen in just over two weeks. That's 112% more than Mugen Train earned at the same stage.
Released in 2020, Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train earned a whopping 40.75 billion yen domestically (over $275 million) throughout its theatrical run, beating out Spirited Away and James Cameron's Titanic. But, it wouldn't be too big of a surprise if Mugen Train was replaced, as Infinity Castle has already broken the record for the fastest Japanese film to reach the 10 billion mark.
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the movie follows Tanjiro Kamado, who turns to a life of demon hunting with the Demon Slayer Corps after his sister was turned into one of the monsters. However, in Infinity Castle, Tanjiro faces his biggest challenge yet as he is plunged into a demon's stronghold known as the Infinity Castle in a bid to save the head of the Corps.
The movie is the first of an upcoming trilogy based on the Infinity Castle arc from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is a sequel to the fourth season of the Demon Slayer anime series.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will hit US and UK cinemas on September 12, 2025. For more, check out the best anime you should be watching right now, and keep up to date with new anime heading your way.

For Warner Bros., Original Horror Has Scared Up Some of 2025's Best Box Office Bets

We hope there's not the same level of hand-wringing and asterisks thrown around about Zach Cregger's 'Weapons' as there was for Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners,' because a stellar No. 1 opening for 'Weapons' now gives Warner Bros. two original horror movies that each opened No. 1 at the box office in 2025. 'Weapons' brought in $71.8 million globally, including $43.5 million domestic, according to Monday's final totals, easily landing it the top spot ahead of 'Freakier Friday' and holdovers like 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps.' Warner Bros. ('Weapons' is a New Line Cinema title) now has had seven films this year that have opened No. 1, including 'Mickey 17,' 'A Minecraft Movie,' 'Final Destinations: Bloodlines,' 'Superman,' and 'F1: The Movie' (which WB released with Apple). New Line also released January's 'Companion,' another original horror film also produced by Cregger, and that film made $36.7 million worldwide. More from IndieWire You Hate AI. They Teach It Anyway. Spike Lee's 'Highest 2 Lowest' Reinvents Kurosawa in the Canyons and Subways of New York While franchise horror films have had their moment this year too, including '28 Years Later,' 'Final Destination,' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' other dips back into the IP well have struggled, including 'M3GAN 2.0,' 'Until Dawn,' and 'Wolf Man.' Blumhouse's slate for the remainder of 2025 also includes several sequels to past hits. The success of 'Weapons' is more ammunition for anyone beating the drum that Hollywood needs to take more risks. And 'Weapons,' though not on the budget level of 'Sinners,' had its own risks. Not only is it a cryptic, genre-bending original with a not-so-veiled message about grief and trauma in the aftermath of school shootings, Cregger's film carries a $38 million production budget, a number at which New Line reportedly won a bidding war over Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw banner. That's an aggressive number for an emerging filmmaker. His prior film was the sleeper hit 'Barbarian,' which wound up grossing $40.8 million domestic and $45.3 million total. 'Weapons' has already trounced that, and the better comp could be 'Sinners,' which made a similar $48 million in its opening weekend. 'Sinners' had an impressive, hard-to-top hold across weekends, and it's possible 'Weapons' has the hallmarks to potentially do the same. Reviews are equally strong, 'Weapons' got an A- CinemaScore to an A for 'Sinners,' and 'Weapons' (like 'Sinners') also did especially well in IMAX, bringing in $8.1 million globally from IMAX screens compared to $11.1 million global for 'Sinners.' IMAX is already planning on holding over 'Weapons' on virtually all its domestic screens for another weekend. For his next film, Cregger will be dabbling with IP in his take on the video game franchise 'Resident Evil,' another property that demanded an aggressive bidding war to win Cregger's services. But the success of 'Weapons' suggests that studios will be lining up to give him a blank check for whatever original idea he hatches next. Watch pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter, aged 10, cosplaying Axl Rose to cover Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Regardless of how fanatical and undiluted your love of rock and metal is, you cannot possibly be unaware of the existence of pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter. A former Disney TV star, the 26-year-old singer's 2024's album Short n' Sweet, topped the national charts in no fewer than 18 countries, and included three UK number one singles: her upcoming seventh album, Man's Best Friend, is due on August 29, has already yielded one UK/US chart-topper in the form of single Manchild. Basically, she's kinda a big deal. But before international superstardom beckoned, Carpenter, like almost every 'overnight success' in the music industry, worked for years honing her craft. And as part of her musical education, she was schooled in classic rock - Queen, The Beatles, Rush, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne and more - by her father David. "The Trees is the longest song I've ever heard," the singer joked to Rolling Stone earlier this year about Rush's classic single from 1978's Hemispheres album. "I heard it my whole childhood." Remarkably, there's no shortage of visual evidence of Carpenter's early years in existence online. Want to see her perform The Beatles' Come Together, back in 2009? Here you go. Wonder what she sounded like, aged 12, channelling her inner Prince Of Darkness? Wonder no more. Ah yes, you cry, but I bet she wouldn't have dared try to emulate Axl Rose's distinctive vocals, by covering a Guns N' Roses classic? But that's where you're wrong, friend. Behold, Sabrina Carpenter, aged 10, and her cover of Sweet Child O' Mine. If, by chance, hearing this has made you wonder what other unusual or unheralded covers of this Gn'R classic exist out there on the World Wide Web, here are 10 of the most interesting covers of Sweet Child... , ranging across the musical spectrum from jazz to house, ska to goth, electro to metalcore. AMC beats estimates as blockbuster titles boost theater attendance

STORY: AMC Entertainment reported a more than 35% surge in second-quarter revenue on Monday, beating Wall Street expectations, as top U.S. blockbusters "A Minecraft Movie" and "Lilo & Stitch" brought bigger crowds to theaters. Shares of AMC ended almost 3.5% higher after reporting the results. The theater chain said moviegoers' attendance jumped nearly 26%. The film industry worldwide has benefited from a recovering box office and growing consumer demand for premium moviegoing experiences. Warner Bros Discovery's video game-based film "A Minecraft Movie" grossed nearly $1 billion globally, helping the company report 55% growth in its studio unit and a surprise profit during the April to June period. AMC still reported a net loss of $4.7 million, but the rebound at the box office helped significantly narrow that figure from a nearly $33 million loss a year earlier.
