Submit a question for Kelly Iko's Rockets mailbag
The Houston Rockets have won three of their last four games following the All-Star break, looking like a team with its eyes set on securing home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Over the final 23 games of the regular season, however, head coach Ime Udoka will have several things to sort through : Solidifying his rotation ahead of the postseason, reintegrating Jabari Smith Jr. after his return from a fractured left hand, and most importantly, getting reacclimated to having veteran point guard Fred VanVleet, who missed 11 games with an ankle injury.
As a result, questions remain about the current roster. What is Houston's best starting lineup? What have we learned about the team while multiple starters have been away? Does Alperen Şengün fully embrace the All-Star mentality? Can Jalen Green be a consistent playmaker? And much more.

2 Texas A&M WR commits listed as Top 5 Rivals Camp performers
2 Texas A&M WR commits listed as Top 5 Rivals Camp performers Texas A&M's wide receiver future will depend on quarterback play and, of course, offensive coordinator Collin Klein's performance during the 2025 season. However, if starting QB Marcel Reed improves from the pocket combined with Klein's solid playcalling, the future is very bright for two incoming 2026 wide receiver commits, as four-stars Aaron Gregory and Madden Williams were reportedly two of the top-performing pass-catchers during the Rivals Camp Series. Ahead of the annual Rivals Five-Star event taking place in Indianapolis at the end of the month, Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman detailed the top performers, which included Gregory and Williams, who both increased their recruiting stock before their official visits this summer. Last weekend, Gregory was one of three Aggie commits to shut down his recruitment. At the same time, Madden Williams, who Florida State is heavily pursuing, will take his official visit to Texas A&M on June 20, his final visit of the summer. Here's what Spiegelman had to say about each player's Rivals camp performances: 2026 4-star WR commit Aaron Gregory "Gregory has been one of the crown jewels of Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class. After turning in a monster junior season for Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County, Gregory has enjoyed a sensational offseason, including a strong showing in Atlanta." "The future Aggie has a knack for wow receptions. He's extremely smooth with outstanding polish and the ability to get open. He's a problem for opposing defenses with the ability to work at all different levels of the field." 2026 4-star WR commit Madden Williams "Williams was the Wide Receiver MVP in Los Angeles. Another step forward as a route-runner and playmaker with size, speed and toughness to operate outside the numbers, Williams also flashed more polish and won in various contested-catch situations working on the perimeter and back in the middle of the field. Williams also showed the ability to separate against some elite cornerbacks." "He's another Texas A&M commit who has taken advantage of a big offseason." Gregory's smooth transitions, downfield speed, and soft hands will make him an immediate threat once he finds his groove with the Aggies. At the same time, as Spiegelman notes, Williams has improved as a route runner and could become a nightmare matchup in the middle of the field against zone coverage. Both players, paired with four-star wide receiver commit Mike Brown, currently represent Texas A&M's future at the position. Bold 3-Team Trade Idea Sends Kevin Durant To Preferred Destination
Bold 3-Team Trade Idea Sends Kevin Durant To Preferred Destination originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Kevin Durant's next move could reshape the NBA again, and if Bleacher Report's Dan Favale has it right, the San Antonio Spurs might just pull off the boldest deal of the offseason. With Durant reportedly favoring the Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat as his long-term destinations, Favale's proposed three-team blockbuster finds a way to get the 15-time All-Star exactly where he wants to go: San Antonio. Advertisement Charlotte Hornets Receive: 2025 No. 2 pick, 2026 second-round pick (via Spurs), 2028 Minnesota Timberwolves second-round pick (via Spurs) Phoenix Suns Receive: Harrison Barnes (via Spurs), Keldon Johnson (via Spurs), Jeremy Sochan (via Spurs), Mark Williams (via Hornets), 2025 No. 14 pick, 2026 San Antonio Spurs first-round pick, 2027 first-round pick (via Hornets) San Antonio Spurs Receive: Kevin Durant, 2025 No. 4 pick The Spurs Get A Big 3 To Instantly Contend This proposed deal gives all three franchises something meaningful. Most importantly, it delivers Durant to a team he's long admired, one loaded with young talent and structure, featuring generational prospect Victor Wembanyama and newly-acquired All-Star guard De'Aaron Fox. Advertisement Pairing Durant with Wemby and Fox would instantly elevate the Spurs into contender status, a dramatic acceleration of their rebuild. According to The Athletic, there was mutual interest between KD and the Spurs even before this year's trade deadline. ESPN's Shams Charania has now confirmed that San Antonio remains on Durant's shortlist, alongside Miami and Houston. The Spurs have both the asset base and financial flexibility to construct a deal that keeps their future intact while adding Durant's veteran shot-making and playoff pedigree. The beauty of this construction is balance. San Antonio keeps Devin Vassell and gives up the No. 2 pick, but they still retain the No. 4 pick, keeping them in the top tier of this draft class. The Suns Can Now Retool With Young Talent For Phoenix, this isn't the blockbuster haul that matches what they gave up for Durant (Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, four first-rounders), but it's a reasonable return for a 36-year-old on an expiring deal. Advertisement They receive two first-round picks, a lottery pick this year, and four solid rotation players—including a long-term center in Mark Williams and a versatile forward in Jeremy Sochan, while Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes offer immediate wing depth. Most importantly, they stay competitive around Devin Booker. The Hornets Move Up In The Draft Charlotte, meanwhile, sacrifices Mark Williams and the No. 4 pick but leapsfrogs into the No. 2 spot, presumably to take Rutgers star Dylan Harper. Pairing Harper with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller gives the Hornets a tantalizing perimeter trio, even if the frontcourt takes a temporary hit. Kevin Durant Gets His Wish, The Suns Get The Right Pieces, And The Hornets Can Land Another Young Star Durant still holds significant power in this process, and his ability to sign a two-year, $122 million extension immediately after a trade gives him leverage. Advertisement But this deal could satisfy all sides: Phoenix reloads, Charlotte pivots toward a new future, and the Spurs land one of the greatest scorers of all time to pair with their next generational force. If executed, this isn't just a win-now move for San Antonio—it could be the beginning of a modern-day dynasty. NBA Insider Reveals Why Kevin Durant To Rockets Hasn't Been Finalized Yet Amid Other Viable Trade Destinations
NBA Insider Reveals Why Kevin Durant To Rockets Hasn't Been Finalized Yet Amid Other Viable Trade Destinations originally appeared on Fadeaway World. A Kevin Durant trade this offseason has now come close to being an imminent reality as multiple sources say he could be traded even before the 2025 NBA Draft. It has now become a question of 'when and where' instead of 'if' Durant gets traded this summer. Advertisement A recent report from ESPN claimed that Durant had listed his top three destinations and conveyed them to the front office: the Miami Heat, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Houston Rockets. While the Spurs rejected the Suns' most recent counteroffer for Durant, the Rockets seemed like a viable option for Durant. But, according to ESPN's Tim McMahon, the Rockets also seem to have reached an impasse with the Suns over what is a reasonable price for Durant. On Brian Windhorst's Hoops Collective podcast, McMahon spoke about the situation. 'I'm best sourced in Houston, I think they would really like to have Kevin Durant, at what they consider to be a reasonable cost, which I don't think the Suns are considering to be an appealing return.' The Rockets have likely refused to include Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun and other members of their young core to be included in this trade. He goes on to list the other options for Durant, like Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors or the Los Angeles Clippers. Advertisement 'If you're one of these teams who aren't on KD's preferred list of destinations, how much are you willing to pay to get a guy who the threat is that he's a rental. Now Toronto's had a lot of success with the rental before, but Toronto does not have that infrastructure in place as they did when they got Kawhi. You could argue Minnesota, hey, conference finals last two years.' To be fair, he's right to point out that the Raptors no longer have pieces like Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby (who they had when they traded for Kawhi Leonard) to appeal to a star player like Durant. So Toronto seems like a less likely destination for Durant. However, the Timberwolves and the Clippers may be dark horses in this race to get Kevin Durant. The Clippers may have a big decision if they decide to get into the sweepstakes for Durant. They would have to decide between Kawhi Leonard, an injury prone star who hasn't seen as much success with the Clippers as he did in his previous teams, or Norman Powell, the veteran third option on this team who stepped up in Leonard's absence last season especially. One of these players will have to be included since the Clippers will have to match Durant's salary. Additionally they may have to trade one or both of their first-round picks in 2029 and 2031. Advertisement The Timberwolves , who reportedly have been interested in trading for Durant, could elevate from a confirmed playoff berth to a championship contender in the West if they get Durant to pair up with Anthony Edwards. They will have to decide between Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert on whom to include in the trade, either of whom would be an easy giveaway for Durant. Hence, they could be a serious contender to trade for Durant.
