50% bus fare concession for women, students, transgenders, disabled & elderly

Bhubaneswar: The cabinet on Tuesday approved 50% concession in bus fare for women, students, transgenders, persons with disabilities and senior citizens under the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva (MBS) scheme.The initiative, aimed at improving rural connectivity and ensuring safe, reliable and efficient transport across the state, will be operated and monitored by the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC). The concession will be applicable to both AC and non-AC buses running under the MBS network.Apart from fare subsidies, the buses will be equipped with advanced safety features such as CCTV cameras, panic buttons, live vehicle tracking, passenger information systems, and advanced driver assistance systems. Jamshedpur: The South Eastern (SE) Railway has introduced two MEMU trains each to Chaibasa and Chakulia from Tatanagar to accommodate the increasing flow of the daily passengers on the two mainline routes. Tatanagar-Chaibasa train will leave the originating station at 8:55 pm and will reach the last destination station at 11 pm. In its return journey, Chaibasa-Tatanagar train will chug off from the originating station at 3:20 am and will reach the last stoppage at 5:45 am. The train will stop at Adityapur, Gamharia, Birbans, Sini, Mahali Marup, Rajkharsawan and Pandrasali railway stations on the up and down route daily. The Tatanagar-Chakulia train will leave the originating station at 11 pm and reach the destination at 12:45 pm. The Chakulia-Tatanagar train will leave the originating station at 3 pm and will reach the destination at 5 pm. The train will stop at Salgajhari, Govindpur, Asanboni, Rakha Mines, Galudih, Ghatsila, Chirugora, Dhalbhumgarh, Kokpara stations on the up and down route. The Tatanagar-Chakulia train will operate on all days except Sunday and Chakulia-Tatanagar will operate on all days except Saturday, said SE railway official on Tuesday. TNN

Bhubaneswar: Inter-state bus services between cities of Odisha and places like Ayodhya, Ujjain, Tirupati, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Bhilai will be flagged off by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday, ahead of Rath Yatra. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Christened 'Shri Jagannath Express Bus Services', the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) vehicles will operate on the following routes — Puri-Ayodhya, Puri-Ujjain, Puri-Tirupati, Puri-Hyderabad, Puri-Bhilai, Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam, Raighar-Hyderabad, and Bhawanipatna-Hyderabad. "We will provide convenient and comfortable bus service to people through the Jagannath Express. Passengers can travel within Odisha and across India smoothly. The Jagannath Expresses are fully prepared to offer transportation services to the people of Odisha," read an official statement from OSRTC. OSRTC officials said the super premium buses are equipped with all facilities to make the journey more comfortable and secure. "We are excited to bring this experience to the people," an official said. Bus services will commence officially from Wednesday. "People can visit the OSRTC website and book tickets. People from other cities can take the opportunity to travel to Puri for Rath Yatra. They can also return on these buses after the festival concludes," said an OSRTC official. Every year, OSRTC runs buses from different Odisha cities to Puri for Rath Yatra. This year, the launch of Shri Jagannath Express Bus Service will help people from different cities across the country to take part in the festival. Besides, private bus owners are also running interstate bus services and provide dedicated services during Rath Yatra.
