The blatant contempt Celtic are held in by jealous rivals will rob a man of his rightful prize

Hearts have come out swinging at officials over their Scottish Cup semi final defeat to Aberdeen.
Tynecastle chiefs want answers from the SFA after ref John Beaton sent off Michael Steinwender and Cammy Devlin - before adding a third after the full time whistle as he flashed red at assistant boss Mike Garrity. Hotline callers, however, have already made up their minds on the matter.
Willie Mercer, Dumfries, said: 'Once again the outcome of a cup game at Hampden has been influenced by the inept performance of the match officials. The first red card for Hearts is debatable on the basis that there was a defender capable of covering. The second booking for Devlin was a disgrace, he had his eyes fully on the ball and the Aberdeen player nicks in just as he goes to play it, making the contact accidental. Too often now games have been won and lost through the ineptitude of our referees and I have no doubt that Beaton and his match officials done Hearts out of a place in the final.'
But Ian Urquhart isn't impressed with the Jambos' claims.. He emailed: 'All season we have had to listen to what Hearts were going to do this season, first it was split the Old Firm, then get third, then top six and win the Scottish Cup. Now it's the referee's fault for cheating. What a lot of nonsense that lot talk, the sooner they realise they are an average team in the bottom half of the league for a reason the better. At this stage they still could be in a relegation scrap. Third team in Scotland? They're not even the third biggest in Edinburgh.'
And Hibee Neil Renton, Leith, couldn't resist chipping in. He said: 'I had to check that it wasn't the first of April when I read Hearts'l statement. Maybe they should print out loads of the statement and use it to paper over the cracks at Tynie. The Gorgie mob are in free fall and they're at fault - not officials.'
Celtic cantered into the final with a 5-0 win over St Johnstone and Brendan Rodgers now stands on the brink of a historic third domestic treble as boss. Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: 'There is only one choice for manager of the year. Brendan Rodgers has re-established Celtic as Scotland's top European club and the only one competing at the top level. He's also made us the world's most successful football club and if he completes the Treble will make this our greatest season since Lisbon. Case closed.'
But Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, argued: 'Celtic fans are being disrespectful to Aberdeen as the Scottish Cup is still to play for. Brendan Rodgers claiming a historic treble? They should wait and not count their chickens before they hatch.' Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: 'That was a five star performance against a side that have had a fantastic Scottish Cup record in recent years. Even with Maeda playing out wide when I believe his best position is centre forward he still weighed in with two goals. However, despite his goal, Adam Idah still flatters to deceive and if Kyogo is open to a move back next season Rodgers should prioritise this.'
Scott McAdam, Glasgow, took aim at regular caller Alan Flett when he said: 'What a performance from the champions, no doubt we will be told we are playing no one by Alan Flett and few others. But it will be great to see title number 55 done and a cup final to look forward to. Over at Ibrox I hear they are leaving a phone box for the fans to get in so they can enjoy all the dead rubbers they have left.'
And Stephen McDonald emailed: 'So Rangers have ended the season with no trophies again, everyone knew this at start of the season except Rangers fans. The simple fact is that the next Old Firm is a dead rubber. For Celtic our only priority left this season is the Scottish Cup and it has been for a while.'

I often see players at international events, playing with someone other than their usual partner (or a sponsor) and forming a superstar pair – even if it's only for one tournament. One of the most exciting pairs at the recent European Transnational Championships in Poland was Norwegian Geir Helgemo, the player widely regarded as the best in the world, playing with Zachary Grossack, at only 28, the youngest Grand Life Master in the American Contact Bridge League, and already the winner of several world titles. The two could hardly be more different: Geir a quiet introvert and Zach an exuberant extrovert. Together they worked magic. Here's Zach at the helm in their round-of-64 knockout match. When Geir doubled, Zach ignored a possible Heart fit and instead made the value bid of 3 NT, which was a good start as 6♥️ can suffer a direct Spade ruff. How would you plan the play when West leads the ♦️10? Assuming we pick up the Hearts, we have 11 on top. We should be able to do business with West and his six Spades, but his hand has to be moulded into shape first. Declarer won and cashed four Clubs, West throwing a couple of Spades. Next came the top two Hearts in dummy and he ran the ♥️10. West had to make two more discards which were a Spade and a Diamond. The stage is set: when the fourth Heart is cashed, the West hand is squeezed. If he throws yet another Spade, we can just set those up, so he has to throw his penultimate Diamond. Now Zach cashed the remaining top Diamond and played a Spade to his King. West had only Spades left and had to give up. A dynamic duo!

Glenn Hoddle names 'team to beat' in Champions League and snubs PSG

Glenn Hoddle has named the 'team to beat' in the Champions League and overlooked holders Paris Saint-Germain. PSG clinched their first ever Champions League trophy last season, thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. The French champions secured more silverware on Wednesday night as they came from two goals down against Tottenham to win the UEFA Super Cup. Thomas Frank looked set for an immediate trophy at the start of his Spurs tenure after Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero scored either side of half-time. But Lee Kang-in gave PSG hope with an 85th-minute goal and Goncalo Ramos' 95th-minute equaliser forced a penalty shootout. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. Luis Enrique's side held their nerve in the shootout to give PSG their first Super Cup trophy and deny Spurs a second European trophy in three months. PSG also impressed in the Club World Cup over the summer – losing to Chelsea in the final – and appear to be the favourites to win the Champions League this season. Hoddle insists PSG under Enrique are a 'serious team' but views Liverpool as the 'team to beat' in Europe, especially if Arne Slot gets a couple more transfer signings over the line. The Premier League champions have spent £250m so far this summer and remain interested in big-money moves for Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi. Asked who will emerge as PSG's biggest rival for the Champions League trophy this season, Hoddle told TNT Sports: 'For me, we're all hearing the same thing about Liverpool in the transfer market. 'If those deals so happen, wow, they will have some squad. So I would say Liverpool might be the ones to beat. 'If they get who they're tying to get, I think they will go very close in Europe. They're a very good sign now, never mind about the new signings. 'PSG are a serious team though and really well-balanced. That's why they will be one of the favourites to go back and win it but in any sport, winning a title is one thing but retaining it is very, very difficult.' Ex-England star Karen Carney, meanwhile, declared Barcelona as PSG's biggest rival in the Champions League. The La Liga champions reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season before losing to Inter Milan in heartbreaking circumstances. 'Barcelona's Achilles heel was just the defensive mindset last season but going forward they had absolutely everything,' she said. 'PSG will respect that and Barcelona could push them. PSG are full of quality, they're only just come back from their summer break. 'They're the ones to beat for me. It would be great if the English teams can bridge the gap but I still have my eye on that Barcelona team because if they sort out the defence they could push these guys.' Despite watching his Tottenham team concede two late goals and then lose the penalty shootout, Frank was able to take a number of positives from the Super Cup defeat. The former Brentford boss took over at Spurs earlier in the summer after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou. 'I think we played a very good game against one of the best teams in the world, maybe the best at this moment in time,' Frank said. 'We had them exactly where we wanted them for 80-something minutes until the 2-1 goal, then of course the momentum shifted a little bit. More Trending 'The team, the players, the club, the fans, there is a lot to be happy with. It is a flip of the coin when you go to a penalty shootout. 'We showed that we can be adaptable and pragmatic, and we needed to be against a team like PSG. 'The way we wanted to defend, high pressure and low defending, was top, almost perfect, and also the set pieces were very good and dangerous.' Spurs face Burnley in their Premier League opener on Saturday while PSG begin their Ligue 1 title defence a day later against Nantes. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Celtic vs Falkirk: Premier Sports Cup action returns to Parkhead as Rodgers aims to continue perfect start

SCOTT BAIN was in the Celtic dugout the last time these two teams clashed in the competition 11 months ago - at the quarter-final stage. But this week the former Celtic goalkeeper could take on his old team-mates at his old shooting ground at Parkhead - in the Premier Sports Cup last 16. 2 Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers Credit: PA 2 Falkirk boss John McGlynn Credit: Kenny Ramsay Celtic host John McGlynn's side in their first domestic cup fixture after receiving a bye to miss the group stage and progress straight to the knockout round. Both sides faced off at the same stadium last September, but Falkirk were in the Championship at that point. Now this is set to be the first of at least four meetings between the two sides after the Bairns won the second tier last season. The last meeting of course ended in a victory for Celts as Brendan Rodgers' men went on to lift the trophy following a penalty shootout win over Rangers at Hampden in December. But while the quarter-final meeting ended in a 5-2 win for the Hoops, it wasn't quite as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. It was actually Falkirk who raced in front TWICE in that tie, having initially taken the lead through Ross MacIver after 11 minutes. Finn Yeats then ensured they held onto their lead at half-time with a stoppage time goal after Paulo Bernardo's equaliser. A brace from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah in the second half guaranteed the win, though, and the first half scares were quickly forgotten about. But can McGlynn's side stun the Hoops again and get the job done come full-time on Friday? SunSport has all the details ahead of the cup cracker. Alternatively, you can follow all the action right here via SunSport's LIVE blog. Team news Jota remains the only long-term absentee for Celtic which sees Rodgers having a full squad aside from him at his disposal for this game. Kieran Tierney will be available for selection despite the manager revealing he was SICK at half-time of the 2-0 win against Pittodrie. There could be a place in the matchday squad for the first time for new signing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey after he was left out against Aberdeen. Shin Yamada could make his first start after looking promising off the bench in the second half in the Granite City. Falkirk, meanwhile, will likely be without star man Ethan Ross after he suffered a nasty ankle injury against Livingston. Other players expected to be missing for the Bairns include Finn Yeats, Tom Lang, Coll Donaldson and Barney Stewart.
