Malaysian Purchases RM11K Worth Of CHAGEE Drinks In 30 Days To Win RM15K Travel Card

Hype Malaysia22-07-2025
Human history has shown us the true grit of an individual's dedication and effort in acquiring prized items, whether it involves competing for a cash prize or spending a ludicrous amount of money to stay at the top of a leaderboard. When there's a will, there's definitely a way.
It was recently reported that a Malaysian purchased 978 cups of CHAGEE in 30 days to win a grand prize of a RM15.9K travel gift card. Reported by Facebook user @/Ryusen 生活小分享, the person would have had to spend at least RM11.6K in CHAGEE drinks alone to achieve such a feat.
Following CHAGEE's 'Collect Cups, Connect Everyday' contest, which ran from 19th June to 18th July, the individual only known as Leo on the leaderboard managed to average 32.6 cups per day for the grand prize. Facebook user Ryusen details his calculation methods of using CHAGEE's cheapest beverage option, valuing RM11.90, to Leo's astounding CHAGEE purchase. The calculation estimated that Leo would have had to spend at least RM11,648.20 to stay on top of the leaderboard.
The competition was straightforward, as the rankings are based on the number of qualifying cups purchased via the CHAGEE app during the campaign period. The rankings were nothing short of impressive, with 2nd place by an individual known as CHA holding 735 cups and 3rd at 557 cups by Faz. Even placing 100th place on the leaderboard required a minimum of 37 cups.
The contest has since ended, but CHAGEE has yet to reveal this mystery buyer on their socials. Regardless, they deserve kudos for their dedication.

Negeri Sembilan boosts internet coverage for VNSY 2026 tourism push

SEREMBAN: The widespread adoption of QR Pay across Negeri Sembilan's business premises has highlighted the need for robust internet coverage ahead of Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (VNSY) 2026. State Heritage, Technology, Innovation and Digital Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli noted that most foreign tourists prefer online payments, even at local eateries. He emphasised the state's diverse attractions, from beaches and heritage sites to unique culinary offerings like rendang maman and daging salai. 'Tourists frequently use QR codes for cashless transactions, making reliable internet crucial for smooth business operations,' he told reporters. Mohd Faizal spoke after launching the Negeri Sembilan 2025 Tourism Area Communications Service Coverage Coordination Workshop with MCMC. The event was attended by MCMC Southern Zone senior director Rizal Abdul Malek and Negeri Sembilan MCMC director Md Tahir Musa. Mohd Faizal pledged to expand internet access in remote tourism spots, including Rembau, Kuala Pilah, and Sungai Menyala Forest Reserve. 'We will upgrade telecommunications towers to ensure better connectivity, even in indigenous villages,' he added. The workshop aims to refine strategies for improving communication services in tourist-heavy areas. Key goals include identifying coverage gaps and implementing innovative solutions for seamless connectivity. This initiative supports the state's vision to position Negeri Sembilan as a top Malaysian tourism destination by 2026. Mohd Faizal stressed the importance of collaboration between local agencies, telcos, and MCMC for comprehensive coverage. - Bernama

PKBM BIM Satellite Centre to boost digital construction skills in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Bumiputera Contractors Association (PKBM) has launched the PKBM BIM Satellite Centre to address digital technology challenges in the construction sector. Located in Section 13, Shah Alam, the training centre aims to equip contractors with skills in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other advanced technologies. PKBM president Datuk Dr Azman Yusoff highlighted the centre's collaboration with CIDB E-Construct Services Sdn Bhd, which donated 15 computers for training programmes. 'Terms like BIM, IoT, and drone mapping are common globally, but many Malaysian contractors are still adapting,' he said during the PKBM Sixth Annual General Meeting. Azman noted that limited access to resources and support has slowed technology adoption among local contractors. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan attended the event, underscoring government support for digital transformation in construction. The centre will begin operations next month, initially training PKBM contractors to reduce reliance on foreign labour. Azman stressed that digitalisation is now a necessity for survival in the competitive construction industry. He urged Bumiputera contractors to step out of their comfort zones to remain professionally competitive. PKBM also proposed reducing tender margins from 15% to 10% to align with current market conditions. The association called for the reinstatement of the Variation of Price (VOP) mechanism to manage sudden material cost hikes. Azman praised CIDB and DOSM's collaboration in monitoring construction material prices to prevent market manipulation. He expressed hope for increased budget allocations for small contractors in the upcoming 2026 Budget. - Bernama

Trump meets Malaysian-born Intel CEO just days after demanding his resignation

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Monday said he had a "very interesting" meeting with the chief of US chip maker Intel, just days after calling for his resignation. Trump said on his Truth Social platform that he met with Lip-Bu Tan along with Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent. "The meeting was a very interesting one," Trump said in the post. "His success and rise is an amazing story." Trump added that members of his cabinet are going to spend time with Tan and bring the president "suggestions" next week. Intel did not respond to a request for comment. Trump demanded last week that the recently-hired boss of Intel resign "immediately," after a Republican senator raised national security concerns over his links to firms in China. "The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem," Trump posted on Truth Social last Thursday. Tan released a statement at the time saying that the company was engaged with the Trump administration to address the concerns raised and ensure officials "have the facts." Intel is one of Silicon Valley's most iconic companies but its fortunes have been dwarfed by Asian powerhouses TSMC and Samsung, which dominate the made-to-order semiconductor business. In a statement, Tan said there has been "a lot of misinformation circulating" about his past roles at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. "I have always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards," Tan said. The Malaysian-born tech industry veteran took the helm at struggling Intel in March, announcing layoffs as White House tariffs and export restrictions muddied the market.
