During this Friday morning's edition of NBC's "Today," Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and the rest of the team had devastating news to share with their audience.
"Today" host Sheinelle Jones has been off air since Dec. 18, 2024. She revealed in January that she was away from NBC to take care of a "family health matter."
"Hi everybody ... I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I've been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I'm taking time to deal with a family health matter," Jones wrote on Instagram. "It's not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I'll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle."
Fast forward to May 25, and it was revealed that Jones suffered a tragic loss. Her husband, Uche Ojeh, died at the young age of 45.
Ojeh was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
"There are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children," Guthrie said. "Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. ... We just want to say Sheinelle, Kayin, Uche and Clara and the Ojeh family: we are with you, we love you. You are our family and we're just sending all of our love to you right now."
NBC host Craig Melvin added, "He loved those kids more than anything else in this world, and was just so proud. He was that dad that was on the sideline of every soccer game. He was at all of the concerts and the recitals. He was that guy."
Jones and Ojeh were married for 18 years and had three children together - Kayin, Clara and Uche.
Earlier this Friday, Jones posted this brief message on Instagram: "Thank you, for all of your love and support."
Jones' husband was described as the "kind of person who brought life, warm and joy to every room." He will be missed.
Our thoughts are with Uche's loved ones at this time.Prayers Pouring In For Beloved 'TODAY' Show Host first appeared on The Spun on May 23, 2025

Benny Blanco Addresses Wedding Plans With Selena Gomez

Ever since Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco announced their engagement, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next big news – their wedding. After the record producer reportedly invited Ed Sheeran to the nuptials, rumors about the couple's wedding date and planning started doing the rounds. Now, in a recent interview, Blanco has opened up about his wedding plans with Gomez, putting all rumors to rest. Fans are highly anticipating the wedding news of Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez after the couple got engaged in December. The couple has always said that they are still enjoying their engagement period. However, in May, during Vanity Fair's 'Lie Detector Test' series, when Ed Sheeran revealed that Blanco had already invited him to their nuptials, fans could not keep calm. Many believed that the couple had started planning their wedding and were keeping it under wraps. Blanco has now opened up about his welding plans to Gomez, dismissing the rumors. In a recent interview with Australia's 'Today' show, Blanco clarified Sheeran's invite and wedding date. He said he 'just told' the English singer that he had to 'come to the wedding' whenever the couple gets hitched. However, newspapers took 'things out of context.' Speaking about wedding plans, the record producer revealed that 'unfortunately, we have not scheduled one yet. But we will,' putting all the rumors to rest. Nevertheless, Blanco's life has been 'great' and 'couldn't be better' since the engagement. But during an interview with 'Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware' podcast in April, Gomez did spill some interesting wedding details. The Rare Beauty founder hinted that the couple is not keen on having the traditional first dance as they will 'feel embarrassed.' She is only 'looking to have a special dance' with her maternal grandfather. Moreover, Gomez might also participate in the Jewish wedding tradition — the 'chair dance.' Steven Spielberg to introduce 'Jaws' for NBC's 50th anniversary broadcast

June 13 (UPI) -- Steven Spielberg is set to introduce his classic shark thriller, Jaws, for a special NBC broadcast on June 20 in honor of the film's 50th anniversary. "Universal is home to the biggest movies in the world and it doesn't get any bigger than Jaws," Jenny Storms, chief marketing officer at NBCUniversal Television & Streaming, said in a press release on Thursday. "We want to celebrate 50 years of this enduring film that has captured the public imagination for generations by bringing it to audiences at home in all the ways they love to watch." The film about a Great White shark terrorizing a New England beach community around the Fourth of July stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. As of Sunday, all four Jaws movies will be streaming exclusively on Peacock through July 14. A 50th anniversary edition of the movie will also be released Tuesday on digital and as a 4K/Blu-ray and digital combo pack, which includes the documentary, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story. The documentary will also air on NatGeo next month as part of its SharkFest programming block.
