John Kaczmarek's business, Carleton Hotel Bar, can be seen in the 2025 Budweiser Super Bowl commercial.
Kaczmarek is excited about the national exposure for his business and the town of Carleton.
CARLETON — Surrounded by family and friends, it's a sure bet John Kaczmarek will be watching 2025's Super Bowl LIX.
While rooting for his favorite football team, Kaczmarek will be watching for this year's Budweiser Super Bowl commercial. His business, Carleton Hotel Bar, will be making an appearance in this year's Budweiser commercial, called 'First Delivery."
Located at 927 Monroe St., the modest business informed the community on its Facebook page, posting 'The hotel made it in the Budweiser Super Bowl commercial.'
For more than 17 years, Kaczmarek has owned the neighborhood bar known for its burgers and steaks. Patrons gather to watch sports on TV, play pool and sing karaoke. It offers dine-in specials like every Tuesday features a classic burger and fries and music bingo is every Sunday from 6-8 p.m. except Super Bowl Sunday when they will be hosting a watch party beginning at 6 p.m.
'I found out from one of my customers,' Kaczmarek said. 'There's a place where you can go and get drone coverage for free. If you go to that website they show different pictures of Carleton. One coming one way and one coming the other way. It just happened that Budweiser picked that one up out of all the places.'
The Carleton resident said that same footage found on Shutterstock.com is used in a Trump ad.
From the archives: The Carleton Hotel celebrates a century of customers in 2011
'Shutterstock has all this footage of an early morning aerial view on Monroe Street,' he said. 'And that's what they both used.'
Being in the national spotlight, even for a brief moment, is exciting to Kaczmarek.
'But I'm more excited for Carleton,' he said. 'I love the advertising for Carleton.'
According to the marketing department at Budweiser USA, the commercial was directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and Emmy Award-winning commercial director Henry Alex Rubin and created by FCB New York.

The 'Olympic Wage' Debate Could Return to the Ballots in 2026
The 'Olympic Wage' Debate Could Return to the Ballots in 2026 originally appeared on L.A. Mag. Thousands of cooks, room attendants, dishwashers and airport employees across Los Angeles were set to make more than any other minimum-wage worker in the country, but the pushback from business owners and industry giants like United Airlines, Delta, Hilton and Marriott proves they won't go down without a a move to try and halt the rollout, which Mayor Bass signed into law last Tuesday, the defense campaign has until June 30 to secure 93,000 signatures from registered L.A. voters to qualify the measure so it reappears on next year's ballot.'We're the industry. We need to make sure what we fought so hard for is defended,' said Maria Torres, who would've been eligible for the pay increase — but now her time in the state of California is in who speaks only Spanish, said this extra money would be incredibly helpful in supporting her and her husband, whose rent just went up by $300 this month. Originally from Honduras, she often sends whatever she can spare back to family in her home country, but she said she barely has enough to live on herself right now. She and her husband are planning on moving to Louisiana if nothing extra money could go to her housing and healthcare will instead go to their second yacht, she said. 'People can't afford to live in Los Angeles,' says Kurt Petersen, president of Unite Here Local 11, an organization that represents over 30,000 hospitality workers, including Torres. 'Restaurants are struggling…because not enough people eat at them because not enough people have enough money.'Petersen says the larger corporations argue that this will cost the tourism industry millions, and will imperil the L.A. economy. But this ballot initiative, he says, will cost United, Delta and its hotel partners millions — and those millions could go towards paying their workers instead of arguing.'Every dollar that hotel workers, airport workers have in their pocket is one dollar they spend in the community,' he said. 'That's the beauty of this law. Workers spend their paychecks in local restaurants, local businesses, and that's the kind of economy we want.'One major selling point to sign is the threats made by at least eight hotels to pull out of a deal struck to accommodate personnel needed for 2028's Summer Olympic Games, to be held in Los Angeles. Jessica Durrum, the director of Tourism Workers Rising, calls this move 'another greedy tactic' by hotel chains, whose contractual obligations to the Olympics are due in part by the public subsidies given to them to build their lodging in big names in hospitality is no picnic for Tourism Workers Rising. The leaders of these companies always claim tourism is in jeopardy — that 'the sky is falling,' Durrum with the Super Bowl, World Cup and the Olympics, she assures, the sky will never fall.'It's so upsetting for workers…They thought they had this,' Petersen said. 'I mean, it's like grand theft larceny by the modern day robber.' This story was originally reported by L.A. Mag on Jun 4, 2025, where it first appeared.

Harrison County commissioners split on future of Sunset Ellis property
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — What does the future hold for the Sunset Ellis property in Harrison County? County commissioners each have their own opinions on the matter. After coming out of executive session on Wednesday's county commission meeting, Commissioner Patsy Trecost made a motion to revoke the commission's offer to purchase the Sunset Ellis property, claiming that he believed the current owners had 'seller's remorse.' In a discussion on the motion, Trecost continued that his reasoning was to 'let them continue on with their family tradition.' The motion was also derived from a recent Facebook post that gained attention from the community. The motion failed in a 1-2 vote. Harrison County community pushes for restoration of Sunset Ellis Drive-In Commissioner David Hinkle stated that the commission had looked into refurbishing the theatre screen, which was significantly damaged. Estimates for those repairs were around $500,000. 12 News spoke with Hinkle about his opinion of the best route for the future of the property. 'This gives the county an opportunity to develop some land that we've never had. We'll have over 40 acres and the potential to make 30 acres of usable land,' Hinkle said. 'What we did with people sending in what they love about the Ellis, I'd like to see them send in what they think they'd like to see as to do with the property once it's developed, get a sense of what the people of Harrison County would like to see there, because with that much land, we can offer a lot.' During the discussion of the motion, Commission President Susan Thomas said that she would prefer to 'preserve the screen' if it was feasible, but would like to see numbers in regard to how many people visited the Sunset Ellis Drive-In last year. Hinkle reiterated that the Harrison County Commission does not yet own this property despite their attempts to. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Deion Sanders Shoe Style Through the Years [PHOTOS]
In 2023, Deion Sanders, along with Allen Iverson and Derek Jeter, were the first trio of athletes to be inducted into The GQ Sports Style Hall of Fame—and for good reason. Sanders has been the definition of flashy and cool, bringing a blend of flyness, style and confidence that had yet to be seen in the NFL. From the dollar sign earrings the football star wore during Draft Day in 1989 to his own signature Nike sneaker in 1993, Sanders' influence on football expanded way beyond the field. His sense of style also shined through during games and inspired other players, while his penchant for sparkling jewelry—from stacked gold chains and bracelets to diamond rings—was passed down across the league and continues to be on full display with present day athletes. Sanders played in the NFL for 14 seasons, as well as an additional nine seasons of Major League Baseball with several teams. He won two Super Bowl titles and made one World Series appearance in 1992, making him the only athlete to play in a Super Bowl and a World Series. When he was playing both football and baseball for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves in 1992, Sanders also signed his first contract with Nike. He released his first signature sneaker—the Air Diamond Turf—the following year. The sneakers and cleats continue to be fan favorites and lauded as one of the best as far as design and style among athletes. He parted ways with Nike at one point and signed with Under Armour in 2009, before reuniting with Nike in 2023 when he became the University of Colorado's football head coach.
