Kate Middleton's 'silver fox' aide is the talk of Wimbledon appearance

Daily Record14-07-2025
Princess Kate was joined by her private secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Tom White, in the royal box at Wimbledon over the weekend and he has had everyone talking since.
Over the weekend at Wimbledon, Kate Middleton 's personal secretary has become the hot topic of conversation. The Princess of Wales graced Wimbledon for the first time this year on Saturday, attending the women's final.
Kate was later joined by Prince William and kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte for Sunday's men's final. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Kate presented the victors and finalists of the women's event with their trophies.

One moment saw the senior royal sharing a poignant moment with a visibly disheartened Amanda Asiminova by placing her hand on the American's arm and offering encouragement: "Keep your head high."

Princess Kate's striking entrance into the royal box was met with applause on Saturday, yet her arrival became somewhat overshadowed by the presence of her secretary.
Lieutenant Colonel Tom White accompanied the Princess, drawing significant attention during her eagerly awaited appearance, as reported by the Mirror.
Admirers couldn't help but comment on the 36-year-old aide who sported a cream blazer with a shirt and tie, leading one spectator to tweet: "He's a fox!" Another followed suit, remarking: "I mean, silver fox."
Further comments included some playful banter, with a post reading: "Well he sure is dishy," and another chiming in: "Flirt mode is on," accompanied by strings of heart-eyed emojis. A candid tweet from another fan questioned: "Is it a prerequisite for equerrys to be good looking?!"
Lieutenant Colonel Tom White first joined the royal household in 2020 as the late Queen's Squire, serving until her passing in September 2022. He was the first commando of the royal marines to hold the title.

In addition to his royal duties, he is also a skilled tennis player, bearing a striking resemblance to retired Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer, as stated by some fans.
Prior to joining the Royal Family's staff, he served in Afghanistan in 2009, where he played a crucial role in preventing a school bombing in Helmland.

Reports suggest that Princess Kate invited him to accompany her at a public engagement in 2023, and he was subsequently appointed to Prince William and Kate's household staff.
Following the departure of her trusted aide Hannah Cockburn-Logie in October 2022, after two years of service, Kate had been without a private secretary.
A private secretary for a member of the Royal Family is akin to their chief of staff, ensuring the smooth running of the royal's day-to-day activities, from coordinating royal engagements to briefing on meetings.
Private secretaries also accompany the royals during public appearances, often standing a few feet away to keep a vigilant eye on security and fans.

Who is Tia Wardley in Coronation Street? True identity 'solved' in Lisa twist

Coronation Street fans think they know who Tia Wardley really is after Carla Connor was given the name by Logan Radcliffe after asking about Lisa Swain's late wife Becky Tia Wardley in Coronation Street has certainly got viewers speculating over their mystery identity. ‌ The name was mentioned on Friday, and it was hinted they were linked to the case surrounding Becky Swain's demise. Lisa Swain is still struggling to move past the death of her police officer wife Becky years earlier, even looking into the case. ‌ It comes after suggestion earlier this year that Becky may have been a corrupt officer, leading to her possibly being killed. Becky died in the line of duty, hit by a car which was later revealed to have been driven by Logan and Matty Radcliffe. ‌ It was their hints about Becky that left Lisa fearing Becky was in trouble and may have deliberately been killed. But as she and others went snooping this week, she was stopped by her superior DI Costello who clearly knows more than he's letting on. He won't go into matters with Lisa and threatened punishment when he caught her looking at files on his computer. With Carla Connor trying to help her parnter Lisa get the answer she desperately needs, she went to see Logan in prison. ‌ All Logan would say was the name Tia Wardley, demanding money for any new information. But something happened to Logan before anyone would have the chance to see him again. It was because of the chat with Carla and the name he'd shared that he learned from a cellmate how he'd upset a "mutual friend". It seems Logan then got a beating or worse, with fans convinced he may be dead. ‌ So who is Tia, and why are so many people covering up what went down? Why is Costello so eager to silence any investigation into Becky's death, and why is it so important that Logan doesn't spill anything about Becky, or even the mystery Tia? Fans think it has everything to do with Tia's identity, and that she and Becky may be linked. In fact fans think Becky isn't actually dead, and she could have been given a new identity. Fans are wondering if Tia is Becky under a new name, and that there is much more to be exposed. Perhaps this is why Logan mentioned the name, or maybe why Costello is possibly covering things up. ‌ Get the latest drama from the Dales by joining our Emmerdale WhatsApp group As drama continues to unfold in the Yorkshire Dales, the Mirror has launched its very own Emmerdale WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest breaking news, secrets, and spoilers delivered straight to your phone. Could that be Becky's cover name if she was corrupt?" A third fan said: "Becky is 'Tia Wardley'?" A fourth fan posted: "Tia Wardley will be Becky?!" as another agreed: "Could 'Tia Wardley' be Becky's new identity since after she 'died'?" The comments kept on coming too, with one fan writing: "Becky swain is Tia Wardley." A final comment said: "Becky is in witness protection and Tia Wardley is her alias, that's why Carla couldn't find anything and why they don't want Lisa AND Kit digging."

Willy Wonka child star reveals how much he still earns from film and surprising career choice

The child star who played Charlie in Gene Wilder's 1971 hit film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory still makes a small amount of money from the film after choosing a totally different career Child star Peter Ostrum still makes royalties from his role as Charlie in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, 54 years after it was released in 1971. Although Ostrum was one of the classic movie's lead characters, alongside Gene Wilder, he completely turned his back on acting, and instead chose a very different career. ‌ Ostrum, now 67, is a retired veterinarian, and is a father of two. He never starred in another film, making his role as Charlie his one and only acting job. ‌ In an interview at a screening of the movie at his local Snowtown Film Festival in 2018, he was asked if he makes any money from his short-lived acting career. Due to residuals from screenings of the film on TV, he revealed he gets a cheque for roughly $8 to $9 every few months, despite the Johnny Depp remake making half a billion dollars. It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue. ‌ During the same interview, he revealed that his wife, Loretta M. Lepkowski, had no idea he had been a small part of Hollywood history when she met him. She said: 'Once I saw it, I realised — 'Wow, he had a major part.'' He spoke about the reception of the movie, which he described as "lukewarm" at the time. Despite having major film star Gene Wilder as the titular character, he said people simply "forgot about it", with it making around $4million at the box office. ‌ During a 2021 virtual reunion hosted by Yahoo, Ostrum said: "You can't kill Wonka. It just gets played over and over again, whether the original or the remake with Johnny Depp. "And that brought attention back to our film. Kids saw Johnny Depp's version, their parents said, 'You need to see the original.' "Anything that talks about Wonka is good for the Wonka story. It's a great story and it needs to be retold, regardless of who's producing it or who's making it.' ‌ Peter revealed how his life went straight back to normal after he finished filming the movie. Speaking to the Mirror in 2013, Peter said: "I get calls every time there's a new version of the story or some fresh look at the film. You can't kill Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... it keeps resurfacing in different formats. 'We had no idea at the time that it would have any kind of success at all so it's pretty neat that it is still so loved. I know my kids have read it and they liked it.' ‌ He added: "I have a great affection for the story idea that if you are honest and hardworking and do the right thing, good things happen to you." Although he went on to get an offer for a three-film deal, he turned it down as he hated spending time away from home. Peter said said: 'I enjoyed doing it but I couldn't really see myself doing it for the rest of my life. How many kids carry a successful child acting career into an adult acting career? "The Jodie Fosters and Ron Howards you can count on one hand. I think I just played myself in the film – in real life I am a horrible singer and they told me that they weren't going to use my voice but they did. 'Acting was fine, but I wanted something more steady. The key is to find something you love doing, and that's what I got."

Bothwell Street in the city centre has been transformed into downtown New York for the latest instalment of the masked web-slinger's story. Crews working on the big-budget Marvel movie spent the sunny Saturday prepping an intense stunt involving a TANK. Several of the armoured vehicles being used for the movie have been parked along the street. One of them was set up with a huge scaffolding structure around it for stunt doubles to be harnessed in and attached to cables allowing them to perform the iconic flips and jumps Spidey is well-known for. But the stunt that had the public stopping in their tracks was a chase scene which saw cars thrown into the air. A huge crowd lined the bottom of Bothwell Street as the stunt was prepared. There was a sense of excitement as location crews ushered onlookers behind barriers and told them the stunt was about to start. When the director could be heard yelling action, a black film car raced ahead of the tank as it rumbled down Bothwell Street. A taxi and a van attached to hydraulic ramps were thrown into the air as the war machine sped past, with punters gasping in excitement as the vehicles were left suspended in the air. A high-tech drone with a camera attached was zooming overhead to get aerial shots of the stunt. There were some cheers and applause after the stunt ended, bringing some excitement to both movie fans and people going about their day. In later scenes, a stunt double for Tom Holland was spotted on top of the tank as it sped along the street. Glasgow is starting to resemble the Big Apple for Tom Holland's latest MCU appearance. Historic street signs have been covered with decor from Manhattan. Hot dog carts and newsstands are scattered among the streets. American adverts for flats to rent and insurance firms are even plastered over buildings on the street. 8 Tom Holland's stunt double Credit: Splash 8 NYPD cars are being stored on West Campbell Street Credit: John Kirkby 8 Rows of iconic New York yellow cabs have been brought in for the movie Credit: John Kirkby 8 Glasgow has been transformed into New York Credit: John Kirkby Movie vehicles are also being stored on West Campbell Street. The road is lined with an ambulance and New York Fire Department pick-up truck. There are also scores of iconic New York yellow taxis and NYPD police cars. It has brought movie-fever to Glasgow once again, with some punters dressed as Spider-Man putting in an appearance. Holland, 29, returns as the titular character, with real-life girlfriend Zendaya, 28, as Michelle Jones "MJ" Watson, Jon Berntha, 48, portraying The Punisher, and Charlie Cox, 42, as Daredevil. Filming is set to move further along into Merchant City after Wednesday, August 13, with scenes are also expected to be shot on Glassford Street and Virginia Street. It is just the latest lot of filming taking place in Glasgow. Earlier this year, Hollywood hunk Glen Powell filmed scenes for sci-fi flick Ghost Writer on Bothwell Street. It is his second time in the city in a year, as he filmed on the exact same street for the remake of 80's hit Running Man in November. World War Z, which starred Brad Pitt, 61, previously used George Square to represent Philadelphia, while the city was also transformed into Gotham City for Batgirl and The Batman. And the Merchant City got turned into 1960's New York for a parade chase scene in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
