BTN analyst says prepare for a 'different', more versatile Coen Carr this upcoming season "We will see a different Coen Carr this season. It could get scary if that ball handling has improved like his jumper."
Carson Cooper told me Monday that we will see a different Coen Carr this season.

One Big Ten hoops analyst has reportedly heard it's time to prepare for a "different" Coen Carr this upcoming season.
If you follow Michigan State basketball (or really college basketball as a whole), you know that Carr can throw down some of the best dunks out there and has pure incredible unmatched athletic ability. However, the focus to improve his shooting and ball handling has apparently been on display this offseason, with Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network recently saying he's heard positive things around this part of his game.
According to Davis, he said he has recently heard from Carr's Spartan teammate Carson Cooper "that we will see a different Coen Carr this season." Davis went on to add that "it could get scary if that ball handling has improved like (Carr's) jumper." These statements from Davis were posted on social media platform X after quote tweeting a highlight post of Carr during what appears to be offseason workouts.
You can see the full post from Davis and the accompanying highlights below:
Carr showed significant improvements in his all-around game this past season, jumping from 3.1 points to 8.1 points and 1.8 rebounds to 3.6 rebounds per game from his freshman to his sophomore season. It was clear early in the season that Carr was no longer just a highlight-generator and more of a complete basketball player at the Big Ten level. Carr is expected to be one of the top players on the Spartans' squad next year, and his need to meet those expectations only grew this week with the news of Kaleb Glenn's injury.
If Carr can truly take the next step with his ball handling and outside shooting, then he will be an All-Big Ten selection next year. I'm very confident in that statement, and hearing this kind of feedback about Carr's growth excites me for what's to come this upcoming season.

Ohio State basketball head coach Jake Diebler provides summer program update
Ohio State basketball head coach Jake Diebler provides summer program update The Ohio State basketball team has started its offseason workouts as it prepares to put the pieces in place for the 2025-2026 season. It welcomed in some former players the last few days for "Vet Week," has done a lot of five-on-five scrimmaging, gone through conditioning, and worked through many drills and skill development already. The hope is that this year is going to be much, much better than what we've seen over the last three years when the Buckeyes missed the NCAA Tournament. It'll be head coach Jake Diebler's second year, and he sorely needs to build some momentum to turn this program around and get it where everyone believes it should be. Diebler met with the media this week to provide an update on summer workouts, where the team stands, how the House Settlement impacts the program, and much more. We are sharing the entire video of the press conference thanks to the Columbus Dispatch, so you can get Diebler's full comments. Dielber and his staff have a good mix of returning scorers and new blood that will need to mix together and find the chemistry and identity to make a big leap forward. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but we're all here putting the optimism out in the universe hoping it all comes to fruition this season.
