Boys & Girls Club of Greater Augusta get major funding for summer camp

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- SRP Federal Credit Union will be presenting a big check to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta to help fund its summer camp. It is for $25k, and it is funding the Oasis Club Summer Camp where it will cover everything the camp provides. The Oasis summer camp host almost fifty kids and this check helps families who couldn't afford to pay for summer camp. The VP of development for Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta, tells me what else this SRP check supports. 'Breakfast and lunch, as well as healthy snacks throughout the day. Any of those field trips that they want to go on. Sports and athletic programing. Any access to additional resources that kids need in order to have good mental and physical and emotional health and well-being. Academic support. Because we don't want any of our youth to suffer learning loss while school is out for the summer. So it's all of the things,' said Catherine Centre. If you would like to register you would need to call the Boys and Girls club as they do have a wait list. Today's check presentation is from 1-2pm at the Oasis VIP Great Futures Academy on Deans Bridge 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Richmond County's 2025 graduating class earns more than $41 million in scholarships

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Graduating seniors of the Richmond County School System earned more than $41.6 million in scholarships this year, according to an announcement released Friday. RCSS said June 6 that nearly 1,800 students graduated in the county May 28-30, with several receiving scholarship offers. 'This achievement reflects the commitment our students have made to their futures and the incredible guidance they've received from those around them,' said Shawnda Stovall, president of the Richmond County Board of Education. 'We're proud to celebrate the Class of 2025 and deeply grateful to the families, educators, and school staff who supported them every step of the way.' According to the school system, the $41.6 million in scholarships reflects a wide range of postsecondary pathways, from four-year universities and technical colleges to military service and specialized career training programs. 'This incredible accomplishment speaks to the dedication of our students and the strong support systems in our schools,' said Dr. Malinda Cobb, interim superintendent of schools. 'We are especially proud of our school counselors, teachers, and graduation coaches who work alongside families to help students explore their strengths and plan their futures.'
