Pirates of the Caribbean producer teases Johnny Depp's return to films

Captain Jack Sparrow might not have sailed his last voyage. According to longtime Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny Depp could once again reprise career-making role , if the right script comes along. 'If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it,' Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly . 'It's all about what's on the page, as we all know… We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven't quite gotten there yet, but we're close.' Daily Mail has reached out to Depp's representatives for comment, but they have not yet responded. Depp, 62, led five Pirates films between 2003 and 2017, all of which grossed more than $650 million globally, with Dead Man's Chest (2006) and On Stranger Tides (2011) each crossing the $1 billion mark. Together, the franchise has pulled in $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office — much of that with Depp front and center. His future with the Disney-backed series had been uncertain following his highly publicized legal troubles , including his 2022 libel trial against Amber Heard. Previously, the entertainment conglomerate chose to distance itself from the actor, but never formally cut ties with the father-of-two. At the time, millions of his fans signed online petitions demanding the star be reinstated in his role as Sparrow. But with Depp now mounting a major comeback in Lionsgate's upcoming Day Drinker, rumors over his return to the high seas has only grown. His last studio film was 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The path to another Pirates installment has been winding and long. Back in 2020, Variety reported that Disney was developing two separate projects: a reboot led by Margot Robbie and a sixth film continuing the original storyline, written by Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott. Elliott famously co-wrote the first four Pirates adventures. Robbie later told Vanity Fair in 2022 that Disney was 'not interested' in her 'more of a female-led' version, but Bruckheimer pushed back on that narrative. At the time, he told EW there's still room for both. 'I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too,' he said. That same year, he continued to insist that the project was very much 'alive' to The Hollywood Reporter. Although the female-led spinoff is unclear, it does not currently have a release date and no details about casting or production plans have been released.

Orlando Bloom slammed for posting naked photo of daughter Daisy, 4

Orlando Bloom has faced criticism for sharing a photo of himself with his four-year-old daughter, Daisy, naked on the beach. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, shared a series of images of himself and Daisy relaxing at the beach yesterday. The toddler, whom Orlando shares with ex-fiancée Katy Perry, was seen in one photo being held by her doting father as the pair looked out at the ocean. Orlando first posted the photo with Daisy's bum exposed before deleting it and reposting it with an emoji covering her. While there is nothing scandalous about a child swimming naked with her father or a sweet snap being taken of the moment, many questioned whether it was appropriate for Orlando to post the exposing photo to his 7million followers. It especially raised eyebrows, given that he and Katy have been very careful to never post her face to social media in order to protect her privacy. One Reddit user, whtever53, wrote: 'It's super common for small kids to run around naked in beaches where I'm from, wet swimsuits are a nightmare to put on them. That being said, there are a lot of weirdos out there and posting the picture is not a good idea.' Time_Knowledge_1951 put it more harshly, writing: 'Some parents are such idiots. They don't post this child's face on social media so they do understand privacy but then post a naked pic. Make it make sense.' Littlek1dluvr agreed, chiming in: 'I can't help but feel like you have to be so out of touch to think it's okay to post a naked photo of your daughter, to a huge fanbase, and not consider the repercussions. I can understand how that might be a meaningful photo for a parent, but not on the interweb for millions to see.' Others defended the choice, writing that it's normal for children to swim naked and that people were making too much out of an innocent photo. One user wrote: 'I don't understand the outrage in these comments. Like sure, a stupid thing to do and it's great that we are becoming more societally aware of children's privacy in the era of social media, but some of you need to take a deep breath.' Orlando's social media post comes after endless speculation and cryptic social media activity that led fans to believe that Orlando and Katy's relationship was on the rocks. The pair began dating in 2016 and welcomed their daughter in 2020. And while neither Katy nor Orlando has explicitly commented on the reports themselves, their representatives have now issued a statement. They told Us Weekly: 'Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.' They continued: 'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.' The backlash Orlando is facing follows a similar wave of criticism faced by Justin Bieber earlier this year after he posted an image of his son Jack. The Sorry hitmaker, 31, and wife Hailey Bieber, 28, welcomed their first child in August last year but have mostly kept the tot away from their social media pages – they boast a combined following of almost 350million on Instagram alone. More Trending But back in March, some fans were distressed to see Justin post a photo in which he's wearing black shorts and Jack is completely nude, with a Space Invader emoji used to cover his face and his dad's hands shielding his bum from the camera. Fans were quick to point out the dangers of sharing such a photo online, especially given that Justin individually has 294million followers. Many left comments urging the singer to take it down. Both incidents raise salient questions about privacy in the digital age, particularly for children of famous parents who are too young to consent to their image being shared with millions.
