Livingston 3-1 Falkirk: What Martindale said

BBC News09-08-2025
Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "I thought it was a really good professional performance. There was a lot of different aspects to it."We had to try and play at times, but the first half there was a swirling wind and it was really difficult to get out our own half. So Falkirk kind of had the majority of the play but we came up with two brilliant goals. "I thought the first one was a great team goal and the second one was still a good bit of team play there, but it's a great finish from [Lewis Smith]."When we missed the penalty, I think Falkirk took a wee bit of heart from that. "I don't really think they put us under pressure in terms of our defensive first box entries. I don't think Jerome [Prior] had a lot to do today."But I think when the game came into our final third, we dealt with most of the problems. I think the players have got to take a lot of credit for that."On Scott Pittman chasing the club's all-time top goalscoring record: "I'm delighted for wee Pats. He's played the most games ever in the Premiership and he's now chasing the top goalscorer in Livingston. Last year was a difficult season for him because I don't think it suited him how we played, playing against a low block."But coming up to the Premiership, he looks like a revitalised player."

Arsenal fans fume ‘transfer window is officially closed' as bit-part star is handed salary increase by Mikel Arteta

ARSENAL fans are furious after a shock transfer twist involving Leandro Trossard. Trossard, 30, has been linked with a move away from the Emirates during the summer transfer window. 3 3 Brentford, Aston Villa and clubs overseas have expressed an interest in the winger. But now a shocking report from Gunner Blog claims the Belgium international will sign a new deal with the Gunners. Trossard will have an increased salary but his contract will still run until 2027. That hasn't sat well with a section of the North Londoners' fanbase with the club needing to sell in order to add some more firepower in Mikel Arteta 's squad before transfer deadline day on September 1. Arsenal have been wanting to add a winger - with Real Madrid star Rodrygo strongly linked - but first need to raise funds. Should the likes of Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reiss Nelson exit for their market value, it could take the club's outgoings to well over £100million. But a new deal for the Belgian could end the Premier League runners-up's plans to sign a new left winger. And that hasn't sat well with Gooners, especially after Sunday's hapless performance at Old Trafford despite beating Manchester United 1-0. One fan tweeted: "Transfer window officially closed for the summer." Another commented: "I genuinely can't see how this makes any sense if you are trying to sell the player." Fans spot Arsenal star Leandro Trossard's 6-word comment about Michael Oliver to Wolves ace A third wrote: "This has to be a joke..." This fan said: "They watched our pre-season and the ManU match and this [is] what they decided." And that one posted: "The last hope is [a] revival of Gabriel Jesus at left wing." 3
