Chelsea loans defender Mamadou Sarr back to sister club Strasbourg for upcoming season
The French club confirmed the loan move on its website, having sold the highly rated Sarr to Chelsea in June.
Strasbourg is owned by the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that bought Chelsea in 2022.
The 19-year-old Sarr is a France under-20 international. He was a regular last season, playing 27 league games as Alsace-based Strasbourg finished in seventh place to seal a place in the Conference League playoffs. He previously played briefly for Lyon.
Chelsea won the Conference League last season and will play in the Champions League after finishing in fourth place in the Premier League.
Strasbourg was bought by Chelsea's ownership group, BlueCo, in 2023. Chelsea said Sarr had signed a contract until 2033 but didn't disclose the transfer fee.

Travis Kelce looking ahead after Super Bowl loss: ‘I've thrown that thing in the trash'
Shake it off Chiefs fans — Travis Kelce has. Entering his 13th NFL season, the future Hall of Famer knows all too well what it takes to win a Super Bowl, and sulking over last season's Super Bowl loss isn't going to fulfill the prophecy. It's August now, the cruel summer off from football is over and Kelce's looking to fill a blank space on his trophy shelf with a fourth Super Bowl win. Advertisement 3 Travis Kelce is entering his 13 NFL season and is seeking a fourth Super Bowl. AP 'I've thrown that thing in the trash,' Kelce said of the Chiefs' blowout Super Bowl loss in February, according to ESPN on Wednesday. 'I've moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.' Kansas City's loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX was an ugly one, as Philadelphia throttled the Chiefs en route to a 40-22 win, leading by 34-0 at one point. Advertisement 3 A dejected Travis Kelce looks on after the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIX loss. Getty Images The manhandling halted a Chiefs three-peat and sent retirement rumors swirling surrounding the 35-year-old Kelce. But clearly the tight end sees some fight left in him and his team as he elected to return and is reportedly in tip-top shape at training camp. 'He's svelte right now. He looks like he's 20,' Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said two weeks ago. 'He's doing a good job and he's in great shape. I'm not sure he didn't come in first on the whole conditioning thing. He was right up front. You can see he's been working out. He's worked hard to get to this spot.' Advertisement 3 Travis Kelce has impressed at training camp. AP And after an offseason of what surely had some luxurious vacationing with his girlfriend Taylor Swift, Kelce is happy to be back on Missouri Western State University's campus where players stay through training camp. 'I love it here,' Kelce said. 'It gets me away from everything else that's going on in this crazy world. You can really just focus in on your craft and focus in on being the best you can for the guys around you, man. 'Football has always been the biggest driving force I've ever had. I love coming out here and focusing on this and getting better for another run at hopefully a Super Bowl.'

Marcus Rashford remains confident in Barcelona's player registration plan
Marcus Rashford remains confident in Barcelona's player registration plan originally appeared on The Sporting News FC Barcelona remain in the midst of a financial crisis, which has significantly impacted their transfer strategy over the past few seasons. And just like in recent years, they head into the 2025-26 campaign with issues revolving around player registration. Last season, it was Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor who were given temporary permits to play in La Liga through the month of December before the Consejo Superior de Deportes approved both players' registrations for the remainder of the campaign. This year, the club still need to register five players for the upcoming season before the Sept. 1 deadline. Among those players — a list that includes two contributors from last year (Gerard Martín and Wojciech Szczęsny) and two new signings (Joan García from RCD Espanyol and Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen) — is Marcus Rashford, Barcelona's highest-profile addition this summer. Despite the recent troubles Barcelona have experienced with player registration, Rashford told reporters he is not worried about missing La Liga games because of it. "It's something for the club to sort out," Rashford said in a video posted on Spanish newspaper Sport's website on Aug. 3. "I believe they are going to get it sorted. I just focus on training and be ready for the start of the season." Rashford, who is still under contract at parent club Manchester United, made his move to Barcelona official on July 23. It marked his second loan stint of the year, as the Red Devils sent Rashford on loan to Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2024-25 Premier League season in early February. This time around, he will be with Barcelona for the full 2025-26 campaign. Soon after his loan went official, Rashford joined the squad on its Asia Tour. He made his debut for the Blaugrana in a 45-minute stint against FC Seoul on July 31 and then scored his first goal against Daegu FC four days later. Barcelona still have one more match on their summer calendar — a Joan Gamper Trophy exhibition match against Como. But after weeks of preseason training and friendlies, Rashford is excited for the season to come. "It's been a good preseason. It's been good to integrate into the team. I've enjoyed getting used to the team, used to the coach," Rashford said, via ESPN's Adriana Garcia. "There is a lot of great players, but I knew that before I came here. The quality is very high, the intensity is very high, and this is what we need to continue having throughout the season. "Hopefully, we can go one step further than last season and win the Champions League."
