Jordan Johnson-Doyle: Body found in search for British backpacker who went missing in Malaysia
A British backpacker who was missing for over a week has been found dead at the bottom of a lift shaft in Malaysia, police have said.
Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, vanished after last being seen at a bar in Kuala Lumpur on 27 May.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that his body was identified by a relative based on a body tattoo, according to local news website FMT.
The software engineer, from Southport, had spent the past 18 months travelling around across Asia while working remotely for a US company, his mum said.
His mother, Leanne Burnett, told the Liverpool Echo that her son's last known location was Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
He is believed to have then visited a nearby bar called The Social.
She alerted authorities last Friday because she hadn't heard from him in three days.
An appeal on social media read: "My son is missing in Kuala Lumpur.
"Please help us find him, all his family and friends are so worried. Please please share share share."
This week his family flew out to Malaysia to help local officials with the search.
But his body was found in a construction site lift shaft in Bangsar, a suburb of the Malaysian capital, on Wednesday, authorities said.
A post mortem found the cause of death was a chest injury due to a fall from height. Kuala Lumpur police said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The police chief said in a statement to MalaysiaToday: 'It is hereby confirmed that the body found is that of Jordan Johnson-Doyle who was reported missing on 2 June.
'The cause of death is that of chest injury due to fall from height following an autopsy conducted earlier.
'No criminal elements were found at the scene. The case is classified as a sudden death report.'
An FCDO spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Malaysia and are in contact with the local authorities.'
The family previously spoke of their agony during the search.
Ms Burnett told the Liverpool Echo: 'I have been been feeling just sick, numb. I just want to get over there, find him and bring him home.
'I want him to know we're looking for him and we're coming to get him.'

The sleepy neighbourhood has a population of about 1,100 people. The teenager had been living in a derelict pad - which had a foul smell and was very noisy according to neighbours. She lived there with two housemates: James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33. On the day she went missing, Pheobe was meant to board a flight to see her boyfriend in Western Australia. Her housemates drove her to Bundaberg airport, but police said CCTV there never even saw her enter the terminal and she never actually checked in. She was on her way to Perth to visit her "high-school sweetheart" boyfriend. Pheobe reportedly made a last minute call to him at 8:30am mere moments before she was set to get on the flight to Western Australia. A family member said: "She didn't check in for her flight to visit her boyfriend who she spoke to on the phone at 8.30am." According to the Daily Mail, Wood said the couple had an explosive argument in the car with Pheobe over whether she could do her makeup before arriving at the airport. He said they pulled over just under a kilometre from their destination. Wood and Bromley then allegedly walked off and were away from Pheobe and the car for five minutes, according to the 34-year-old. A missing person's report was issued for her one day later on May 16. Her worried sick sister, Kaylea Bishop, sent Wood and Bromley a simple text, demanding to know the whereabouts of her sibling. She said: "Where is my sister?" On the following weekend, her desperate mum Kylie Johnson made emotional pleas for anyone with information to come forward. By May 18, over 400 missing person posters with Pheobe's photo had been plastered across the Wide Bay region. The next week, on Monday May 19, police launched their search for Pheobe. It covered land along Bundaberg's Airport Drive and the surrounding areas. 16 16 16 16 But mysteriously, police didn't find any sign of the teen or her belongings. Police, along with Pheobe's mum, described her disappearance as out of character on May 20. They also asked the public for information about the 2011 grey Hyundai ix35 hatch, owned by Bromley, that had been seen around Airport Drive at the time of Pheoebe's disappearance. The next day, police updated the case and said they were treating Pheobe's disappearance as a suspicious. They also declared two crime scenes - one being the run-down home she was living at, and the other being the infamous Hyundai she was driven to the airport in. After inspecting the foul-smelling home, police found four dead dogs rotting inside. But it was later understood that these four pups died of natural causes. Airport Drive, Samuels Road and Gin Gin were also named as locations of interest. On May 22, Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson stressed the importance of public information. In a chilling plea, he said: "People don't vanish." 16 16 16 The day after that, police revealed they were searching through bushland and waterways at Good Night Scrub National Park, near to where Pheobe was last seen. This scan went on for the next two days, during which police dogs joined the hunt. On May 25 Bromley was arrested in a major twist after police allegedly found weapons in her silver Hyundai. On May 26, the search area was expanded - before cops made a harrowing revelation. They believed evidence had been moved from the Good Night Scrub area before they arrived there. And on this same day, a new number plate was discovered to have been suspiciously painted and taped over the notorious Hyundai's original plate. The gruelling search effort in Good Night Scrub National Park then continued from May 27 for five more days. Disturbingly, the search appeared to lose hope as police said they would no longer be doing any more physical scans for Pheobe on Wednesday, June 4. They said they would restart any searches only when they had relevant information. But in a dramatic twist on the very same day - Pheobe's housemate Wood was arrested. 16 However, no charges were made and he was released a day later on June 5. And in yet another turn in the tale - Wood and Bromley were then both arrested and charged with murder on the same day Wood was released - exactly three weeks after Pheobe went missing. They were each charged with one count of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse. Shocking footage released on Friday showed the moment police arrested Wood and escorted him out of an RV for the "homicide of Pheobe Bishop". Both Wood and Bromley appeared at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday morning. Outside the building, Pheobe's heartbroken sister Kaylea Bishop said her sibling was 'loved and missed' dearly. Kaylea and Pheobe had a close relationship and were planning to move in together last year. And in the latest heartbreaking update, human remains were found during a search for Pheobe. They are yet to be identified, but police have spoken to Pheobe's family regarding the harrowing discovery. The body was found close to Good Night Scrub National Park, near Gin Gin, on Friday, June 6 at around 2:30pm. 16 Pheobe's mum then made a heartbreaking statement. She said: "I didn't think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid but this. "This is ripping me apart." Pheobe had previously said online that she wasn't living with her mum, and that she had been "in and out" of home for years. Cops are now set to allege that Wood, Bromley and Pheobe were all in the car when it arrived at Airport Drive near Bundaberg Airport in the morning of May 15. They believe that the trio never actually left the car. Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said: "Our evidence will outline the fact that three people arrived near to the airport, and three people never exited that vehicle." Wood and Bromley will appear in court on August 11.

Body found in search for missing Scots teen Cole Cooper four weeks after disappearance
A BODY has been found in the search for missing teenager Cole Cooper. The 19-year-old has been missing for four weeks after disappearing from Banknock, near Falkirk, at the start of last month. 4 4 4 4 Tragically, a body was found earlier this afternoon in the woods in Banknock. The devastating discovery was made near Kilsyth Road in the village. A formal identification is yet to be made but Cole's family has been informed. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.15pm on Friday, 6 June, 2025, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Banknock. "Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing man Cole Cooper, 19, has been informed. "Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances." Police say the last sighting of Cole was when he asked an old schoolfriend for a lift on May 7 at the A803 intersection with Cumbernauld Road in Longcroft. A major search was launched to find Cole, with specialist units, drones, divers and helicopters all called in. Dedicated officers were assigned to lead the hunt for Cole as his devastated family pled for answers. Earlier today cops revealed they had scoured over 2,000 hours of CCTV to find him. Hundreds of volunteers had even came out to help the family search the area where he went missing. A volunteer search was due to take place this weekend. The body of a man has been found in a hunt for a missing 19-year-old who disappeared nearly a month ago after a house party. Police scoured 2,000 hours of CCTV and spoke to 400 people as part of the investigation and confirmed the discovery this evening. The corpse was sighted in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Scotland at around 4.15pm. A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing man Cole Cooper, 19, has been informed. 'Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.' Cole Cooper was reported missing on May 9 prompting a major search operation involving helicopters, divers and financial investigators. He was last seen by his family on May 2 or 3 and was captured on CCTV at about 6am on May 4 in Longcroft, Falkirk, as he tried to access his father's house unsuccessfully. The final sighting of Mr Cooper was at 8.45pm on May 7, on the A803 at the intersection with Cumbernauld Road, Longcroft, when he asked a school friend for a lift - which was not given. Since then, almost 400 residents have been spoken to during door-to-door inquiries and more than 2,000 hours of CCTV seized, according to Police Scotland. The missing man is described as about 5ft 10ins, of medium build with brown short hair, and was last seen wearing a black puffer-style jacket with black jogging bottoms. His disappearance has been described as 'completely out of character' and Mr Cooper's family are said to be devastated. A portal has been set up for the public to share footage, images and possible lines of inquiry, with detectives saying they have received 'numerous' submissions. Officers previously reported the investigation was being treated as a missing person's inquiry rather than a criminal probe. On May 28, detectives said the examination of more than 1,000 hours of CCTV had taken place along with door-to-door inquiries at more than 220 homes. Around a week later, the hours of CCTV examined had increased to more than 2,000. Chief Inspector Alex Hatrick, the local area commander, said: 'Our priority remains tracing Cole and getting answers for his family on his whereabouts. 'We have a dedicated team, including specialist officers and national resources, following all lines of inquiry. 'Specialist search teams as well as the air support and dive and marine units have been searching Longcroft and the surrounding area. 'I would like to thank the public for the support they've shown for this investigation and all the information provided to police. It shows the community is as committed to finding Cole as we are.' In a heartfelt plea last week, Mr Cooper's mother Wendy Stewart begged her son to 'come home'. She said: 'I love and miss you so so so much. Where are you son? My heart is breaking I just want a big cuddle from you son.' The worried mother also posted a touching video of Mr Cooper singing into a microphone and dancing with her, with the caption 'Please help get my gorgeous, kind loving boy back to me'. Officers will be revisiting the locations where Mr Cooper was last spotted around the same time on June 8 and June 11 in an effort to trace anyone who may have seen him but has yet to speak to police. Mr Hatrick added: 'Officers will be revisiting the Glasgow Road and Cumbernauld Road areas around the same time as the last sightings to ensure we've spoken to as many people as possible who may have information which could help. 'I continue to urge anyone with information on Mr Cooper's movements or whereabouts to come forward. 'No matter how significant you believe that information is, it could prove vital.'
