Pahalgam attack: House of 5 terrorists razed by security forces in J&K
The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday demolished the house of several terrorists in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people.
The house of Shahid Ahmed Kuttey was demolished in Shopian's Chotipora village by the security forces.
The law enforcement authorities razed the homes of three terrorists on Friday night, one each in Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama.

On Friday, the houses of two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists were demolished.
Officials said that they were conducting searches inside the houses of two LeT terrorists Adil Hussain Thoker and Asif Sheikh, when the explosives already kept inside the houses went off.
Adil had illegally travelled to Pakistan in 2018, where he reportedly received terror training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir last year.

The house of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Haris Ahmad, who was active since 2023, was destroyed in a blast in the Kachipora area of Pulwama. The security forces also demolished the house of Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh, who was trained in Pakistan in 2018 and re-entered the Kashmir Valley.
On Friday, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in his first visit to the Union territory since the Pahalgam attack.
He was also briefed on the actions being taken by the formations against terrorists inside their territory and the Pakistan Army's attempts to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control.
Since the terror attack, there has been an increase in ceasefire violations by Pakistan, to which the Indian forces have given a befitting reply.
According to the officials, multiple Pakistan Army posts carried out firing on the intervening night of April 25 and 26, which led to Indian troops retaliating with small arms. No casualties have been reported.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan: No unholy ties or understanding by LDF
MALAPPURAM: Attacking the Jamaat-e-Islami-UDF relationship, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday accused the UDF of allying with those who have alienated a large section of society. At a public meeting held in Chungathara as part of the Nilambur by-election campaign, Pinarayi asked the Muslim League leaders to recall what Panakkad Thangal did when they were invited for the inauguration of Jamaat-e-Islami's newspaper and channel. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan accused the chief minister of openly promoting communalism. Satheesan pointed out that Pinarayi was the leader who had earlier held a press conference praising Jamaat-e-Islami. 'The chief minister changes his colour like a chameleon. No chief minister has ever changed their statements like this. Two CPM MPs won with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami,' the Congress leader alleged. Satheesan also clarified that the UDF has taken a unanimous decision to accept Jamaat support.

Congress in damage control mode over Satheesan's Jamaat remarks
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As leader of opposition V D Satheesan's attempt to 'whitewash' Jamaat-e-Islami, backfired politically in Nilambur, the Congress has started damage control efforts. KPCC president Sunny Joseph has met powerful Muslim and Christian leaders in this regard. The move comes days before the visit of Congress general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi to Nilambur which is part of her LS constituency. Sunny Joseph, who is close to Thamarassery Bishop Remigiose Inchananiyil, met the latter on Friday. The meeting came after the Catholic Congress under the powerful Thamarassery Diocese issued a strong statement against Congress - Welfare Party tie-up. The KPCC chief reportedly clarified the party's stand to the bishop. He also sought the Church's support. According to sources close to the Church, Sunny Joseph held talks with Catholic Congress leaders. The KPCC president also met Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, the president of Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulama, on Thursday. There is criticism among UDF partners that the opposition leader's 'certificate' to the Jamaat-e-Islami was an unwanted one. They are of the view that it gave both the CPM and BJP a political weapon which could have a far-reaching effect even in national politics. The party has decided to focus on the governance of the LDF government. There is also apprehension that though Venugopal's attack against CM's alleged anti- Malappuram remark was a success, the Jamaat controversy spoiled the edge. 'There are chances that the RSS -BJP may use the Jamaat controversy against the Gandhi family and the Congress in north India,' a senior Congress leader told TNIE. 'As state assembly elections are approaching, we do not want any kind of political debate on that,' he said.
