PEOPLE confirmed Gates' romance with Hurd in Feb. 2023Bill Gates is celebrating love in Italy with his girlfriend, Paula Hurd.
On Thursday, June 26, the Microsoft co-founder was spotted with his girlfriend in Venice attending the wedding welcome party for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his bride-to-be Lauren Sánchez. The event is taking place at a closed cloister adjacent to the Madonna dell'Orto church.
Gates, who was spotted at the Venice Marco Polo Airport earlier in the day, was dressed in a classic black suit with a white button-up shirt.

Hurd matched his look in a black off-the-shoulder dress. She paired her outfit with a sparkling necklace and stud earrings.
Other celebrities spotted attending the welcome party include Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Kris Jenner and boyfriend Corey Gamble, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King.
News of Gates and Hurd's romance came in February 2023, nearly two years after Gates and ex-wife Melinda French Gates announced they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage in May 2021.
A source told PEOPLE at the time Gates and Hurd's relationship was made public that, "It's widely known that Bill Gates and Paula Hurd are dating, but she hasn't met his kids yet."
Confirmation of their romance came after the couple was spotted at several sporting events together months prior, including the Laver Cup in September 2022 and the Australian Open in January 2023.
They also attended Bezos and Sánchez's engagement party in August 2023, which took place aboard the Bezos' yacht on Italy's Amalfi Coast.
Gates and Hurd made their red carpet debut at the 10th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in April 2024.
In February 2025, Gates spoke out about their romance for the first time on the Today show, telling Savannah Guthrie, "I'm lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula."
"We're having fun. Going to the Olympics and lots of great things," he added.
Gates also gave Hurd a shout-out at the end of his debut memoir, Source Code: My Beginnings, even though the book takes place decades before their romance began.

The first reference to 'the orange menace' occurs roughly 30 minutes into this hourlong monologue, which unpacks O'Donnell's decision to emigrate from New York to Dublin for the sake of her autistic and nonbinary child, Clay. There are some fun fish-out-of-water antics as O'Donnell acclimatizes to Irish social mores. She misinterprets her pharmacist's friendliness as romantic interest, and asks her out. (The pharmacist is straight, and married.) The show ends on an uplifting note as O'Donnell recalls going on an Irish talk show to discuss autism and coming home to find an autistic local boy on her doorstep, asking to be friends. ‘Fallout' Season 2 Is Releasing On Prime Video Sooner Than Expected
I've played the Fallout video game series but I wouldn't call myself a superfan. I enjoy the world of these post-apocalyptic stories. The retrofuturistic dystopia. The charming wasteland with its bright, twisted sense of humor. I've always enjoyed the tone and the story more than the actual gameplay. As with many Bethesda games, I find the combat lackluster and the open worlds eventually become tedious. This is probably why I never went super far down the Fallout lore rabbit hole. And that's probably also why I wasn't bothered by some of the changes and tweaks Amazon made in the first season of its adaptation, which I adored. A lot of fans were upset by the show because of various canonical discrepancies and I totally understand that. I just personally wasn't bothered by any of it, likely because I've never been that invested in this universe. Season 1 of Fallout introduces us to the wasteland and its inhabitants, including the plucky Vault Dweller, Lucy (Ella Purnell), the rather green squire, Maximus (Aaron Moten) of the Brotherhood of Steel and the deformed, long-lived bounty hunter known only as the Ghoul (Walton Goggins). The first season sets up a compelling mystery with some fun twists and turns, leading us down a path of revelation and horror. We learn some surprising truths about the nature of Lucy's reality and the origins of the nuclear apocalypse, the mysterious Vaults and the Ghoul's backstory in a different era. The whole thing leads to a conclusion that had many fans incredibly excited for a potential second season taking place in New Vegas (the location of the aptly titled video game, Fallout: New Vegas). This was back in spring of 2024. All of Season 1's episodes dropped on April 10th last year (Amazon should have released it weekly but oh well) to critical acclaim and mostly positive feedback from all but the most diehard fans. Now, Season 2 is just around the corner. Amazon hasn't said what the release schedule will be this time around, but the show is set to drop in December. That's less than two years since Season 1 came out, which is a much better gap than a lot of TV shows these days. Ian McKellen Teases Gandalf and Frodo's Return in Andy Serkis' New LORD OF THE RINGS Movie — GeekTyrant
There's magic in the air again with Warner Bros. developing several new film projects set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. While Ian McKellen isn't officially signed on to reprise his role as Gandalf yet, that didn't stop him from dropping some interesting hints about The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum during a fan event in London. At the For The Love Of Fantasy convention, McKellen was joined onstage by his Fellowship brothers Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan. And in classic McKellen fashion, he stirred up excitement by revealing that both Gandalf and Frodo are set to appear in the upcoming film, which will be directed by Andy Serkis aka Gollum. McKellen said to the crowd: 'I hear there's going to be another movie set in Middle-earth, and it's going to start filming in May. It's going to be directed by Gollum, and it's all about Gollum.' He then added: 'I'll tell you two secrets about the casting: There's a character in the movie called Frodo, and there's a character in the movie called Gandalf. Apart from that, my lips are sealed.' The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 17, 2027, but neither McKellen nor Wood have confirmed their involvement, though McKellen has long been open to donning the wizard's hat once more. McKellen previously said: 'Enthusiasm for The Lord of the Rings shows no sign of abating … I can't tell you any more than that. I've just been told there are going to be more films and Gandalf will be involved and they hope that I'll be playing him.' Backing the project is the powerhouse team behind the original trilogy including Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens returning as producers, with Zane Weiner also on board. The screenplay is being penned by Walsh and Boyens alongside Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. With filming set to begin in May, fans can expect to learn more soon. Until then, the return of Gandalf and Frodo is more than enough to stoke the fires of of excitement and anticipation. And yes, McKellen even revisited one of his most iconic lines from The Fellowship of the Ring during the event, because what's a Gandalf tease without a bit of nostalgia?
