Beginning her career with a modest payment of just Rs 10 for her first film, Jaya Prada went on to become a formidable contemporary to Sridevi, one of Indian cinema's leading actresses. Over the years, she shared the screen with numerous superstars and earned acclaim for her performances across a wide range of Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Marathi. Her versatility and screen presence established her as a uniquely celebrated figure in Indian cinema.
Jaya Prada has acted in over 300 films spanning multiple industries. She made her debut in the 1974 Telugu film Bhoomi Kosam, in a small role for which she was reportedly paid Rs 10. From these humble beginnings, she rose to become one of the highest-paid actresses of her time.

Some of her most acclaimed films include Sargam (1979), Urikki Monagadu (1981), Kaamchor (1982), Kavirathna Kalidasa (1983), Sagara Sangamam (1983), Tohfa (1984), Sharabi (1984), Maqsad (1984), Sanjog (1985), Aag Hi Aag (1986), Aakhree Raasta (1986), Simhasanam (1986), Sindoor (1987), Samsaram (1988), Elaan-E-Jung (1989), Aaj Ka Arjun (1990), Thanedaar (1990), Maa (1991), and Habba (1999).
In Tamil cinema, she starred opposite Kamal Haasan in Manmatha Leelai (1976) and Salangai Oli (1983), and appeared in Ninaithale Inikkum (1979), which featured both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. She was also seen in Kamal Haasan's 2008 film Dasavatharam. Throughout her career, she worked with iconic actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan, and many others.
Interestingly, Jaya Prada never initially intended to enter the film industry; her early ambition was to pursue a career in medicine. She later married film producer Srikanth Nahata, who was already married to Chandra and had two children.
For over three decades, Jaya Prada and Sridevi were known to share a fierce professional rivalry. Although they co-starred in the film Maqsad, it is widely believed that they kept their distance off-screen.

Coolie vs War 2 box office day 7: Rajinikanth or Hrithik Roshan - Whose film is a hit and who's flop? Check shocking collection reports

Coolie vs War 2 Box Office Day 7: Rajinikanth's Coolie and Hrithik Roshan's War 2 are giving tough competition to each other at the box office. Both films were released on the same day, i.e., August 14. However, Rajinikanth has asserted his stardom by taking the lead. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie boasts an ensemble cast featuring superstars like Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. On the other hand, the inclusion of South star Jr. NTR as the antagonist is a major highlight of Ayan Mukerji's War 2. Let's take a look at how much both films have earned so far. Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7 According to movie trade website Sacnilk , the film earned Rs 220 crore on its seventh day at the box office. Coolie's earnings began to decline starting from the first Monday, after enjoying a strong run during the long Independence Day weekend. Despite the dip, Coolie remains the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025 so far. According to a report by Sacnilk , War 2 earned Rs 3.49 crore across all languages on its seventh day – marking its lowest box office collection to date. As of August 20, the film has earned approximately Rs 196.99 crore. Coolie stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, with Nagarjuna playing the main villain, Simon. Speaking about the film's success, Nagarjuna said that breaking records was inevitable and described Coolie as a 'celebration of heritage and reinvention.' Aamir Khan appears in a surprise role, while the film also features Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir. This clearly indicates that Coolie is a definite hit, while War 2 may not be a flop, but it certainly lags behind Rajinikanth's film in terms of performance. STORY HIGHLIGHTS: There's a tough competition between Coolie and War 2 The box office collection of Coolie is more than War 2 Coolie has surpassed War 2 , earned Rs 220 crore in India While Coolie has proven to be a definite hit, War 2 earned Rs 196 crore on day 7.

Anurag Kashyap blasts Chiranjeevi Hanuman producer over AI film, 'You should be in gutter'

In a bold critique that has stirred the Indian film industry, acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has openly condemned the upcoming AI-generated film Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal. Scheduled for release on Hanuman Jayanti 2026, this project is being promoted as entirely 'Made-in-AI' and 'Made in India.' Kashyap's sharp rebuke is directed at producer Vijay Subramaniam, who also leads the Collective Artists Network, an agency representing creative professionals. What did Anurag Kashyap say? Kashyap expressed his disapproval on social media, highlighting the contradiction of Subramaniam producing an AI-driven film while heading an artists' agency. He accused Subramaniam of prioritizing profit over the interests of human creators, stating, 'Any actor or anyone who calls themselves artists and has a spine will be and should be either questioning him or leaving the agency.' Kashyap further criticized the move as emblematic of a trend where agencies are more interested in monetizing AI than supporting genuine artistic talent. He concluded while saying, 'Well done Vijay Subramaniam. Shame is not enough, you should be in the gutter for this'. Vikramaditya Motwane on the use of AI The controversy has sparked broader debate within the industry about role of AI in filmmaking. Director and close aide of Anurag, Vikramaditya Motwane, also voiced concern, sharing film's announcement with the caption, 'And so it begins… Who TF needs writers and directors when it's 'Made in AI'?' This sentiment reflects growing unease about AI potentially displacing human creativity in cinema. Dhanush on the AI-generated ending of Raanjhanaa This incident is part of a larger conversation about AI's impact on the film industry. Previously, the re-release of Raanjhanaa as Ambikapathy in Tamil with an AI-generated alternate ending without the original director's consent raised ethical questions about artistic integrity. Filmmakers like Zoya Akhtar and Om Raut have expressed concerns about altering creative works without the creators' approval, emphasizing the importance of preserving the original vision. Story Highlights Anurag Kashyap criticizes the AI-generated film Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, calling out producer Vijay Subramaniam for undermining human creators. The controversy has ignited a debate about AI's role in filmmaking and its potential to displace human creativity. Other industry figures, including Vikramaditya Motwane, have expressed concern over the increasing reliance on AI in creative processes. The controversy ties into broader concerns about AI in cinema, as seen with Dhanush's Ambikapathy's AI-altered re-release.
