Three arrested in St. John Parish drug bust
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, the arrests came following a months-long investigation, and particularly the investigation into one of the suspects, identified as 43-year-old Amandzo Williams, beginning back in late April.
That investigation led to search warrants being executed on two homes in LaPlace, one in the 1100 block of Heather Lane and the other in the 100 block of Apricot Street, resulting in the arrests of three suspects, identified as Amandzo, 55-year-old Grant Williams and 42-year-old Namoel Richardson.

Investigators also say that during the searches, the following items were seized: two firearms, around 100 grams of crack cocaine, around 1100 methamphetamine tablets, around 700 grams of marijuana and over $6,500 in cash.
The suspects have been booked on the following charges:
Amandzo, held on a $176,500 bond:
Possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
Possession of a firearm with a CDS.
Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity.
Grant, held on a $201,500 bond:
Possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Possession of a firearm with a CDS.
Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity.
Richardson, held on a $6,500 bond:
Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Four firefighters, two civilians injured in Jefferson Parish fire
METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — An infant is among six people who were injured in an apartment building fire in Metairie on Tuesday afternoon. Some firefighters also needed to be treated. Jefferson Parish Fire Chief Charles Hudson said firefighters arrived at the scene around 5:05 p.m., where they found heavy fire coming from the second floor of the building. Several people were trapped. 'There's one adult that was taken to university with heavy burns, and an infant was brought to children's hospital with heavy burns,' Hudson said. Man dies in Montegut house fire Christon Morgan, who lived on the first floor of the building, said that he was driving home from work when he saw his home on fire. 'I thought the gas station was on fire at first because I couldn't see the apartment from behind the gas station. So, once I made it to the corner, I noticed that our apartment was on fire,' Morgan said. Morgan says, during the fire, the injured man was seen hanging from the balcony and eventually collapsed on the street. He says that scene is something he will never forget. Other than the infant and the adult resident, four firefighters were taken away by ambulance to be treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. Hudson says that, due to their hard work and the civilian heroes who helped them, the remaining occupants of the complex were able to escape with little to no harm. Heat Advisory returns plus an Extreme Heat Warning starts off the new week!
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – As if Sunday wasn't hot enough, gear up for a toasty start to the new week. Sunday's Heat Advisory ended at 8 p.m. leading to a brief 'cool down' through the overnight, But it'll warm up pretty fast early on come Monday eventually getting up to 96-degrees with mostly sunny skies and a few scattered showers in the forecast. Another Heat Advisory will be in effect for your Monday starting at 10 a.m. and running until 8 p.m. There will also be an Extreme Heat Warning in effect starting at 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Monday for the following areas: St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Charles, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Jefferson, and Plaquemines parishes in addition to Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties. When you put the forecasted temperatures together with the expected 'very humid' conditions, we will surely have Heat Index values nearing or even surpassing the 110-mark. I may sound like a broken record at this point because I can't stress the importance of heat safety and the following simple tips: (a) stay hydrated, (b) limit your time outdoors especially during the peak hours of the day and (c) check-in on family and friends who don't particularly do well in the dangerous heat.
