Puado penalty helps Espanyol hold Atletico 1-1
BARCELONA, Spain, March 29 (Reuters) - Captain Javi Puado scored from the penalty spot to cancel out a first-half strike by Cesar Azpilicueta as relegation-threatened Espanyol held third-placed Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw in LaLiga on Saturday.
Marash Kumbulla's headed attempt to clear Antoine Griezmann's cross reached Azpilicueta, whose calm right-footed shot from outside the box found the net in the 38th minute.

However, Clement Lenglet's foul on Leandro Cabrera near the edge of the box awarded 15th-placed Espanyol a chance to make a comeback, and Puado made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it even in the 71st minute and earn a precious point.
Atletico, winless in three matches, moved to 57 points, six below leaders Barcelona, who have a game in hand. Espanyol, who have 29 points, are two points above the relegation zone.

Arsenal star taken aback by team-mate's 'zero f**** given' act before £50m move
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has lifted the lid on how an audacious move by one of his team-mates left him surprised before they sealed a big money transfer move abroad Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has backed his Spain team-mate Dean Huijsen to be a big success at Real Madrid. The defender's departure from Bournemouth was confirmed last month after the La Liga side met his £50million release clause. Huijsen joined the Cherries from Juventus last summer and quickly made his name as one of the Premier League 's best defenders. The 20-year-old attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal as the season drew to a close. However, he ultimately chose to join Los Blancos on a five-year deal and could make his debut during this summer's Club World Cup tournament. Huijsen earned his first cap for the Spanish national team in a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in March. One moment in particular caught Raya's eye from the bench during that game as the centre-back attempted an audacious long-range effort at goal. And the Gunners' shot-stopper told former Manchester United and Wrexham keeper Ben Foster that Huijsen's confidence is a good sign that he will succeed in Madrid. Speaking on the Fozcast podcast, Raya said: "He's good to go. You know why? Can I swear here? He has zero f***s given. That's how you interpret him, in a good way. He made his debut for Spain back in March and what 19-year-old centre-back has a shot from 30 yards out on his weak foot? "I swear, he just had a shot from 30 yards out on his left foot on his debut. I don't know how young players do this stuff so naturally nowadays. When I was 17 or 18 and training with the first team, you were so quiet and not doing anything." Huijsen recently revealed that he initially planned to spend two years at Bournemouth but things moved "very quickly". He also opened up about how he wants to emulate the career of Madrid legend Sergio Ramos. He told AS: "I may be [the happiest man in the world ], really, although my father is probably even happier. My plan was to spend two years at Bournemouth, grow, and then figure out what to do next. But things have moved very quickly, faster than I expected. "I try and aspire to be like Sergio Ramos, he's my idol. For me, he's very complete, he had everything. In terms of leadership, goalscoring, personality, character." Huijsen said he's already spoken to Real's new coach Xabi Alonso, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti after Los Blancos finished their season without a major trophy. "We've talked a bit about the team and what he has in mind, and about the project," he said. "Of course, we want to win things again, and I'm sure we will... I don't think it's sunk in yet. But I'm here at Madrid, and I'll try to do my best." He added: "I want to play with the best. [Kylian] Mbappé, Vinícius [Júnior], Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham, all those in attack - they're some of the best there is." Unions file complaint over Saudi Arabia's treatment of migrant workers
GENEVA, June 4 (Reuters) - The International Trade Union Confederation and its sister African organisation filed a formal complaint on Wednesday urging the International Labour Organization to investigate Saudi Arabia's labour practices. It raised concerns about mistreatment of migrant construction and domestic workers as the 2034 soccer World Cup looms on the horizon, citing examples of workers being forced to work up to 20 hours a day, denied wages and subjected to beatings. Human rights groups have strongly criticised FIFA's decision to award Saudi Arabia the 2034 World Cup as the kingdom does not have a minimum wage for migrant workers and also enforces the "kafala" system that binds them to a specific employer for the duration of their residence in the country. FIFA and Saudi Arabia's communications office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Saudi Arabia has previously denied accusations of human rights abuses. "Workers are being treated as disposable in Saudi Arabia. They leave alive and return in coffins," Joel Odigie, General Secretary of ITUC-Africa, said in a statement. ITUC said it had asked the ILO to investigate because it had not seen improvements in workers rights after having tried to engage with the Saudi government. The ILO, the United Nations body that sets international labour standards, told Reuters its governing body would consider the complaint lodged against Saudi Arabia in November. In 2024 the Saudi government announced an expatriate insurance policy to protect workers if their employer defaults on salary payments. In 2021 it amended the kafala system by allowing some migrant workers to leave the country without their employer's permission. Neighbouring Qatar came under similar ITUC criticism ahead of hosting the 2022 World Cup. The ITUC later praised Qatar for introducing labour reforms, though more recently it has raised concerns that they had not been fully implemented.

Fabregas shuts down Inter speculation and vows to continue at Como
June 4 (Reuters) - Cesc Fabregas pledged his immediate managerial future to Como on Wednesday amid increasing speculation that the Spaniard is the main target for Inter Milan to replace the recently departed Simone Inzaghi. Fabregas -- former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder -- has attracted the attention of several top clubs after leading promoted Como to a 10th place finish in Serie A last season. Fabregas is also a shareholder in the club where he ended his playing career. "I really believe in Como's long-term project, I arrived here as a player and I'm very, very happy because I can work here the way I want," Fabregas said at the SXSW (South By Southwest) conference in London. Italian media said that Inter want to speak to Fabregas after Inzaghi left by mutual agreement on Tuesday, days after their 5-0 defeat by Paris St Germain in the Champions League final, and with the Club World Cup less than two weeks away.
