Berri meets US Envoys Barrack, Ortagus, British Ambassador
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed at the second presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh, US Envoy Thomas Barrack, former Deputy US Envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, and Speaker Berri's Media Advisor Ali Hamdan. The meeting, which lasted more than an hour, addressed political and field developments in Lebanon and the region. Speaker Berri asked the US envoy about Israel's commitment to the ceasefire agreement and its withdrawal from Lebanese territory to the internationally recognized borders, stressing that "this is the gateway to stability in Lebanon and an opportunity to begin the reconstruction process in preparation for the return of residents to their towns, in addition to securing the necessary support for the Lebanese army." US Envoy Barrack, in turn, affirmed following his meeting with Speaker Berri, that 'the key objective is achieving prosperity and comprehensive peace for all communities and peoples.' He noted that 'we are all moving in the right direction.' On the other hand, Speaker Berri met with British Ambassador to Lebanon,Hamish Cowell, with whom he discussed the latest developments and the bilateral relations between Lebanon and the United Kingdom. Separately, Berri met with Minister of Telecommunications Charles Hajj, over the general situation and matters related to the telecommunications sector.

Bassil reveals he submitted a ‘black file' on telecommunications to Parliament
Lebanese MP Gebran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), revealed on Saturday via his X account that he had presented last week to the parliamentary inquiry commission overseeing the telecommunications dossier a 'black file' related to the sector, stating that he 'had already submitted it to the competent judicial authorities back in 2009.' He added that 'the file has received no follow-up, despite our repeated calls.' 'This file contains violations and evidence of more than one billion dollars in waste, and it is accompanied by official documents and proof,' he continued. He expressed hope that 'the parliamentary inquiry commission will take charge of this file in accordance with its prerogatives.' Last July, Lebanese MPs referred three former Ministers of Telecommunications to a parliamentary inquiry commission, accused of squandering public funds, in a case that first emerged in 2019 during the widespread protest movement. One of the three former ministers, current MP Nicolas Sehnaoui, is a close ally of Bassil, while the other two are Jamal Jarrah and Boutros Harb. Interpol puts Lebanese man wanted by Angola on red notice
Interpol put a 53-year-old Lebanese man named Mohamed Lakkis, wanted by Angolan authorities for murder, on red notice on Monday. According to information published by two Angolan media outlets, Novo Jornal and Imparcial Press, a man named Mohamed Lakkis, of a similar age, is accused of killing a woman in her thirties, Anabela Marques Barbosa, bribing a judge, and being involved in a corruption case linked to the decision of his release. Interpol red notices alert police authorities worldwide about wanted individuals, especially those who have taken refuge in another country. Interpol as an organization has 196 member states and functions as a facilitator among its members' police forces. There are currently 11 people of Lebanese nationality on Interpol's red notice, wanted by a range of countries for charges including drug trafficking, terrorism, sexual assault and corruption. Among them is former BDL governor Riad Salameh. The red notice for Lakkis contains scant details, mentioning only his nationality and the charge of murder. The judge mentioned in the Angolan reports publicly defended himself, claiming to have committed no wrongdoing and stating that he had forbidden Lakkis from leaving the country. The Imparcial Press article specifies that the man is a diamond dealer, citing traces of information found online. Novo Jornal claims Lakkis might also hold Belgian nationality.
