Men block plane aisle with shawls to play cards mid-flight, viral video triggers backlash over air travel etiquette

Indian Express3 hours ago

A viral video showing a group of men playing cards mid-flight has sparked outrage online, with many criticising the passengers for blocking the aisle and ignoring basic in-flight etiquette and safety norms.
In the video, the men are seen tying a shawl between four seats to create a makeshift surface. The setup, which turned part of the cabin into an impromptu card table, not only obstructed movement but also raised safety concerns among viewers online. Many questioned how such behaviour was allowed to continue during a commercial flight.
The clip was originally posted by entrepreneur Mahaveer Jain on his Instagram handle @mahaveergandhi, with the caption: 'Gambling is not about how well you play the games; it's really about how well you handle your money.'
Since being uploaded, the reel has racked up over 7.1 million views and more than 156,000 likes, alongside a flurry of critical comments.

Another user questioned the silence of both crew and fellow passengers: 'The biggest question is, was there nobody on the plane to shame these guys and make them stop? The crew are too polite but what about the other passengers?'
A third viewer said, 'Yaar stop this nonsense. Watch movie or go to sleep. And let others sleep.'
However, not everyone saw a problem with the airborne card game. One user came to the group's defense and wrote: 'I am not sure why it's shameful behaviour? No one is being hurt or no inconvenience is being created? If you feel uncomfortable in social situations so that you hide your presence by making least movements and getting mix by everyone, people not doing that doesn't make their behaviour shameful and whatever people are telling!! Chillx guys, they are not hurting or disturbing anyone.'

The couple exchanged vows on June 11, 2025, in an intimate gathering attended by close friends and family, marking a picture-perfect moment that seemed straight out of a fairytale. The couple, who got engaged in August 2023 at the picturesque Aruba Ocean Villas, made it official at the stunning Casale De Pasquinelli, surrounded by floral grandeur and timeless elegance. Mouni Roy commented, 'Heartiest congratulations! You both look beautiful!" while Karishma Tanna, Bhumi Pednekar, Drashti Dhami, Varun Dhawan, and Ali Fazal were among many who extended their heartfelt wishes. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Lauren reflected on the calm she felt before the ceremony and the surreal nature of the day. 'When I saw Tobias standing at the altar in his custom Prada tux, I kept telling myself—remember every second," she said. The wedding was full of unforgettable moments—from a live performance by Tobias's cousin during Lauren's walk down the aisle, to a champagne tower, and fireworks set to Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars." But it was her emotional father-daughter dance that stood out most. 'We laughed, cried, and exchanged words we'll never forget. He told me I was the best daughter he could've ever dreamed of. I told him I owe him everything." Lauren, best known for her role in ABCD (2013) and her appearances on Indian reality television, ended the day not just with a ring on her finger, but a heart full of love, gratitude, and memories for a lifetime. Farah Khan reveals who is the biggest actor in her house

Farah Khan is known to have directed some big names from the industry such as Shah Rukh Khan , and Deepika Padukone . However, now the filmmaker has revealed who is the biggest actor in her house - it is none other than her Shih Tzu pet Smoochy. The 'Main Hoon Na' maker took to the stories section of her Instagram handle and dropped a video where she had captured her messy home, littered with cotton. However, the culprit, Smoochy was comfortably hiding under the covers, trying to get away with his innocent face. As Farah got a close-up of Smoochy's face, he refused to make eye contact with the camera. Awarding her furry baby with the title of the 'best actor', the director captioned the post, "Acting koi issey seekhe!! OSCARRRRR! @smochythepoochy." Smoochy keeps on making such fun appearances on Farah's feed. Back in March, Farah shared that Smoochy is her only kid who likes to pose with her. Salman's secret revealed by Farah Khan Taking to her official IG, the 'Om Shanti Om' maker shared a cute selfie with her furry baby posing on the couch. "The only child who will pose with me", Farah captioned the post. Meanwhile, along with taking over Farah's life, Smoochy has also taken over her bed. Taking to social media, Farah posted a video of a dimly lit bedroom with a cozy, neatly arranged bed. However, it was not Farah, but Smoochy who lay comfortably in the center of the bed. He seemed to be owning not just the bed but the entire space. Farah accompanied the clip with a hilarious caption saying, "When u realize it's actually her bed n she's just letting u sleep in it! @smoochythepoochy." The "Chand Tare" song from the 1997 film "Yes Boss" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla was also added in the backdrop.
