Liverpool 'plotting swoop for Champions League-winning PSG star if priced out of a move for Alexander Isak' - with Premier League champions 'set to continue summer spending spree'
Liverpool are far from done with their summer splurge, according to a report, and are plotting a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. The Premier League champions are finalising a deal for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, which is expected to make him the most expensive signing in British history. The Reds have also continued to be linked with Newcastle's Alexander Isak, though a deal for the Magpies striker could exceed the £126million mooted to sign Wirtz. If Newcastle, who are set for a financial windfall after qualifying for the Champions League, refuse to budge on a likely £150m valuation for the Swedish striker, the Reds may turn their attention to Barcola, according to The Sun. Reports out of Germany this week have claimed that Bayern Munich has identified the 22-year-old as a target, with his future unclear in Paris. And it has now been claimed that the Merseyside club are prepared to battle with the German giants once again this summer, following their tussle over Wirtz. Having begun the season in Luis Enrique's starting XI, Barcola found himself on the bench for the Champions League final, with his replacement Desire Doue producing a Man of the Match-winning performance in the 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan. Liverpool will look to raise funds for further summer additions - following the £29.5m arrival of Jeremie Frimpong and £45m outlay expected on Milos Kerkez - by offloading Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan looks set to leave Anfield after struggling to nail down a place in Arne Slot's starting XI, with Luis Diaz often depolyed out of position in the centre of attack during the Reds' Premier League title-winning campaign.

Arsenal target new defender as they monitor Premier League captain and ask about Ajax star in bid to add to their squad after going trophyless again
Arsenal have asked about a potential move for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato. The highly rated centre back made his senior debut at just 16 years old and became an undisputed starter for the Eredivisie side last season. Now 19, Hato has been appointed as one of Ajax's vice-captains, and was named Eredivisie Talent of the Year in 2024-25. The star, who can play left back and centre back, is also a target for Chelsea, who are once again on the hunt for reinforcements in defence. Liverpool fans were convinced they had spotted the Hato in the stands during the Reds' 4-1 win over Ipswich in January. One of the most sought-after talents in Europe, he was first called up to the Dutch senior squad in November 2023 for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Ireland and Gibraltar. His debut come when he replaced Virgil van Dijk at half time against the latter. Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his side on the back of another trophyless season at the club At club level, he joined Ajax in 2018 from Sparta Rotterdam, and made his way through the academy before debuting for the senior side in November 2022. Since then, he has made 92 appearances for Ajax, scoring four goals. Arsenal also hold interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi but he would want greater starting opportunities if he left. Palace anticipate offers will come from Newcastle and Chelsea for Guehi. The Magpies made a plethora of failed bids for the England international last summer, whom Palace demanded £70m for. Arsenal target Leroy Sane, meanwhile, is joining Galatasaray in a shock move after failing to agree on a new contract at Bayern Munich.

Liverpool eyeing move for £100m PSG forward after record Florian Wirtz deal
Liverpool do not intend to stop their summer spending after signing Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, eyeing up another big-money transfer. The Reds are doing anything but resting on their laurels after their impressive Premier League title win last season. Frimpong has already been brought in from Bayer Leverkusen in a £29.5m deal, while Wirtz is set to make the same trip in a club record signing due to be worth around £127m. The move for the German is a signal of intent from Liverpool, beating the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich to his signature, and they are ready to lay down another marker in the transfer market. The Sun report that Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola is still a target for the Premier League champions this summer. The 22-year-old is also on Bayern's radar, in fact he has been labelled their number one target, but the Reds are keen to beat the German giants to him just as they did with Wirtz. The Frenchman has been valued at £100m, although he has fallen down the pecking order at PSG, which is why interested parties are circling. The former Lyon man was on the bench for PSG's 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the Champions League final, only coming on for the last 27 minutes. He remained a regular in Luis Enrique's team as he made 58 appearances in all competitions over the campaign, just not necessarily in the starting XI. The front three of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue has taken prominence and suggests Barcola could now be available with a huge bid. Ligue 1 Apps: 34 Goals: 14 Champions League Apps: 17 Goals 3 Coupe de France Apps: 6 Goals 4 Major Trophies Ligue 1, Champions League, Coupe de France Liverpool also remain keen on Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, despite the Swede likely to be very difficult to sign. The Magpies do not want to sell their star striker and will only be moved by a bid in the region of £150m, which will be too much for the Reds after signing Wirtz. Barcola will become the more achievable target if Newcastle stick to their huge asking price for Isak. With a substantial spending spree going on at Anfield, the Reds also need to sell players this summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher have already left for Real Madrid and Brentford respectively, but there will need to be more outgoings. More Trending Darwin Nunez is available for transfer and expected to leave, while Liverpool will also consider bids for Diogo Jota and possibly Luis Diaz as Arne Slot revamps his front line. Al Hilal had a bid for Nunez rejected in January and remain interested in the Uruguayan, while Atletico Madrid and Napoli are both considering making offers. Luis Diaz has been continually linked with Barcelona this summer and the Reds turned down an approach, but the situation could still change.
